I don't take this passage as a bad thing...I take it as they are trying to further expand her live repertoire. Let's face it, the "Taking Chances" and "Loved Me Back To Life" albums did not exactly spawn any mainstream pop hits...but there are still songs on there that we love and would be great for the stage. Same goes for many of her album tracks and b-sides. The era in which Celine was popular in a mainstream way is kind of fading, but that doesn't mean she isn't still a popular artist to go see in concert. I think they are just trying to expand her palate for the stage using some songs of hers that we wouldn't usually be used to hearing her sing.

I love LTAL but I don't want it as the opener. Too slow. I would love LMBTL as the opener I don't see her opening with TSMGO. Who knows. I love the suspense of us trying to guess!!!

Also, hope they don't cut Mr. Paganini. That's the best thing on that old set list; I'd be hugely disappointed if she took that out of her repertoire. Shows amazing versatility and it's just such a fun song which she sings masterfully.

LTAL was the opener for the LTAL tour back in '98-'99, and it went over well (at least with me, though I was crying so hard when she first came on stage that it was hard to tell how the rest of the audience was reacting!). I wonder if they'd repeat an opener like that, though. Not sure they've done that before.

One thing I don't get though... She said he was getting better, the doctors said the treatments worked. And the interviewer goes "...so close to death..." I don't think he's that bad. I mean he still has a feeding tube... But Celine said he's doing better!

Well, too bad we don't have any professional footage/audio recording of the scrapped songs... It would be very nice to hear Bond Medley or Mr. Paganini in high quality.

I think we just don't really know . . .it sounds like he's seriously ill, but they're still treating it and still fighting it. We're really just getting sound bites from short interviews, so it's easy to take things out of context and jump to conclusions. Just hoping for the best for them.

Have been in Vegas since Sunday and I can't believe it's so close to showtime. It has been really hard listening to and reading all the reports about Rene's health... I can't imagine what they're going through. But it's clear Céline is doing this for Rene and as such it's bound to be amazing! I love her!

Yes it def shows her range and artistry as a singer, people don't expect her to sing a long like that and be so good at it. I'll miss Open Arms but I'll gladly trade that for Think Twice, If You Asked Me Too, and Loved Me Back To Life. I think LMBTL would be a good opener although the general audience won't know the song but the lyrics would be amazing for opening night.

Regarding "Mr. Paganini," I'd rather see it removed in favor of either "La diva" (in tribute to Maria Callas) or "Tous les blues sont ecrits pour toi." I think both of those songs could show off Celine's versatility as a vocalist just as good as "Mr. Paganini." Plus, they're her own songs -- not covers (as far as I know).

Seeing and hearing this new interview from ET Entertainment Tonight makes me so much more hopeful that things could turn out for the better with Rene. Celine sounds so positive and hopeful about Rene's progress and how he is doing with his treatments. She said that Rene is getting better and that the treatments have helped!

 

I know it's still a day by day thing and we never know what tomorrow can bring, but for now it seems like Rene is on the right path to a healthy recovery. Knock on wood. This is positive news guys, I'm so happy!

 

Did anyone else get a good feeling from this interview or was it just me? I just get a really good vibe from Celine. She seems pretty hopeful, saying that the doctors are impressed with his progress and that he is getting better. Celine even said that he is going for further treatments, so he hasn't been let go as a patient!

 

I just hate that the interviewer had to say that Rene could be near death. It was so positive and then it had to end with death. Come on. Celine didn't give any hint at death. She was trying to sound positive and then they poohed all over that. We know that death is a possibility, but they didn't need to end off that positive sounding interview like that. Just my opinion.

 

I just hope Rene continues on this path to a healthier life and a full recovery!

We do I think just not in full. Mr. Paganini and the Bond Medley were shown during the Oprah special and I know Bond medley was featured in quite a few of the rehearsal/opening night clips we got
