Even Adele won more Grammys in one night than Céline in her entire career. And she's not the best-selling female artist of all time!

Alison Krauss has won 26 Grammys! Beyoncé 17! Clearly Céline is not really their cup of tea!

Yeah, when u see Roar or Royals getting nominated for a grammy, you cant help but think whats the difference now between the Teen choice awards, mtv music awards or the grammys.

None

lol cause its f**ing BOMB!

I'm looking at the Vocal Pop Album nommines, and im thinkning if they can be nomminated, LMBTL sure can too.

Tony Bennett? Michael Bubblé? Gloria Estafan? Dionne Warwick? Celine's album could have win easily.

I love Gloria Estefan. She's one of my all-time favorite artists. With that said, and with all due respect to her, I will not understand why she got a Grammy nomination for her standards album. The entire album is one dimensional. Plus, the arrangements add nothing to the songs themselves. Again, I love Gloria to death, but the album felt more like a "filler" for her discography than anything else.

I'm expecting no good from Grammy Awards that have been largely ignoring the highest selling singer in US of the past 25 years that is Mariah Carey. Besides the fact that she's been exemplary singer (during her prime at least), musician and songwriter, she also happens to be the most influential vocalist there (since her debut). Yet she was barely given any credit, she only got 5 Grammy Awards and some of them for insignificant categories. Also, we're talking about the ceremony that awarded 'Who Let The Dogs Out?' and gave a nomination to Britney for best vocal performance... so yeah... Maybe we're overrating their value. :) Edited by LukeD

Now that promotion for "Loved Me Back To Life" has pretty much ceased, does anybody think the chances of "Somebody Loves Somebody," "Water And A Flame" and "Breakaway" being added to "Celine" are now dead in the water?

OMG Britney for best vocal performance ?? Really ?? Wow!! LOL.

Look at CelinesDIVO5 comment above! It totally proves that the hype around these awards is much bigger than their substance/value. Edited by LukeD

Even when she was nominated she Didn't win, even after being nominated and clearly being the fore runner...even though she may not have as many Grammy Awards as a Alison Krauss or beyonce, Celine, whitney and Mariah have Gain the Respect of being Some of the best Vocalist of Our time...And have set the standard for Music Today....Falling Into you may not have won Album of the Year.... But we all Know its one of the best albums Of all Times!!! Edited by sherwynwilshire

They had slim pickings in the early 2000's as it was when the boy band and bubblegum pop takeover started to occur.

It used to be, winning a Grammy was a distinguishing award and set apart from the other music award shows. I get adding categories for things so they evolve with the music industry.......but seriously Britney is not Celine. Of course, no one is really. Not to hate on Britney because she's a fond part of my younger years, too (and I do still jam out to some good old Britney tunes on occasion), but I can think of so many other people deserving of a nomination than her. Especially for best vocal performance, when it's a well known fact she lips her entire shows. With that, it makes me think winning a Grammy isn't what it used to be and it's just following suite to be like the other award shows. To me, that's so sad. If that's the way they want to role, of course Celine won't be nominated.

I like these songs but I don't really feel like they were vocal performances, especially with what I think of for that category. The only song I can think of where she actually attempted to really sing is Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman. I give her props for that but it wasn't all that great. Sure, she puts on a good performance but I don't see a lot of vocal ability in these songs. Especially when you put her up against others like Beyoncé, Celine, Justin Timberlake, Adele, and even Christina or Mariah (just to name a few, there's more). I realize everyone has their opinions about these artists on here but, personally, I think they have a greater vocal range/ability than Britney does. Again, not trying to knock Britney. She's good at what she does but I just don't think her vocal ability is that great. Not when you look at so many others in the industry.

I don't understand why they release 'Breakaway' in France. The song was played by the biggest station in UK, was performed on TV and flopped.

A FB friend of mine (straight guy) just uploaded the lyric video of LMBTL in his FB account and like 5 other guys thumbed it up! This is so unlikely to happen because they all come from my hometown that is really homophobic... I mean that they would normally avoid any connection with Celine so that they aren't called 'gay'. The song is THAT good! :D

Everytime someone brings up Britney as and call her a "good singer" I just can't understand who they are comparing her to. If you compare Britney to farm animals, then yes, she's a good singer. If you compare her to a human, she sucks. I just can't understand people who thinks she is a good singer. At best she's average, but I think she's plain bad. Her voice is just so awful, it's not much of a singing voice, it's barely a talking voice. I have this friend who is a die hard fan of Britney. He's not much of a friend really, just someone I know. Anyway, every time we talk he brings up Britney and how great she is, and I just can't resist (according to me) state the obvious that she's not. And he says that Britney can do something with her voice that no other singers can.... Apparently, she can reach some very inhuman high notes. This is of course coming from a die hard fan, so as much as I believes he loves her, I think that is utter bullshit.

I am not discrediting Britney for her success, she has done a lot of great things, though, her music is a bit trashy for my taste these days. Back in the day it was better. But her voice is nothing special. Every time I hear her "sing" it's so uncomfortable. I'm not really a fan of Beyonce either, but at least she can sing, so I'll never say anything bad about her except that maybe most of her music is not for me. Though, I actually understand why people love her.

My point with this entire post though, was that this committee usually have a great objective view on what to reward, however not always. Take Britney again, when she was a kid her recordings actually sounded decent, so where did it all go? It's like her vocal prime lasted 6 months when she was a teenager and then she just lucked out auto tuning her entire career. I have so much more respect for singers who actually sing. By all means, use auto tune if it sounds good, but a singer shouldn't be dependent on it.

:sofunny: Best part of your awesome comment...! I agree with everything you said, I even share the same opinion about Beyoncé! And I have to add that the guy who praised Britney this way is really delusional. :P She never had a voice to sing with, she's pretty much a studio product. The farm animals comparison you brought up reminded me of this, by the way: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRNd9CwDo3w :-D Edited by LukeD
