Your_Su_Phu Posted November 12, 2013 at 10:45 PM Posted November 12, 2013 at 10:45 PM (edited) So if Celine didn't do QVC her sales would've been similar to Cher's opening week. Kinda mind boggling. Agreed, but we do have to remember that Cher got in all of the huge appearances earlier on: X Factor, DWTS, etc. Otherwise she wouldn't have even performed that well.Celine has yet to appear on any high-rated televised event like during the TC era Edited November 12, 2013 at 10:45 PM by Your_Su_Phu Quote

Say What? Posted November 12, 2013 at 11:04 PM Posted November 12, 2013 at 11:04 PM Well, with all of the promo in the USA done before the album release, one has to be happy with those results. It was their choice to gamble with the USA and focus on Europe while the album is out. Hopefully she'll do a few higher rated shows with Ne-Yo later on. Otherwise it'll be just another waste. Quote

I am not sure but lot of people who are non-celine fan who bought the TC album just decided not to follow up with her new album anymore...And this apply to not only US but worldwide in general.Usually album will sell well if the previous one was well-received.Just my 2 cents Quote "Take the time to make the time to make each moment count" - Unfinished Songshttps://youtu.be/sh8iyY-X3UQ
boyblackuk Posted November 12, 2013 at 11:07 PM Posted November 12, 2013 at 11:07 PM A freind of mine has just said that gaga sold 34000 copies on the first day here, trying to find out from where so we can get Celines Quote

lyn Posted November 12, 2013 at 11:22 PM Posted November 12, 2013 at 11:22 PM Hm fraid I haven't been paying attention to the other artists, but what about Eminimen's or Gaga's promo might have made their numbers do better? salsacolin Posted November 12, 2013 at 11:26 PM Posted November 12, 2013 at 11:26 PM Gaga has 2 hit singles and loads of fans and promo and airplay. I think it's pretty amazing Celine can sell this much with what promo has been done. Yes, Sony has done great promo but gaga has a tonne of airplay, web promo etc I'm pretty impressed. It's true her sales figures are underwhelming but it's not like there are many artists selling more this week 2 Quote I never even knew the song the orchestra was playing........ wjd Posted November 12, 2013 at 11:59 PM Posted November 12, 2013 at 11:59 PM A massive debut in the UK? Doubtful. She'll be down to #3 in the UK come the end of the week - the difference between her and Eminem is less than 2k apparently. Céline had a good start thanks to a £7.99 special offer deal at HMV on day one that's now ended. I reckon she'll end the week having sold around 50k - which is still a reasonable first week. If she does any more than this, then it'll be great. France, Switzerland, Finland & the US - all MASSIVE disappointments. I hope the promo she's got lined up improves things. I think even Canada will probably disappoint this time around as well. Yes, numbers are low, but that's the case for everyone else - which explains why she debuts at #2. Eminem is a special case... Céline's numbers look bad beside his, but any other week, 77 k units is considered pretty good. 3 Quote

The promo have not even begun. Its not so much the sales that are disappointing, its the position. Eminem sold 3x as many copies with this new album as he did with his last album in his first week, which has edged Céline out. Still, even with sales - I was expecting over 40k. It's not unusal to debut at #1 in the US with 77,000 copies.... You see, if Eminem had not released his album the same week as Céline, she would have debuted at #1!!! tim123 Posted November 13, 2013 at 02:14 AM Posted November 13, 2013 at 02:14 AM (edited) I read on the billboard article that only six retailers are counted on the sales and it doesn't include amazon or qvc so album sales is higher than this The Building Chart reflects the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (which ends Sunday) as reported by six major merchants: iTunes, Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Starbucks, Target and Anderson Merchandisers. Billboard estimates that they make up about 85% of all U.S. album sales. Edited November 13, 2013 at 02:22 AM by tim123 Quote

mebe Posted November 13, 2013 at 02:49 AM Posted November 13, 2013 at 02:49 AM I'm a bit disappointed too about the numbers....BUT Celine still does pretty good on the charts and also in terms of sales considering the music industry in general and compared to other popular artists. Moreover, most of the critics and reviews have been really really good about her new album and the response from her fans have also been excellent. On Twitter, I also read a lot of comments fron non fans who say that the album or the title track is very good. She is gaining fans! In my opinion, I think this era can't be better! Celine looks fantastic. She still sings amazingly and everyone is happy!! We couldn't ask for more!! Plus we have new music to listen to as much as we can!!! Let's stay positive and let's continue to spread her new music all around for other people to discover it!!! 3 Quote
