New English Single: Loved Me Back To Life

Where is the video clip?

Plus if there will be a video clip, she'll be the center of it, we'll see her in the desert singing, waving arms.

She has become quite boring to say the least. It's like she's jaded, tired and forces herself to do what she's doing... She's not fun anymore. Vegas destroyed her.

These are the reasons why she's not on radio and TV.

Concerning the song, it has a really good potential, but the single sounds amateur. Don't mistake what I'm saying, her voice is good. But she could have made it way better. There are some parts where her voice is weak. Sia's demo version sounds more professional and I even kinda prefer that version.

Thank you for speaking the truth. Vegas destroyed her once and then she got herself back together. Now it has destroyed her again. She finds herself in this position because she would rather have the predictability of a multimillion dollar paycheck than the uncertainty of a recording career. She speaks of others selling their souls when it is in fact she who has made the most lucrative deal with the devil. The trouble is, just like Faust, she can't stop, because she refuses to say no and is terrified of letting people down. She is so anxious about still being able to deliver that she is hijacking her own promo with mediocrity and trite self-promotion. I am tired of it.

Just for the record, I have not heard Cher's new song or Celine's new song on any radio station where I live and it makes me so mad!!

So they released Taking Chances in 2007 and a lot of her older fans got freaked out so they reverted back to the ballads with with Alone and My Love as next singles. Then after a 6 year break she comes out with this fresh modern song. Again, not to the taste of some older fans but radio refusing to play it because Celine is not edgy or cool. Sounds to me like Celine has a real image problem because people want to put her in a box and define her. Vegas, in my opinion has not helped but the choice of previous singles by her record company are the real culprit of radio, especially pop radio, refusing to play her. Her current age of 45 doesn't help (some people think she is even older than that!)

From the start, Sony pegged her as a ballad singer. They could have gone another way an introduced her with Unison. It was massive in Quebec and people loved it in concert. Instead, Where does my heart beat now was chosen to introduce her to the English speaking world and the ballads followed in rapid succession. It worked out in their favor in the 90's and both she and Sony made boat loads of dough.

What's ironic is that Celine grew up listening to 70's Rock. And from some of the songs she has chosen to record, you can tell she likes more uptempo stuff. But the record company always preferred to release the ballads missing some great opportunities. It's no wonder she is her current predicament. She is not helping matters much when she says in interviews that she "cannot reinvent herself". Why not? Madonna did it a million times. She doesn't even have to call it reinvention, she can simply say that she likes uptempo songs! There's nothing wrong with that.

In French, the single choices were always more daring and frankly more interesting. That's why SA had no trouble selling loads (even though they screwed up once again on single choices leaving behind gems like SA and SJNRDT). I said it once and I'll say it again, if LMBTL fails to become even a modest hit, no contemporary songwriter will want to want to write for her. And God forbid we should rely on Diane Warren to write new songs for her (Unfinished Songs anyone?)...

I throw out the bull-sh-it flag here, there's always going to be people writing song for Celine freaking Dion. Contemporary or not, people want that voice recording their songs. Maybe not flavor of the day hipsters, but there will never be a dryspell of songs being thrown Celine's way. They just have to record them.

Let's face it, her #1 hit days age gone. They've tried, and they put out an amazing song. I wish they'd put this much effort in picking her other material.

exactly, she's done her best to choose something for the fans and for her, if the rest is as good,no complaints. You can't fault someone who tries...

I hope that commercials for the new seasons of shows coming out will have like a snippet of it being played. Didn't they do that with Taking Chances?

I think the problems are:

1. lack of promotion on Sony's part: No banner on iTunes, youtube etc. You wouldn't know she has a new album unless you are member of this forum.

2. Radio stations wont play her song.

3. lack of promotion on Celine's part. She performed the song only twice ( Ellen and Jim Kimmel ). She did a couple of interviews but dont expect people to buy your song simply because you told you have a new song. You need to let them hear it.

I feel sorry for Sia.

I don't understand why it matters that she has a #1 single. Maybe it's just me but I don't get it. Does the fact that it hits #1 mean that it's a good song? If it only goes to #92 is it a bad song and I shouldn't like it? Does that mean that I will enjoy the song more because it goes to #1? What does this #1 mean? Will she get to record more albums because it's a #1 song? Will she stop recording new music if the song doesn't hit #1? What does it really mean that the song goes to #1??????? Why is it ultimately important in my life. Someone please explain it to me. I've been sitting around not caring if the song is a hit. Nor if the album is a hit. I've just been wanting to hear some new music. If the song doesn't hit #1 does that mean the album will disappear and I won't get to hear more new music from Celine???

Getting number means there's a lot of people who bought her record. I want her new music to be heard. I don't like the feeling that I got a new Celine Dion album but I am the only in this world who has heard the song and all my friends thought that her career has already sunk together with the Titanic ship. You might say that who cares as long as you have her new record, just be happy and listen to the songs. Well, I am not like that. I want her new music to be heard and prove to everyone that she is not a "Has Been". That she can sing all types of songs and not just power ballad. That she can get a hit without wearing almost nothing like Miley, or her contemporary Mariah and Madonna. In short, I want her to get to number 1 because that will make me happy because she is an inspiration to me and I am proud of her. She's a beautiful person inside and out.

Now I wonder if Celine had released Titanium or Shewolf, would the song have been played.. If she had released Bleeding love or Next to me...

She is cursed , whatever she will do , she will have to do it without the suppport of radios and it sucks, I would like her to go on national television and actually speak about it.. say out loud, how come no one wants to play me anymore while I am always selling out shows at every concert, I sell zillion of albums and I have been there for 30 years yet the older I get the sexier I look ! I can't get over the fact that us fans, had this opportunity to share our love with the world with this new amazing song and it just won't happen.

I certainly hope for a miracle but I think the next single can't do worst , bring on ne-yo then breakaway or somebody loves someone..

I dont think releasing the song with Ne-yo will change anything that's happening right now. I think switching to another record label is the only way.

Well, I hope with all my heart that you're a teenager and not anywhere near an adult yet. "I want her to get to number 1 because that will make me happy"????!!!!! Your happiness needs to come from some place other than Celine Dion having a number 1 song. Celine Dion has nothing to do with your life. Your happiness shouldn't be dependent on someone who you don't know and who isn't a part of your life in any real way whatsoever. Look for happiness from within yourself. It comes from nowhere else.

I think a cool music video can make ppl talking about the song. In my opinion, there're many ways to make the song famous and well known... I don't care about the charts, the airplays. These are not the only ways Edited by Chin

What I find funny, is many of you here are writing Celine off!!!?!

The single could still be successful, the album WILL sell and it won't be a surprise because like Alex said she's CELINE FREAKING DION!

The public will continue to accept her gift as long a she continues to offer it, we all have our opinions about what we like her to record but the fact is she could have a album full of "at17's" or a album full of "loved me back to life" type songs and either way she will be respected because nobody can't deny that from te years of 2000-2013 she's hasn't had many "hits" like in the 90s but in those 13 years she lockend the word " LEGEND" next to her name in the dictionary!

I can't. :sofunny:

- ''Taking Chances'' was an average album and as such, it was an average seller.

- ''My Love'' sold above expectations.

- ''Sans Attendre'' slayed.

- The ''Taking Chances World Tour'' grossed $280m.

How come Vegas destroyed her?

The Vegas show itself can't be blamed for the direction Celine took as a recording artist. She could have gone for modern music in order to stay relevant long ago!

As for her selling her soul... when YOU are offered a multimillion dollar paycheck, ignore it, and go for your ''art''. :-D I'd go for the paycheck though. :giggle:

You don't get it, Vegas destroyed her voice! Celine's voice is the foundation of all her success. Celine's voice is why people listen to her music. It's not about modern music -- honestly, I don't think the public at large wants her to sing modern music! They want her to be Celine, and therein lies the paradox, since to be Celine, to truly perform "Celine Dion," the greatest singer in the world, demands a lot vocally. But it's her job, to be that person, to inspire us and uplift us with vocals that shouldn't be humanly possible, and this is her job first and foremost. To ensure that her albums and performances are the best they can be, regardless of how much money she is making off of them. Success will follow, as it has always followed when she has truly given her all. She's lost sight of what her calling is and it is showing in her unfocused promo and off-point performances. If I could offer any advice to Celine, it would be this: "Don't be fun, be compelling. Be a diva, not a fun Mom who makes $100 million and has a water park in her backyard."

Because it is a good song. A good song deserve to be #1 even though not always #1 song is a good song. But this song deserve to be heard all over the word, it's like we have something good and want to share the joy with everybody.

I couldn't agree more... If her voice was in top top shape and she delivered an incredible ballad, maybe that song would become more of a classic than LMBTL could ever do! I remember what first caught my attention about her was how crystal clear her voice sounded, and so powerful at the same time.

The "live video" for "My love" has more than 4 million youtube views. People wanna listen to her ballads, even nowadays!

Music video for "one heart": 110.000 views

Music video for "Goodbye's" (The Saddest Word): 6 million views! Even if it wasn't commercially successful it did become a classic through time! A lot of people connected with the song!

"It's hard to say goodbye" uploaded by a fan has over 8 million views!

Celine has improved over the years as a singer. She reaches notes with more ease than she did in her prime. I agree that the first Vegas show was demanding and damaged her voice, but after her 2009-2011 break she came back pretty strong. Her recent perfomances have been average because she was sick. I have listened to many bootlegs from ''Celine'' and she sounds great most times. She is not facing a vocal decline!

The promotion might be better than you think, given the fact that her latest french album was promoted much better than any of her french releases since ''D'eux''.

Time will tell. I'm satisfied with Celine's effort regarding the promotion of her new single, since she has already been in 6 talk shows. I expected much more from her lame Twitter team and probably Sony too, but that's it. I can't blame Celine for ''un-focused promo''. The woman spent like 2 months last year promting the s*** out of ''Sans Attendre''.

I agree with your last phrase though, I have said myself that since Celine does not take business to her home, then she shouldn't be taking her home/family life to her public interviews, especially when we've had tons of them since 2002.

Well, yes I said that if Celine will get to number 1, I'll be happy. Aren't you gonna be happy if it happens? Don't you think that the members from this forum will be happy if LMBTL did not flop? However, I did not say that if her new album flops, I'll be sad, I'll cry 24 hours a day and it will be the end of my world. I'll be happy if single is a success but if it isn't, then that's ok. I did my part by buying the single on iTunes, watching the youtube vevo so it will get more views and requesting for the song on our local FM stations. Nothing more I can do.

Can people just chill out for a second and rather enjoy this amazing piece of artwork. Because that's what 'Loved Me Back To Life' is, regardless of its position in the charts.

It's not like Vegas destroyed her career, but a series of several factors since 2003 have played against her so bad, including her isolation in Vegas. But that's just one of them, we had a consecutive chain of stupid and wrong single choices starting with GTSW in 2002, who killed an album who was working so good in radios worldwide and that gave a renewed image of her worldwide and people did like that, but they totally changed that direction once she started in Vegas  We've seen how she performed covers and promoted covers as singles in radios instead of the fresh new material she had in her albums  , and we've seen how her concerts are like a trip to the past because watching one of her concerts in 2013 has little difference with one in 1998, she keeps performing always the same songs everywhere invariably without presenting the new material she has recorded in this decade  . And last but not least, she's spent 6 years out of the international market without any new music from her  .

All these factors have taken a lot of credibility away from her, as an artist. Its evident. And the way she speaks everytime she goes on TV to promote a new album saying that "music is no longuer my prioritie" its equally as saying "I have a new album but I don't give a damn about it", and radios don't trust a singer who has that attitude and goes on talking about her babies, husband, mother and family life as if the album was inexistent. They've made a lot of mistakes and I don't know if this will have a solution for her with radios

What is this talk about her career being destroyed? The fact that she still has a strong and solid career after over 30 years in the business is amazing. She has accomplished so much, and I'm 100 % sure this album will do great as well. People are still mesmerized by her amazing talent and out-of-this-world voice.

If you look at the comments on her recent live performances of LMBTL you'll see that a big majority of the people commenting on the video thinks that she did an amazing performance.

Exactly. She's isolating herself in Vegas. Las Vegas is not the whole world.

The problems are:

1. the music industry itself (it's all about the image and not the music)

2. MTV/VH1 don't play music videos anymore (it's all about youtube)

2. radio stations don't play artist over 40 years

3. Sony don't pay attention to Celine and don't promote her right (wrong single choices etc., she will always be promoted as a ballad singer)

4. Celine herself who setled down in Vegas and don't care about her music as much as in the 90s
