Why would it disappoint? 99% of the world has not even heard this song before. But now that we have been able to listen to the original version a few times, it would be a disappointment if it's not completely different? Give me a break.

I really like the song but it's kind of disappointing to learn that it is another cover...

It's not a cover, this is a demo song from the artist and send it to Celine to record it.

You can clearly hear that at some points of the song .

Whether we like it or not, this is the way these days for artist who are not writing their own songs. Yes, technically you can see it as a cover because someone else has "recorded" the song before, but does that take away the magic of a song or that (like was said before) 99% of the people haven't heard it? Like with movies, originality becomes more of a challenge and harder with each passing year as so much has been done already. See the 'songwriting' world as one big market...songs are being written, demo'ed, sold, exchanged from one artist/songwriter to another. These days it's (IMO) not fair to bluntly say a song is a cover because someone else has recorded (whether for real or as a demo) or released a song first. And so what if it's a cover? This song proves it....it was "made for her", it fits her perfectly, should we not like it because it's technically a cover? I now consider a coversong to be a cover when it has been recorded and released [and was a hit (in one country or several).

 

Anyway, I can't wait to see what they have done to the song.... should become one of the highlights of the album!

I think that Ivy (the singer) actually released it on her cd (and in Germany if I'm not mistaken). So yes, it is a cover, but why are people complaining? How many of us here can actually say they've heard the song before this week?

cover versions are nothing new, i think in the 90s they werent as prevalent but in the 60's and 70s it was hard to work out who sang the original as if the beatles released a song the same song 2 months later would be on a barry manilow, cher, bette midler etc cd. my way was released in a short space of time by paul anka, elvis presley and frank sinatra. but your right i think lately its become more common for an unknown song by someone to be rereleased as a single by someone else, i.e I aint gonna look the other way, if you werent a celine fan you wouldnt know that song existed (a shame really) but someone released their own version and no one knew it was a cover besides us.

This is probably one of the best decisions they took regarding this album. Put those Vegas covers for the Vegas album or bonus cd. If they want a cover, choose a cover that is really good and has some very mature lyrics. This somewhat reminds me of Ain't Gonna Look The Other Way and that is a good thing IMO with the only difference now is that Celine's vocals are very good. I hope they keep this song raw as it is and not over-produce it.

 

I'm really looking forward to this.

The song is very nice and Celine needs to go for darker, edgier songs like this instead of doing cheesy love ballads like ''At Last'', ''A World To Believe In'', ''I Love You'' etc.

Even René said recently that Judy Garland's niece had written a song for Céline (which is Break Away if I'm not mistaken).

This song was written by Audra Mae, I do not know if this is how you write her name, I was researching and saw that this song is the album that German singer, is in his first cd, so she did not released as a single, just as a music cd. I liked the music and I think it will be a nice interpretation, but it is a cover, plus an unknown song.

She sounds like Adele! I can see this song being a successful single on the radios! she would have to sing the high notes with full chest voice, which sounds better on Céline!!

Indeed I pretty love this demo version (if it is a demo as some claimed this song was recorded as released in CD) wonder Celine would able to top this demo version and give a brand new live to this song! Listen for few more round and not sure if anyone agree with me that the arrangement of this song especially the chorus n the ending part sound very much close to Adele's Set Fire to the Rain'! If Set Fire to the rain could be a huge hits I see no reason why can't Celine's Breakaway be the huge hits?
