However, nobody complained when the original uploader showed it to us because "Hey, we get to see new Celine video from her show in Vegas" We benefited from it...but now that he uses this footage, it's a problem. And yes, he and his mother were commenting...IT WAS THEIR VACATION lmao. I get what you guys are all saying here. I'm just trying to play devil's advocate because there seems to be a double standard about a few things here. It is if you are charging people to see you sing those covers. Do you know how many bands and singers that aren't signed but are doing shows make money by singing covers without permission? Technically, if you are doing a show, and you are charging people, you MUST have performance rights to that song. If there's a cover in your set list that you don't have performance rights to, you are NOT allowed to charge people a cover as it would be illegal, JUST because you have ONE cover in your set list. When I sing at bars and clubs, I'm not allowed to charge as I am doing covers. The bar can pay me under the table for my appearance, but I'm not allowed to "sell tickets" or have a "door charge". Actually, I think it's illegal even if you're not charging, if it's a public performance and there's no music license. He is young. but really people take it easy, he is making videos for us, videos that Sony arnt making at all.So atleat we have something to watch! he does need to learn things, but like they said above, people do un-professional covers on youtube,he makes film, that are pretty good. I did email him yesterday about the video. He does buy stock footage online for his videoswhen he doenst have time to produce an individual piece.
