LuisMa Posted January 8, 2013 at 11:37 PM Posted January 8, 2013 at 11:37 PM Yes, and I don't really care whether she was or wasn't cool to people, because in my book, she is and will always be great. 1 Quote

LuisMa Posted January 9, 2013 at 12:14 AM Posted January 9, 2013 at 12:14 AM Ahhh, we'll never know the answers to these questions, why they insisted in this or that, why this song was not promoted, etc... Not unless a fan asks them directly to Céline I guess I think you should do the job. You'd be a heck of a good interviewer, Javi! 1 Quote

PaulQ Posted January 9, 2013 at 02:27 AM Posted January 9, 2013 at 02:27 AM I didn't mean it was bad to team up with Streisand, Bee Gees or Pavarotti, but once she did that, she could have moved on and try more things. But I just think she has insisted in that kind of profile too much, same as with doing a very specific kind of song, and the same has happened with all the french guys she has collaborated recently. Yes probably that led her to have the career she has today, but giving more variety and trying different things here and there wouldn't have hurt I'm still waiting for Celine and Laura Pausini to record a duet! 1 Quote http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae122/ptjmwa/2778236-3933894.jpg
chocolatechip15 Posted January 9, 2013 at 02:34 AM Posted January 9, 2013 at 02:34 AM As did most of the "Taking Chances" album. But poor single choices, and the fact that Celine does not appeal to the teen listeners and Top 40 radio have limited where her songs will be played. She's just not "cool" anymore. In 1999 she was at the height of her career. She was still sailing on the Titanic success. Between her high popularity and the fact that she announced a long break at the peak of her career was a HUGE factor in TTWII being successful as well. This is unfortunately not the case anymore. She's at a different place in her career now. One of the things I have always loved most about Celine is that she doesn't try to be cool . . . She's unabashedly sappy and emotional -- She is who she is and she doesn't apologize for it. I love it. 4 Quote

She's unabashedly sappy and emotional -- She is who she is and she doesn't apologize for it. I love it. I never liked Celine because she was trendy or cool. I just loved her talent, her voice, her humbleness. She was just someone wonderful for me to look up to. 4 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay

She's unabashedly sappy and emotional -- She is who she is and she doesn't apologize for it. I love it. She also never really tried to be cool. She just was cool when she had her time and everyone was talking about her. But I feel most successful artists have that point in their career where everyone is like "OH MY GOOOOOOODDDDD!!!" Celine had quite a few years of that. 1 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay

I love it. Definitely. She does crack me up when she does her "trying-to-be-cool" gestures and facial expressions, like in the vídeo shoot forANDHC. Exactly..she is probably one of the few artists who remain true to themselves and hasn't let fame & money change them for the worst. She doesn't seem to get all caught up in that and I think it's because she has a really strong family base. I'm gonna try to see the film if it is shown anywhere near me, I wanna hear the WHOLE song. I like what I heard in the snippet. 3 Quote ~J O E Y~
