What's new about this trailer? The trailer in the link looks the same as the previous one...?

Same trailer guys!

It really reminds me of "I ain't gonna look the other way"

The high note is nowhere near the high notes she sang on Taking Chances. Take for example "Map To My Heart", she hits an F, "The Reason I Go On", she's always singing Ds! "Fade Away" many F...

For what I could hear on the clip, she only climbs up to an Eb, same note Cher hits on "You Haven't Seen The Last Of Me". Hope we gets some good high notes on this album, we know she can still belt them out!

I was reading some comments about it this afternoon. Some said it is the geriatric glee.

I read some comments about The Best Exotic Hotel Marygold and them weren't very good. Then I watched it and for me was one of the best film from last year. I think Unfinished Song may be the same. But if you are expecting a blockbuster it won't happen :)

Céline has had a strange fixation for joining with the elderly throughout her career either in her songs or now with movie projects that I don't get to understand :hmm:

We'd probably understand if we had a husband who is 25+ years older. Hehe

I HEAR THE SONG!!!!!

( oh I was not the only one it turns out... I heard it playing in the trailer now) Sounds familiar I have to say.

.Have to hear the full version to really judge. Sounds promising now, the more I listen to it the more I want to hear it again and I want to hear the full version!

(I'm usually not this harsh --

Yes you are. You're as harsh as an unfinished song.

Yeah, probably that's the main cause, but I think her big family and she being the youngest of 14 siblings has had also much to do here! I think she's felt always more connected with older people than her because of her family origins.

Yeah, that's why she made the really really bad decisions of teaming up with Barbra Streisand, The Bee Gees, Pavarotti, LOL.

That's why she was 29 and everyone thought she was 45, but that's what made her become a serious Diva before the age of 40!

I didn't mean it was bad to team up with Streisand, Bee Gees or Pavarotti, but once she did that, she could have moved on and try more things. But I just think she has insisted in that kind of profile too much, same as with doing a very specific kind of song, and the same has happened with all the french guys she has collaborated recently. Yes probably that led her to have the career she has today, but giving more variety and trying different things here and there wouldn't have hurt ^_^

I think the variety and the different things were present throughout her career, but most of it remained under the radar. TTWII was a big bold move, and it went to number 6 on the Hot 100 only on airplay merits. Had it been released as a single, it would have rocketed to number 1. And I'm sure "I'm Alive" would have been more successful hadn't it come out in the lackluster 2002, when most of the hit songs are forgettable now. Thank God it was a big European hit, but for American audiences, TTWII is the only youthful Celine hit to grace the Top 40.

Let's see what happens to this new midtempo song.

Let's see what happens to this new midtempo song.

Not true...

"Beauty and the Beast" was from a CHILDREN'S movie. A lot of people in the U.S. in their 20's know Celine because of this song, being associated with one of the biggest Disney movies of all time.

"Love Can Move Mountains" got to 36 on the Hot 100, and to number 22 on the Top 40 Mainstream charts. That was pretty youthful back in 1992.

"(If There Was) Any Other Way" cracked the Hot 100, peaking at number 35 (not bad for a song that most people still don't remember) That had a youthful sound in 1990.

And in the mid to late 90's, where she had her biggest hits, were when big diva power ballads were huge among the top 40 radio stations which most teenagers were listening to. While the sound of these songs may not be "youthful" in 2012, they were when they were released based on the demographic of people that were listening to them.

It's not that you're wrong, I understand your points, and maybe I was not really coherent with my points above. I felt that TTWII was pushed more aggressively to appeal to the dominant pop explosion that had been revived in the late 90s with her look, video, appearances. She even went to TRL!

I was in my twenties in the 90s and God forbid my friends would see me listening to Celine, as most were into grunge and rap!

TTWII was pushed so hard not only because it was pop, but because it was her last single before her hiatus.

As did most of the "Taking Chances" album. But poor single choices, and the fact that Celine does not appeal to the teen listeners and Top 40 radio have limited where her songs will be played. She's just not "cool" anymore. In 1999 she was at the height of her career. She was still sailing on the Titanic success. Between her high popularity and the fact that she announced a long break at the peak of her career was a HUGE factor in TTWII being successful as well. This is unfortunately not the case anymore. She's at a different place in her career now.

Absolutely! In the early 90s it was actually a good thing that the poppier songs were not released, as I'm not sure how radio would have taken them. Pop really struggled in 92 and 93, and then Europop dominated 94 and 95. I'm not sure how radio will react to poppier Celine hits now, but I think it's a good time to serve a radio-friendly hit, as the CHR panel is now back to pop.

And I totally agree with your TC point of view.

Ahhh, we'll never know the answers to these questions, why they insisted in this or that, why this song was not promoted, etc... Not unless a fan asks them directly to Céline I guess
