Ohh c'mon.....if music videos would be even half important as they were years ago, I would concur.. but a music video IMO is a waste of money, time and effort these days. Unless your name is Gaga or Beyonce or a new artist. The 'music video' and its influence as it once was is gone, so I really wouldn't put much trouble into this....

 

aren't music videos more accessible and relevant than ever? back in the day you had to have MTV or VH1 to watch mv's, nowadays even old and washed up artists have official vevo accounts. everyone watches mv's on youtube.

I love that thought! I think all the sand slipping through fingers also represents the inevitable passing of time (Like sands in an hourglass . . )

 

I think it's a beautiful video. Not revolutionary, not perfect, but a lovely and appropriate video for a sweet, sad song.

I'm sorry.I can't get over the body double. I was the same when Britney Spears released her Till The World Ends video. It's hard for me to watch when I can see exactly which scenes she wasn't in! But in Celine's 3 minute clip, I think she was in less! Plus the woman doesn't have Celine's great legs. We got a rushed video, that's what we expected.

Yes they're more accessible, and yes these days you can "do more" with videos (compared to the past where you could only watch them on TV), but the reason music vids were created was to support and boost single sales and I doubt these are their primary functions these days. It's all about the image and it also really depends on the artist (and the promotion). For example Céline has never been a single artist, thus the focus has always been more on her albums, than her singles/music videos. Also I think her lyric video for PAMP got about the same amount of exposure as the actual music video, showing you can do the same in a different way. You can tell Sony knows that with Celine, as they usually "cheap out" after the first single, but you can also do a lot without a proper music video, as long as there is proper support.

Celine most certainly has been a singes artist. All through the 90's, Celine was regularly charting high and her singles did very well. She was nearly always placed in the top ten. At a time when the charts were far more important than they are today. No reason why she couldn't have another major hit.

 

I believe that a good music video is still an important part of releasing a single for an A lister. There are so many music channels on tv, these all need videos in order to be able to play a song, so up untill now Parler A Mon Pere, which, 2 months later, Celine has still not promoted in a tv performance, has probably never been played on television. Till now. Sure you can say that music channels are not as important as they once were, but even online, people are more likely to watch an official music video than a fan made photo montage. Making the song more accessible and helping promotion. All of which is done to garner more sales.

 

I wonder if the video is going to be made available to download on iTunes etc?

How many of you guys have ever looked in youtube for a video of Céline performing this or that song, and have found that there are none but TONS of slideshow videos of still photos with the lyrics, and ANY video with Céline actually performing the song? Think about how many non fans look for the song they love of Céline and find that Céline has never performed it, not even if a videoclip has been released

 

What would have ever happened for instance, if they haven't shot videoclips for Then You Look At Me, If Walls Could Talk, I Want You To Need Me or Live? Wow, THANKS GOD someone had a bright day back then in Céline's team and decided to do videos for those songs, because Céline never performed them. Never ever!

I agree with you once again Javito , It's just hard to believe for me that they didn't take advantage of the success Et S'il N'en Restait Qu'une (Je Serais Celle L'a) had when it was first released back in 2007. I think it topped some charts and spend 33 weeks on the French Singles Chart, something that hadn't happened since 1995's Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore. (THE SONG WAS ALMOST AS SUCCESSFUL AS HER BIGGEST HIT IN FRENCH AND THEY DID NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT)

 

It had a breathtaking video, nice cover art for the single, two editions were released, making of the video, clips from the recording session, FEW live performances during the promotional tour in early 2007 and this was the only song she sang live from this album during the latest world tour. I'm afraid to say that we'll never see her singing this song live again, however, I hope I'm wrong and I just don't want this story to repeat this time with Parler à mon Père...

Or even a very good cartoon-Video, but a very good one, better than the lyrics-Video we've seen...

Me too! I hope they make a video of some uptempo song and use footage in the lines of Like Did You Give Enough Love. Somehow the V shoots remind me of that video. Edgy, controversial and Sexy! That's how I like my Celine

I'm very happy that we have now two videos (the lyrics video and this one) but at the same point I'm really disappointed. Celine looks beautiful in the video and the thoughts of some of you that the sparkles are memories or sth is a great thought but for me Celine and/or her team could've done more. Once again we have a video with Celine in front of a greenscreen and a few face shoots...all this fuzz for nearly nothing. And the double don't get me started on that... If she hadn't proper time for making this video than better do none at all!!!

I have to admit that I like the lyric video better though Celine is not in it!

The complaining about the body double is ridiculous. Had a photo of this woman never been posted, nobody would have ever realized that it was a body double and not Celine. And most of you complaining were the ones that were actually debating whether or not the woman in the photo actually was Celine...which makes the complaining EVEN MORE ridiculous. The work of promoting the song "Parler and mon pere", to which the video shot by Thierry Vergnes, responsible for the clips to the songs "Et s'il n'en restait qu'une" and "Immensite" from her previous disc, "D'elles" (2007 ). Photographs were taken last summer in Las Vegas and Paris. White dress, in which she is wearing, was designed by Elie Saab.

I have to say 3 things.

 

1) I adore the song. Still addicted to it.

 

2) I love the video. It's classy, she never looked more beautiful IMO.

 

3) I'm still positive PAMP can become a hit. It reached a new peak in Belgium (#12) and Quebec (#1 Singles chart, #4 Radio C. chart) LAST week (BEFORE the music video was released) and got a few places up in the French Top 100 chart (#50 which is quite close to its peak #32). It was a great time to release the video, we only need a couple live perfomances... Things are not that bad.

and not only that, look at the legs, Celine has slimmer and taller legs, and her shoulders are wider, Celine's are less wide. Maybe it is because we know, but I see a different woman walking in the desert, not Celine. Maybe Celine was afraid to get a sunstroke in the desert and that would be too risky because she had to do her shows in LV of course;) too much at stake!

That said, I do like this video and the postproduction effects are very good.
