Really nice video, with some cool little touches and she looks amazing but as some have said its to repetitive. It reminds me a little of the shots taken of celine in the you and I video where she does a lot of hand gestures and turns etc. but it's cute. I just can't wait for the english video to be shot

Nah, the single was weak and the video is weak. Nothing to do with the videos for her previous french albums, Tout L'or des hommes and S'il n'en restait qu'un (especially this one with the multiple Célines in the same shot) - that was impacting. But this? Come on, it's just Céline moving her hands all the time, this is all they could do with her for the first videoclip?

 

Also it's the umpteenth time we get a video that shows people in it but they never interact with Céline. Why? If they can't do better things (because the video has no story, as usual), they could take advantage of the people they put in the video and mix them with Céline to create some kind of story :shrug

 

Well I guess we must be thankful to still get a videoclip from her. But we can't ask the elm tree for pears with such single.

She looks great, maybe older than other videos, but, time goes on for everyone... and it's ok.. she looks good!. The video has good shots and finally a beautiful post-production effects, the sparkles look so great!! at last no weak post-production like "Have you ever been in love" or "One heart". 0 creativity, but I don't expect much more... (lets other bands being more artistic, lana del Rey, Florence + the machine, Ok Go, lady Gaga etc...) the song doesn't give more opportunities, probably the lyrics video is more creative... They do it on the safe zone, and it's ok... much better than Taking chances videos... don't you think it looks like a perfume advertisement?? hehehe

I don't know but it's often the same thing with Céline. She sits, turns around and move her arms.

Of course with the lyrics she can't do a lot more...

someone brought up a good point, this does have the best post-production among her videos..the effects are very well done

I just loved the theory of the guy being her father. If that's the case, then this video can be very, very meaning! I even can imagine it beginning with her old father getting younger as the video goes and in the end, he like a very young boy walking holding her hand in the desert. It would be great!

And that boy turend out to be RC?

 

PS: I was right about the kid at the end... It's supposed to be Celine's father.

Analysis of this music video.

I know it’s long. Hold on. I get to some conclusions about the possible meaning of the video. And it gives the video some kind of story.

 

I really like the beginning! It’s superb. The best beginning we’ve had IMO. The quote, the noise, the chilly looking desert, the sparks/bubbles that starts rising. It promises a lot!

And when the music starts and we see the girl in the middle of all the sparkles it gets really good!

Then next frame - and I hate to say this guys I really do – when Céline shows up, it all gets spoiled. She gets close up frontal shots way too soon. I think this would had worked out better if she actually was the girl in the desert and the this part of the video showed her from a slight distance and not all front, and we could see she sang as she was walking. I mean seriously: how many videos do we need where Céline just stands there up close frontal and dances a bit? I grew tired after ANDHC and IA. And besides, the girl (Céline body double) in the shot right before seemed a bit enchanted by the mystery sparkles than as they cut to the real Céline one second later she seems as if she doesn’t care at all about those sparkles, like it’s something from every day life. But perhaps it’s meant to be like that.

Then it keeps on being just another same old Céline video.

Then she starts throwing bubbles and it gets interesting. An old man is shown. And I’m like “Ah! Nando was right.”

Then she looks really happy in a couple of frames, and really serious in the following frames – kinda got confusing.

The ship of sparkles(?) shows up and the interest meter goes up again.

Then other random faces turn up and I realise they didn’t have any particular symbolic plan about that. Meter down.

Then the shots of Céline from above starts raining and I can’t stand them coz it’s a bit too obvious that it’s shot in a studio – kinda like a beach in a daytime soap opera or why not IWYTNM.

Then the girl picks up a kinda big sparkle, and the loss of interest start to recover.

I like the shots towards the sun, where it seems as if the sparkles are falling(?).

Then the faces show up again, and you get the feeling they are trying to sum up something – but what?

And the video ends just as abruptly as the song itself, leaving you wondering:“was that all”?

 

The major highlights of this video are:

* The wonderful beginning with the quote, the noise and great transition to the song

* The sparkles, the wide angle shots of them rising and the shots of them falling from the sky

* When Céline throws bubbles/sparkles at the viewer.

 

The major faults about this video are:

* The real Céline only shown in up close (gives it all away that the other is a stand in)

* The ship not leading to anything (did the money for special effect run out right there?), I was expecting more things to show up floating in the air

* The shots of Céline where she does nothing but sing and move around in the same spot

* The vague intention of the faces

* The big sparkle the girl picks up not leading to anything

 

So even though I really liked some parts I am quite sad it didn’t live up to the wonderful beginning. The quote for example. Extremely interesting! But the video didn’t really deliver anything to match up to that atmosphere. I guess the sparkles where “crystals” symbolising souls (passed away or both living and passed away?) – but was that clear?? The more I think about it the sparkles are crystals which with the quote in mind symbolise souls. So crystals rising and crystals falling – souls leaving this earth and souls arriving. And then the faces are the people which these souls were/are, since they are only showing up when a crystal hits the viewer. Is this clear? Or am I helping them out too much? There is nothing more I don’t like than a work of art which doesn’t really mean much in itself but people are loading it with symbols thinking the artist was so bright putting them there when in fact he/she did nothing like that at all. If this was what they were going for I still think they should had – when the girl (“Céline”) picks up a sparkle – shown Céline’s father. But not a close up photo, that could come off as odd, but rather a clip of Céline with her father shown in slow motion.

 

Now I don’t know French too well so maybe a lot of the things I listed as faults above can be explained with the lyrics?

Unless your name is Gaga or Beyonce or a new artist. The 'music video' and its influence as it once was is gone, so I really wouldn't put much trouble into this.... And one thing I would like to add is; We already knew that it was not Celine who was playing the body double in the video, however, this girl is more wide in her shoulders, whereas Celine is less wide. I just can see it ain't Celine. That is distracting too
