fred Posted June 8, 2012 at 10:35 AM Posted June 8, 2012 at 10:35 AM (edited) Celine is Out of her mind if thats true a big super star insted of singing her own songs searching for another hit to sing how are they thinking she is just sinking like the titanic well if its one time like she wants to show that she love the adele song its ok but every night singing another new artist song its wierd and a very very stupid thing to do no mind understands that they are making me really tired the way they are thinkingDuring the good old days everybody sang the same songs. A song could be the hit of many artists. Look at Ella, Frank, Anita etc and try to tell which song belong to which artist. When did this paradigm shift into that a song belongs to this or that artist really? When it comes do doing covers - I repeat again - it all comes down to HOW you do it... or let's say "how not to do it", and that is not too similar to the version you're covering. “The title is perfect for this album. Water for new songs and the flame for the songs I do during my show,” Celine said.Am I the only one who don't see the crystal clear brilliance of this connection?!? And people IF this title track is a cover of Daniel Merriweather and Adele, I strongly hope they change the album title. I can tolerate all the covering. But to cover a current artist's current single and make it the title track of your album is not only really awkward but also incredibly rude and tasteless and therfor a huge no no. IF this is the case I'd rather have her album title be "Incredible" making It's Incredible (an original track which already prior to its release gets much attention) the title song of the album. /fred Edited June 8, 2012 at 10:48 AM by fred Peace and love to all.

What's the difference if the album name comes from a cover song or not? I don't see why this is rude... It's just a name of one of the tracks... cover or not, it doesn't make a difference to me.
eyso Posted June 8, 2012 at 11:19 AM Posted June 8, 2012 at 11:19 AM is it possible that "water and a flame" was actually turned into a duet between celine and adele? i don't think sony would be giving us this sort of album if they didn't have a major viral marketing plan; adele and celine is a perfect mix, and might be perceived as a crucial collaboration for celine, as adele is really the only female singer left who can still move millions of CD's. i think the problem with celine's post-2000 sales figures is that, by 1999 so many celine dion cd's were in circulation that they lost their allure, aura, fetish, intrigue, whatever - celine's albums suffered from a sort of "inflation" / "over saturation." adele "has" whatever it was that celine lost with regard to her sales potential -- the "classic diva factor," the voice that can only be fully appreciated in CD quality (mariah, for example, does not have this voice: hers is a radio signature, and as such lacks the intimate luxury of celine and adele). in any case, a duet between adele and celine would seem like a really tempting option for celine's label and as such i say there's at least a 50% chance this is what we'll end up hearing - because covering a current song like that just doesn't make sense unless there is a significant diva factor involved - you know, some sort of "event," like tell him, the reason, etc. it didn't matter then that carol had her own, original, version of the track, because sony was going for a diva moment -- in that case, designed to synergies celine's brand with a precise constellation of "serious" artists. what's different about an adele duet would be that, even if it didn't end up leading to a 6X Platinum album, it would most certainly help to change the way people think about celine, because in the eyes and ears of many, adele is the new celine....
Xpresso Posted June 8, 2012 at 11:20 AM Posted June 8, 2012 at 11:20 AM Gents and Gals,As I wrote may times, let's wait for REAL confirmation about the English and French albums. Then you can criticize or go crazy or ....be satisfy...well some of us.... Thanks This info all came from the Journal de Montréal. They interviewed Céline and René. (Link in one of the posts above)If this is not a confirmation, I don't know what is...
eyso Posted June 8, 2012 at 11:25 AM Posted June 8, 2012 at 11:25 AM ...and for that reason it would be far, FAR more compelling than any other diva duet in history. like, imagine if "when you believe" had been released in 1993. a celine-adele duet would be like the ultimate battle between old and new, but would also just sound SICK. celine is at her best when she's singing a duet, and adele's voice is like the perfect backup for her. they could change the lyrics so both adele and celine are singing to / about a more ambiguous figure (like, so it could be a blues duet sung by celine and adele about their relationship with their vocal cords...), amp up the orchestral background, stage a volcanic series of harmonic runs at the climax, film a classy, inspired, and artistic video, and watch it become celine's first #1 since titanic. the best thing would be, celine would probably "win" the diva matchup easily. it would be like adele offering tribute to the queen diva or something. haha.
Celine Fan 77 Posted June 8, 2012 at 11:26 AM Posted June 8, 2012 at 11:26 AM Am I the only one who don't see the crystal clear brilliance of this connection?!? If you mean the tittle of the album, she probably associates water to the new songs because it was a more relaxed process in the studio recording them, and the flame (fire) for the songs from her show probably because that's when she really gives her 300%, live, onstage, really connecting with the audience. Celine Fan 77 Posted June 8, 2012 at 11:45 AM Posted June 8, 2012 at 11:45 AM I have a doubt about At Seventeen: at the show, she sings a shortened version of the song, but back in 2008, she sang the complete version of it. Which version do you think she will record for the album? My guess is that it's gonna be the full one and they might make a radio edit later. artistman2007 Posted June 8, 2012 at 12:56 PM Posted June 8, 2012 at 12:56 PM Ok no need to sing it its already a hit and by the way celine no longer can add somthing new to a song she used to but now no listen to man in the mirror micheal wins right next to the right one olso the original is way better even lullby goodnight my angel the original is better just stick to ur songs u cant even add somthing new to ur own songs i mean the old ones i mean the playback ones so u will add somthing new to an already a hit song cummon. And by the way she will ruin the song im telling u better not to do it
Xpresso Posted June 8, 2012 at 01:36 PM Posted June 8, 2012 at 01:36 PM It's time to let go of the MJ tribute. She's been doing it for one year already. How long of a tribute is she supposed to do??? Time to move on...Any change is a good change in my opinion. And from the Journal de Montréal article, it's very clear that Céline is happy that a new diva who sings love songs (without any gimmicks) was able to make it to the top. So why not sing Adele' song? If she's happy, I'm happy.

I don't see why this is rude... It's just a name of one of the tracks... cover or not, it doesn't make a difference to me. No that's not the case at all, if so I would be against TC, Unision, FIY, ATW etc. The thing is here is as I just stated: that track was a single from another artist too recently! It was like 2009 (am I correct here) and that is really not that far away. i think the problem with celine's post-2000 sales figures is that, by 1999 so many celine dion cd's were in circulation that they lost their allure, aura, fetish, intrigue, whatever - celine's albums suffered from a sort of "inflation" / "over saturation."The "inflation" of Céline albums can't be caused by prior 1999 releases. Not compared to her fiest of releaseas and compilations of more recent years. I have a doubt about At Seventeen: at the show, she sings a shortened version of the song, but back in 2008, she sang the complete version of it. Which version do you think she will record for the album? My guess is that it's gonna be the full one and they might make a radio edit later.I don't think there will be a chance/risk of At Seventheen ever having a radio edit. Or am I being to naive. I truly like her performance of it. But they can't release it as a single, can they? /fred Peace and love to all.
MrTim212 Posted June 8, 2012 at 02:24 PM Posted June 8, 2012 at 02:24 PM Did she shorten "At Seventeen"? When I saw the show last year (about 2 weeks into the run), I believe it was the full version. Will have to go back to my recording and check.... Honestly, I think it's time for the Bond medley and the MJ medley to go. Replace those sections with some new songs and maybe another cover or two. If the "Rolling in the Deep" rumour is true, I'm looking forward to hear it. I'd also love to hear her sing the Gotye song "Somebody That I Used To Know".... je me changerai en or pour que tu m'aimes encore

Replace those sections with some new songs and maybe another cover or two. If the "Rolling in the Deep" rumour is true, I'm looking forward to hear it.Indeed! I've been thinking that for quite some time. Didn't like either of them that much. The MJ medley I could see the purpose of since she was a fan and he passed away and all. But the Bond medley is completely pointless. What's the purpose of it? What does she wanna say with those songs, and more importantly what does she want to say with a medley of those songs? (I'd rather she replaced it with a Shirley Bassey medly but that's another topic). I'd also love to hear her sing the Gotye song "Somebody That I Used To Know"....Yes yes yes! Marry me!! Isn't that the best song of pop culture since... forever?? I'd also love for her to work with Bright Eyes or even Train (but again, a different topic) i knew there was somthing wrong with the adele idea so no theres no adele song for vegas ots comfirmed and those who got excited about the news i pitty on them they are so naieveI too had my doubts. It sounded so fishy. But I heard the source was relieable so I had to edit that out from my post about Céline fans and jumping too fast to conclusions. /fred Peace and love to all.

What I most love about some of the posts on here is that they complain about the vegas show's song choices but then the choices they offer up themselves are equally bizzare and random. It's as if they want their own individually customized fan show and are delusional enough to think everyone else will love it too Edited June 8, 2012 at 08:28 PM by Your_Su_Phu

Celine and Adele imo are VERY similar. Adele is the only female artist to break the number one spot of Celine for the longest running solo album from Falling Into You I belive. Adele is one of the only pop artists to sing sing great ballads anymore. Her songs are emotional and clean. She doesn't sing dirty songs or dress scandalous to get attention she simply uses her voice! That's why I respect Adele so much and I love the fact that Celine is recognizing this. Btw, I don't think Ne-Yo is going to be rapping in his song with Celine, otherwise it wouldn't really be considered a "duet". And Ne-Yo doesn't rap, he's an R&B singer. I've never heard him rap? He has a beautiful voice! http://fotos.fotoflexer.com/c162f14a9595ca5d0be775a79a3775ff.gif "Live, for the one I love. Love, as no one has loved. Give, asking nothing in return. CelineAndRene Posted June 8, 2012 at 08:37 PM Posted June 8, 2012 at 08:37 PM I like the song Rolling In The Deep, but not to replace the MJ medley Celine sings those MJ songs because she loves MJ and wants to pay tribute to him, how can they cut out the MJ medley Also, Rolling In The Deep is just one song... One song to replace the whole MJ medley?! I don't buy into that. With any artist. I honestly see all these "MJ" tributes nothing more than a marketing move. Singers could have payed tribute to him when he was alive, yet they didn't. Celine is no exception to this theory of mine. I would have loved a Whitney or Donna tribute, as they are much more worth remembering. Adele has 3-4 hits, not worth a tribute by someone of Celine's status. IMO "...It's the circle of life. You gotta look forward. Two days during the year there's nothing you can do about: yesterday and tomorrow. Today is a great day." - Celine Dion, People.
