I hated her voice during the TC era..if that's the case I hope it's still newly recorded. It's strange that something as huge as a Neyo duet would've been put on the backshelf for that long though. It was never mentioned by Neyo (and he mentioned Celine quite a few times) during the TC era

 

if it is a leftover, maybe they only recently decided to make it into a duet

 

 

PS I actually think I got nothin left was a horrible disappointment. The song was blah, and her voice sounded like a chipmunk

I like the title and the direction of the album... I hope Mr. paganini is inside too.. and not michael jackson medley...too popular the original songs tomake them like a studio version... It's a pitty it has dissapeared I Got The Right to Sing The Blues... what a great song... And I would take out Open Arms.. it is a very tipical 90's ballad.. and from mariah... no no.. better don't... Water and a Flame cover would be interesting.. I listened that song few years ago.. can sound interesting in celine's voice and it's a fresh underground sound... If they include "only" these songs it will mean 6 covers. Usually Celine's albums have 15-16 songs so we could still have a lot of new songs. Maybe the album include two cds, one with the vegas songs called water (or a flame) and then other one with only new songs.. This could make sense..

And where did you get the info that Adele's song would replace MJ? I'd be more than happy if it would replace Stevie Wonder's duet which is random too... MJ medley should stay. It's the wisest cover choice for the show (inspiration for Celine etc)

Not a week ago we had another french interview where they said Céline wanted an english album full of original songs and that the Vegas covers were not being included anymore, and today this? It's as if we went back to 2010 all of a sudden! 1 and a half year waiting to have precise news about this album just to be in the same point as in early 2011?

The Adele thing is ridiculous. The song is SO recent in people's ears and many feels up to their eyes with the song because it has played 24/7 for many time... What's the point in covering such song now? Wouldn't have to be the opposite, Adele covering Céline?

 

Céline please, just cover y-o-u-r-s-e-l-f. Someone has to give her all her discography and remind her how many great songs she has recorded and that people would like to see her perform them live at least once.

Looks like the excitement is starting even on the official site. This is what they said today:

During April and May, Celine began recording songs for her next English and French CDs which will be released later this year. The French CD will feature all new material and the English CD will feature studio versions of previously unreleased songs from her Las Vegas show, as well as several brand new songs. "We do a lot of songs in the show that I've never recorded before, and people are always asking for these when they visit our Boutique, so it's great that we'll finally have these recorded.” Celine added, "I've also received some amazing new songs that I'm very excited about", and eventually we hope to put one or two of these into the show." We can’t wait! Until then, you can see Celine perform in Las Vegas this summer.

 

Also, thanks to the official site (at least they posted something of use in months!) we know today a possible reason of why they insist so much in singing covers. It looks like Céline and René are more concerned in what albums Céline sells more in "the Boutique" instead of building her own original repertoire. Well, have they ever thought to include in the show more of the songs she ALREADY has recorded in her albums, so maybe people will also ask in the boutique for these Celine Dion albums? Maybe its a good idea, eh René, instead of worrying about picking new covers all the time?

SO here we are again. Back to the Vegas songs album. I was excited about that to begin with, but this gets confusing.

I've been in this forum since 2005 (I guess) and through the years I've had the chance to observe and make a good revision of Celine's career, of course taking on different points of view from times to times as a consequence of the changes of my own piece of mind. So what is evident to me is that Celine never actually had a personal identity concerning the musical direction of her albums, the collaborations and so on. She only did when it came for the Miracle album and not surpsingly since we all know the special bond that she holds with motherhood. And there, much more clearly one can she that she's in full charge, devotion and it's the only thing she keeps talking about since 2001 when she became a mother. The rest of it, every album concept, every songwriter and every collaboration-even Titanic song itself- has been Rene's choices. I dare say, it must have been like that since her very first record in 1981.

 

So I really wonder why some of her supporters are desperately waiting and find it difficult to understand why Celine is not acting like the biggest female singer in the world, a title that should give her every right to defend and fight for. But excuse me, when has she done so in the past? 90's are over and party is over as well. Popular music is like fashion and changes. The markets are promoting the new artists because pop music in a product that must sell like hot cakes.And people don't buy records anymore. Should she change into house and electro-pop music or rn'b, just because we need to have Celine Dion posters and radion adverts? Do you think people would respect such a change? Do you think that an artist's personality should be modified in order to achieve recognition? If that's the case, then sorry but maybe I don't belong here. It's soo clear she doesn't want any rush and craziness anymore! She's not even thinking about turning again into "queen" and in my opinion she will only remain if she keeps what she's done so far on the same quality. I don't remember Tina Turner had to jump on any "Oops I did it again" to regain any glory. Celine has taken another position and feels good with that. And she's fully conscious of that choice. This time Celine decides how things will be done concerning her work program, except for the album's stuff. She wants to be a good professional in a safe and ensured environment. That's why we had a 5 year A New Day.. show with the first child and now it's repeated with the twins' arrival.

 

What I do respect about Celine-and I suppose that's the connecting bond between her and her fans-is the unmistakable down-to-earth personality, the discipline she has and leads her to respectful accomplishments, the fact that she's a descreet artist who never humiliates herself-elements that constructed this remarkable image for 30 years now. And don't get me wrong, that voice is still a reason to fall in love with and -thanks god- she still records in french, the only thing that keeps the flame inside me alive!.

If I were you, I would only wish that what she'll have to offer will sound nice in my ears-that voice will surely bring some emotions (But if she goes "Forget me not", then "Forget ME yes").

Please relax and have fun with what you get from Celine you love so much. But of course, never praise what you think you don't deserve to receive...

Finally, an interview that is all about music! There must be a huge storm on its way. I'm glad to hear Celine and Rene talk about the albums and the music industry for a change, but there is still a huge communication gap between them and Celine's fans because they clearly do not always know what her fans want.

 

The album title kind of reminds me of one of our local artists' recent albums, which was called ''Sand and Water''. It had exactly the same theme. The other funny thing is that she is often compared to Celine because she also has a huge voice, and she also sang ''The Prayer'' once with Andrea at some event here in SA. I do like the title though. Sounds different for a change. However, I am not fond of the idea that they are putting all the Vegas covers on the album, especially ''Overjoyed'' and ''Lullabye''. I thought that they are going to drop that idea after the news we got the other day. I really hope that the rest of the songs are originals.

 

Not sure what to think of her collaborating with Ne-Yo. ''I Got Nothin' Left'' was one of the worst songs Celine has ever recorded, so I really do hope that this song will be better.

this does not fit to celine's status. i rather have her pay tribute to whitney or something or another artist with more status than adele.

Couldn't agree more! You are spot on. The firt tree will do very well. I never knew HDYKTMP was confirmed however! That's the finest cover song in her show (that and Ne Me Quitte pas).

 

Overjoyed and Lullaby are the worst tracks of her show. Really didn't need those on a cd. Guess the cd will capture all aspects of the show though, both highs and lows.

 

NMQP on BOTH albums sounds unlikely. Hopefully my wish has come true though that we will get a haunting version of If You Go Away (English version of NMQP) on the English album though!!

I'm excited! Yes, I am!

 

My point of view nowadays is similair to that of Lapou and of celinedionfan, I don't expect any big bomb anymore and that's why I also can be happy with what I/we get. And if I'll get surprised than I'll enjoy that even more but it's just better not to expect too much or unrealistic things.

 

I haven't been following the rumours about this album so I didn't even know there was a new idea for it, without Vegas covers. I've been counting with the covers from the day one, or else with 2 English albums but the "non-cover" one in more far future.

So this, probably final, outcome is legitim and is what I've been expecting.

 

Like someone before me said, Céline has been doing a lot of covers almost from the beginning of her career and there were loads of them that we used to love or probably are still loving so why is that so surprising?

 

I understand their point about putting Vegas covers on the album to satisfy those who come see her in Vegas and probably don't know much about her music except for "MHWGO" and those people, after the show, want to buy a keepsake, an album that contains the songs they've just heard in the Colosseum and not some otherr stuff they don't know and have never heard.

Of course they could record a live album for this general public but guess they want to catch 2 flies with one clap and satisfy both, general public who just goes to see Céline as their addiction to a Vegas visit and the real fans who already know all Vegas songs by heart and want to hear beand new music from her.

 

Of course if it were for me, I would want only new stuff on both upcoming albums and than a live CD/DVD/BD of the Vegas show.

But as I'm not part of Céline's team, I have to accept and enjoy what I'm getting.

 

I have to say that I'm actually happy that she's still singing and recording for us!

Of course she does it also because of all the money but if she wouldn't care at all for music anymore, she has enough money to retire and vanish from the spotlight.

 

I hope to be honoured to listen to her voice for many upcoming years and I'm talking about new recordings and live performances, not about playing old albums and videos, lol, although i love all of these too, of course!

 

As for Adele, I see your point, Ester, about Céline rather paying tribute to Adele than the other way round but I have to confess that I'd really love the two ladies to sing together - but preferably on a show like "Divas Live" or "Grammy" or such than on a studio album or, worse, as a virtual duet in Vegas.

But that's just because I really love Adele and her music.

 

If Céline would like to do another medley tribute to an another artist in her Vegas show, I much rather prefer her doing a Whitney or a Barbra trubute (altough the latter could easily turn out boring, really depends on songs' choices).

 

Anyways, I'm excited about this news and I'm eagerly looking forward to the upcoming buzz!!!

Celine has jumped on the "Adele Train" so to speak along with every "Idol" "Voice" reality singing hopeful... People are getting tired of hearing "Adele style" even Adele is tired of hearing Adele Not crazy about the songs from the show Lullaby (I know its for her kids... but *yawns*) Seventeen she preformed back in 2008 at the Grammys (I know its a recording of it but still *yawns) Overjoyed? why not If you can't Sing It or Goldfinger even? What is it with Céline fans and the eagerness to jump to conclusions in the speed of light on any speculation that comes up?

 

WHERE does it say that Ne-Yo will do rap on the track he's handed Céline?

WHERE does it say that Céline will COVER an Adele track for her next album and make it the album titel?

 

These subjects are lifted as a possible assumption of fans. Yet in one post later it is assumed to be facts written in stone.

 

It truly amazes me: Céline fans beat any half good conspiracy theorist on amphetamine by far when it comes to jumping to conclusions.
