Latest confirmed news - UPDATED JANUARY 11, 2013

• Singer/songwriter, Dana Parish has written a song for Celine called Always be your girl.
  
• Nadine from 'Girls Aloud' is working on her English album.
  
• Four or five songs have already been recorded for the English album, the rest will be recorded later in Florida.
  
• Tentative name is "Water and a Flame". It's possible the name will be changed, there are a few to choose from to be decided on January 9, 2013. No confirmation yet.
  
• Tentative April 2013 release date

The title of the upcoming English album for Celine Dion will be Water and a Flame. The idea came from a collaboration for Celine with British Producer Francis Eg White, who works with Adele. Celine is a big fan.


 

“She wrote me a song,” Dion says. “It was a great experience working with this man. She has a great personality, she is very generous and very emotional. The title is perfect for this album. Water for new songs and the flame for the songs I do during my show.”


 

At the top you can work with the best. Céline fans will hear her sing with Stevie Wonder, the American rapper Ne-Yo. Babyface is one of the major contributors to this highly anticipated album along with producer Fraser T. Smith.

 

Céline’s voice is at its best on these two albums in English and French. The first day, she recorded four songs. Which is phenomenal for me. She still knows how to impress me,” said Rene Angelil.

 

Work on these two albums was done in Florida at Echo Studio.

 

“The healing of my voice took three weeks. After that, I was able to dive back in,” said Céline, very excited about the new albums.

 

“Fans respond to my invitation by coming in large numbers to my Las Vegas show. But these albums are like gifts and I give them with great pleasure.”

 

Singing in French and English: The Difference

 

Celine Dion hasn’t had a record out in French since 2006. Now, she and Rene are excited about the collaboration of Jean-Pierre Ferland and Luc Plamondon.

 

“Jean-Pierre Ferland’s song, “I Do Not Need Love,” is a masterpiece,” says Rene Angelil.

 

“It’s very current,” says Celine. “It is the story of a man called to war who comes back and realizes that everything has changed. I am blessed.”

 

Both albums come out this fall in October. The English will come before the French album.

 

“The dates are not decided yet,” confirmed Rene Angelil. The reminaing work on the two albums will be held in late summer at the back of the family home in Florida after the shows in Las Vegas that wrap up on August 20th.

 

Singing in English and French, is it different for Celine Dion?

 

“It is like wearing jeans and an evening gown. You can not get a change of blood. French is my home, my roots. This is what I live first. French is a more domestic energy and it’s more poetic. But when I sing in English, there are other emotions. As a singer, I cannot choose; I need both.”

WOW, looks like Celine is finally starting to have DECENT interviews. First the great one at The Today Show, and now this one which is even better. I love when she is interviewed by Le Journal De Montreal. I'm glad that she's a fan of Adele and so excited that she recorded with Ne-Yo! Is it a duet or just a collaboration like I Got Nothin' Left?

“There are so many changes in the industry that sometimes I say, my God, I wish radios still had love songs. Will I have to undress?” she says, laughing. But she adds in the same breath, “I think the winning formula is staying true to oneself. The technology is good, but we need balance. That’s why I think the arrival of Adele was so refreshing. I think we need to seize the best of both worlds. On my English album I liked this collaboration with rapper Ne-Yo. It was fascinating.”

Rene Angelil concludes, “Yes, the industry has changed. Young people buy their music in other ways. But there’s always room for a beautiful song, and yes people are buying fewer albums, but continue to consume as much music. Show business is not dead. We just have to adjust to the times. I believe we must continue to make good songs for the fans. This is another form of communion with them.

“I think this is my way of saying thank you for this great loyalty,” says the one and only Céline Dion.

Personally, I'm quite happy. I think a studio version of Overjoyed will be great. Can't you just be happy that, this time, Céline is doing a duet with a blind black man instead of another dead white man? It's progress, people!

Maybe it's another song but with the same title, who knows? By the way, I'm very curious to hear the studio version of How Do You Keep The Music Playing! I wonder if they'll make it as the Vegas version (a self-duet) or a solo version. I also think that Ne Me Quitte Pas is going to be just in the French album, it suits it better.

 

About the collaboration with Ne-Yo, when I first heard it was gonna happen, the first thing that came to my mind was the song Love The Way You Lie, by Eminem and Rihanna. Now I understand why Celine reacted that way when the woman asked her if she'd like to record with Eminem (at the today show). She said "maybe you'll be surprised".

 

So, the songs from this upcoming English album that have me more excited are:

 

*Open Arms; a studio version of her rendition of this song could be stunning, it's probably gonna be one of the highlights on the album.

*How Do You Keep The Music Playing; for the reason I explained above

*It's Incredible; this is gonna be one of her most interesting albums! I mean, including a duet with a rapper in an album that features songs such as Open Arms and Overjoyed?!?! Glad to see that René is finally taking some SERIOUS chances

Looks like the excitement is starting even on the official site. This is what they said today:

During April and May, Celine began recording songs for her next English and French CDs which will be released later this year. The French CD will feature all new material and the English CD will feature studio versions of previously unreleased songs from her Las Vegas show, as well as several brand new songs. "We do a lot of songs in the show that I've never recorded before, and people are always asking for these when they visit our Boutique, so it's great that we'll finally have these recorded.” Celine added, "I've also received some amazing new songs that I'm very excited about", and eventually we hope to put one or two of these into the show." We can’t wait! Until then, you can see Celine perform in Las Vegas this summer.

I hope the new songs are good and that there are more new songs than the Vegas covers. Personally I don't care for Overjoyed, I never enjoyed it. It's a cheesy song and I think I will skip it when listening to this album. I think the working with Ne-yo is again an attempt to get famous at a new audience, but I am not so interested in the rap-stuff. It's gonna be exciting how the new songs will sound.

I like the album title very much but I wonder why it was so neccessary to record the same songs she does in her Vegas show. Why not afterwards making a dvd/livecd from the concert, that makes more sense.

She also writes, fans are coming in large numbers to the show. Yes the fans that can affort the plainticket and the expensive concertticket. But there are more fans that are desperately waiting for the new stuff! can't wait!

Water and the Flame... a very "visual" tittle. I can see the back cover half sea and half fire; with the songs from Las Vegas listed on the water and the flames as background for the new recordings on the tracklist. Very exciting, I also can not wait to see the photoshoot!

 

It's early June, so we are about 4 months away from the release of the album. I don't think the lead single is too far from us now!!
