yeah it was performed on the tour, but there’s some confusion as far as the dates go, I don’t think it was performed in Quebec. Interestingly enough it seems as though Water from the Moon was not a more consistent part of the set list until late 1992 or early 1993.

It's was almost 33 years in march 30 that this album was released, the day of Céline birthday. A lot of interview in papers in Quebec around the period of this album and sometimes the biography of Celine cited the making of this album:

 

-Originally she recording the theme song of Speilberg American Tail Fievel Goes West after Linda Ronstadt refused the song and Tommy Mottola refused that originally refused when the singles of Unison was released in US. After the ending of Unison era, Tommy Mottola accepted and she recording the song. But unfortunatly, Linda Ronstadt changed her mind and Speilberg dropped Celine vocals to help Linda to return after she make the theme song of the first movie. During the time, when Disney work on Beauty and the Beast, Disney decides to make a pop version of Beauty and the Beast and Chris Montan hear Where Does My Heart Beat Now in radios and wanted Celine. It's was few days after Speilberg dropped her vocals to Dreams to Dream.

 

But devasted to she didn't make the theme song of Speilberg movie, she didn't listen the demo of the song. It's was only in the plane to travel for Montreal who she listen the demo and she originally didn't like it. She received a invitation also to saw the movie unfinished and she accepted. She loved the movie to she accepted to make the theme song of the movie. She thinking to she was with David Foster, but when she arrived, Tommy Mottola told her to Walter Afanasieff produced the song and this is how she meets the first time Walter. She loved so much working with him that she wanted to work with

 

-She originally recording few tracks with him and Ric Wake in New Work, but Walter accepted to travel to finished this album in Quebec studios (in Morin-Heights) just few steps of her house who she lived between 1991-1994.

 

-Tommy present Diane Warren to Celine, who Diane present a lot of songs for her. She loved what she present and five of the songs she present ending on the album.

 

-Celine didn't know to Patti Labelle make If You Asked Me To when Diane Warren present this song for her until when she recording the song in LA.

 

-René and Tommy Mottola working to sign a contract with Sony international since the first contract with CBS in Quebec was for two albums (one in French, one in english) in 1986. when this contract was finished, the two re-newed the contract of Céline for five album during fall 1991 for 10 millions dollars, but with Sony International not just in Quebec this time.

 

-She make the demands for Prince to wrote the song for her. All think this wasn't guranteed to he give for her, since he not wrote songs for everybody at the base and was very selective. But during the time, Prince heard Beauty and the Beast and he wanted to wrote a song for her. She expected to received a up-tempo song but when she recevied the demo with Prince vocals of With This Tear, she surprised to she received a ballad, but she fell in love when she hear the song. Because he didn't have time to produced this song, he accepted to Walter produced the song. When he received the song finished, he call Celine and they spoke on the phone and he was satisfied to what Walter made on the song.

 

She started to working on the album in mid november 1991 in New Work, but she return in Quebec in january 1992 to finished the album with Walter Afanasieff. The album was finished in mid february 1992. René wanted to released this album on Celine birthday in order to surfacing with the Oscar who she performed Beauty and the Beast and was in nomination with the song. Inspired by her Michel Drucker apparation in 1983, The slogan of this album in US was Rene idea since she wasn't so much know in US and he give the ideas with the responsables of the promotions of this album.

thankfully both of those songs are uploaded to YouTube now, I think in a Google Drive folder that another member here shared with me they are available to, I'll have to check on love can move mountains for sure

NEWS: The album was now certified Platinum in Australia with sold 70 000 copies. Remember, when the album came out in Australia, this was the first entry in the albums charts, reaching n.15 in october 1992 and certified Gold in december 1992. Céline received her Gold Certification of Australia when she was in the press conference in Canada in 17 december 1992.

 

Following my post in the wrong topic, Céline was in Australia in October 1992. I wonder if the peak of the album followed her performance on the Telethon.

According to the title, this performance of Beauty And The Beast was from a Telethon in Perth, so i think this was the other time she did a promotion in Australia. She resumed the Celine Dion tour in the next month.

Prince's version of With This Tear:

 

 

"With This Tear" is the 13th track (and 12th song) on Céline Dion’s 17th album, Céline Dion (her second English-language album). The track was written by Prince, but was re-recorded by Dion’s own musicians for release.

 

Although specific recording dates are unknown, basic tracking took place in January 1992 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota, during the same sessions that produced Born 2 B.R.E.E.D., In A Word Or 2, The Continental, Damn U, The Flow, Qualified, and a revised version of Sex. Clare Fischer arranged and recorded orchestration for the song at Mad Hatter Studios in Los Angeles, California.

 

The song was originally written for Jevetta Steele, though it is unclear whether she ever recorded a version. It was later submitted to Céline Dion, who recorded her rendition on 12 January 1992, produced by Walter Afanasieff. The track was added to the album at the last minute, replacing Dion’s planned cover of Calling You, a song made famous by Steele in 1987.

 

In 1993, a short excerpt of With This Tear appeared in a segue from Carmen Electra’s self-titled album, presented as if heard while scanning a radio dial (alongside clips of Hit U In The Socket, In A Word Or 2, The Voice, Sexy M.F., and Goldnigga).

 

Prince re-recorded the song with the group Milenia in summer 2001 at Paisley Park Studios. This version was intended for Milenia’s debut album but was ultimately omitted when the project evolved into Our Story (2002).

 

Prince’s own guide vocal version of With This Tear, recorded between 1990 and 1992, was one of the Vault tracks slated for inclusion on the planned Diamonds & Love compilation, expected from The Prince Estate in 2022. That project, initially covering material from both the Diamonds and Pearls and subsequent eras, was later narrowed to the Diamonds and Pearls period, excluding songs recorded after October 1991, and With This Tear was therefore omitted.

This is a very interesting find! I like the violins in this demo... but Celine's version has more punch to it. But damn! Imagine a studio version of Calling You recorded in 91/92!! I wonder if she did record that...

I also loved that the belts in the last chorus was totally Celine's interpretation and she did not copy Prince's. Only Celine could do those belts.

I thought someone asked if she performed With This Tear anywhere else except the Tonight Show. I can't see that post now and maybe it was asking about something different.

But either way besides the tour performances, The Tonight Show is the only time.

Kind of random but i was seeing the numbers of daily views of Celine’s music videos on Kworb and i was utterly surprised that Love Can Move Mountains music video only managed to pull like 500 views in a day yet the underrated songs like Water From The Moon and Nothing Broken But My Heart videos could pull around 4.000 - 5.000 views in a day, even Halfway To Heaven (which is an audio only) pulled 1.000 views in a day.

 

I always thought that Love Can Move Mountains was one of her biggest hits considering that she always performed it and it was included on both All The Way and My Love greatest hits albums

No, I think that she feels obligated to sing LCMM in every show because it’s an uptempo number and she just keeps on adding it, although everyone is already sick of it.
