I wasn't calling your a "liar." I should have said that clearly the condition isn't common (how many times have you heard of this happening? How many of us work in a profession where our voice is the top thing we use?) and if anything, it's a poor excuse for Team Celine. I appreciate your posts, I was just merely saying that that's a bit of a stretch.

The whole cancer thing was nonsense. I didn't even read 95% of that mess so excuse me if I'm probably wrong, but wouldn't ya'll say that not singing due to the risk of cancer is comparable of cat lady not leaving her house due to risk of getting ran over by a bus?

i mean... the risk factor is there. And if you had to choose one singer on the planet that would have the highest risk factor for developing cancer du to over use of vocal cords, Celine would definitly be among the answer choices, Right? I don't want to go on and on about this, but if Celine never had used playback or lip synch, personally, knowing how much she sang during her entire career, i'd be worried about this risk factor for her. No? doesnt it make sense?

 

Anyway, fact is, that she takes care of her vocal cords and she does lip synch so "I" am relieved a bit. But you may not share my opinion. and thats ok

So I'm moving today and the guys who are moving me are from Jamaica. I asked this big muscular guy if he like Celine. He replied that he loves her and her music. I then asked him why so many Jamaicans love her. He replied that Jamaicans are a very loving people and that Celine's music speaks so much about love. He went on to say how much he loves all Celine's songs, especially Water from the Moon. Thought I'd share, now back to moving.

A little more about my Jamaican mover...so my conversation about Celine continued with my fellow Jamaican Celine fan as he proceeded to unpack my belongings. He talked about his love for Celine and that he had never seen her perform. Each time when he spoke of Celine he would stop what he was doing and with such emotion express so eloquently his love for Celine in his heavy Jamaican accent.

I shared with him my love for Celine as well and told him I have hundreds of her songs on my older iPod and that I really need to get a new one to add more. He chuckled and asked in a more serious tone if I had her French songs too and I replied yes.

I always keep my iPod close at hand and had already unpacked my iPod player.

I can't put into words what I felt when I started playing Celine's music as we unpacked....this very tall muscular Jamaican man singing along to every Celine song I played.

As my fellow Jamaican Celine fan was finished with his job, I gave him a hug thanking him for sharing his love for Celine with me. FYI, I could barely wrap my arms around this gentle giant of a man.

Of all the moving I've done in my life, this one was special....meeting such a sweet soul Jamaican man that loved Celine just as much as I do. I regret not taking his picture....it surely would have been put with all my Celine memorabilia.

I find it odd, a little bit.

I don't mean to be stereotypical, but usually where ever there is some "Celine" there is also some "gayness" near by. And I was watching a documentary a year or 2 ago and it said that Jamaica was one of the most homophobic country out there.

Celine is huge over there, but they seem clueless about how gay-related she is.

 

Ask your Jamaican friend what he thinks of homosexuality, i'm curious.
