remykyes Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:13 AM Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:13 AM All people lecturing me (ok, us) about it being abut the dead people and not Celine, thank you but no thank you. Keep your wisdom to yourself. They could have shown her and the pictures behind her. The thing is is that they tried that and there was a huge backlash from the communities of the respective awards shows and from the viewing home public. If they could, they would, but they can't. Alex_Incognito Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:14 AM Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:14 AM I raced home...and it's really icy out... to watch this! To my surprise our satellite signal was down due to the ice! Fortunately I found a stream of the show online! Celine was beautiful. Just beautiful, and her voice rich and warm. I'm very proud. I really am. Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990
sfbaysinger Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:14 AM Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:14 AM Wow!!!! I loved it!!!!! She was sensational! Merci Céline!!!!! I just love her so much! Wow! She impresses me again! And again and again and again!!!! Good-night everyone! J't'adore Céline, t'es la meilleure! I neverr thought it would be so hard for her to sing, but toward the end it sounded like it was emotionally difficult. But damn, I loved loved the long note in the middle. I also wish they would have introduced her, isn't that when some of us were planning our big moment, "the scream heard round the world?"!!Sounds like this should have been called Celine through the eyes of the Dead. But since I can't see pics and stuff, all I could hear was her and she was so so so amazing I cannot say it enough hard enough long enough deep enough she is so amazing!! Quote L'immensite de mon amour pour Celine! L'amour existe encore pour elle!
hida Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:14 AM Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:14 AM why celine has no intro?? i thought they cut in in my country.. but its true no? there's no intro..Y??!!!! n there not enuf screen time!!!!! Quote
Dion1st Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:15 AM Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:15 AM NO F*** INTRODUCTION?? HOW RUDE! Excuse my language, but i am IRATE! I'm with you 100%......... I've gotta believe someone on the technical team screwed up the introduction. After the commercial the female host wanted to "thank" Celine Dion for a wonderful performance. Too late lady! Celine spent her time and money to travel to CA to perform for them and she gets a slap in the face. What a frickin insult. Celine sounded magnificent tho.......just beautiful! I Drove All Night! Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:15 AM Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:15 AM Beautiful performance. I don't even mind that she wasn't shown, after all the Memoriam segment is not about the singer, but the greats who we've lost in the last year. She did look stunning though, for the few seconds we could see her. And what a voice! Ladies and gentleman, the powerhouse is back! And for those who are still annoyed with her lack of screen time... here's a little something that might cheer you up: Celine Quote

Belle Céline Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:22 AM Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:22 AM Some of you guys need to realize it wasn't about Celine, she was simply there to honor those who had passed on. They thanked and applauded her after the entire segment was over.I agree, big deal she wasn't shown the whole time. She looked great when they showed her. I think some people are making too big of a deal out of it, respect the people who passed away. riobeard11 Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:23 AM Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:23 AM I think it was brilliant! They didn't take away from the point of the segment: to remember those who passed away last year. They went right into it, and Celine was flawless. To thank both Celine and Halle after the break was very classy. I can't wait to hear this perfect new voice in Vegas! Quote

They recount that the last time she was at the Oscars was in 2007---she had to ask Rene! lol She says that the Oscars are very special to her and there's not very aware of the films because she's been so busy with her twins. Frida Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:24 AM Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:24 AM So don't ask the woman who just had twins and is putting together a new show in Vegas to come sing a 3 minute song with 2.5 seconds of screen time. They could have easily kept the camera on Celine while video of the deceased played on the screen behind her. I guarantee you Rene is going to watch this back and be in disbelief. They should have just asked her to prerecord the song in a studio and let them play it while they ran the video. I'm sure it is always a humbling experience for Celine to sing in front of Hollywood's royalty but there's 200 million people around that are watching as well. She's never looked or sounded better at the Oscars and of course something had to ruin her performance. She was asked to sing, which she did, and beautifully so. I am sure both Rene and Celine were very well aware of the fact that this was NOT about Celine, and that SHE was not supposed to be the main focus... Seriously people. winforlife Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:27 AM Posted February 28, 2011 at 04:27 AM Billy Crystal said the show was behind in schedule. The networks hate to run over so thank goodness I started taping when Jennifer Hudson's name was announced. Céline's sounded amazing. Initially I was disappointed that she was only shown briefly but for those who didn't know who was singing perhaps people will google the Oscars and the song Smile Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v119/LKlafter1/1367035680_small.jpg
