i thought i'd share this with you on the forum. not going to start a new thread seeing as there is a thread on the FIFA WC here.

 

basically this has been adopted as an "anthem" among many a south african at games such as this. becoming the so called anthem since the rugby world cup 1995 when the 62 000 strong crowd stood by the team after NZ scored in the extra time.

 

the song is called shosholoza, pronounced "shore-sha-lorza". it dates back many many years when the blacks were miners. it is a black south african folk song and when a miner was weak the stronger blacks would sing this to give him the strength to carry on. in later years the song took on a different meaning. basically "we will push the man who stands in the way out". so when the rugby world cup was on in 1995, the song was sung continually during the extra time by both white and black telling the team, we stand by you and we will see you win. we will push the team out and help you conquer.

I´m so happy she didn´t go I saw it because I love BEP, but all the concert was so bad organize, sound so bad and minute after minute was more slowly and down, shakira well she need subtitles to every language taht she tries to speak, is a good girl but such a bad singer, and she used to like her. Anyway is was a cheap concert and Celine didn´t belong there and I don´t know bad thing already started to happend there.

the only thing that I say is Celine was the only one that shows how southafrica really is in her amazind dvd, the news all stays in the cities and make jokes of their culture, don´t show what amazing country it really is.

that was because the local artists demanded to be a part of the concert. our local artists don't belong on that stage to share with the likes of alicia keys, shakira, black eyed peas. if they hadn't been given a place on the stage heaven only knows what would have happened in this country.
