How does the world cup compare to the super bowl in terms of audience?

It's SOOO much bigger. The opening ceremony is not as big as the olympics' one but the matches are.

 

 

i know i'm probably going to get banned for saying this because people are going to complain angrily but i dont want to see Celine singing at the world cup of soccer olympics or whatever its call. to me this presents certain dangers. for one its very dangerous. they always have riots at these things because its main attractions are rowdies and loud people. and the type of people who go to these things are not going to appreciate Celine's music. im so afraid of her getting booed. like they did at the Live 8 concerts.

 

Celine would never get booed in South Africa. She is HUUUUGE there.

Yeah, soccer fans are usually rowdy but I think the opening ceremony will have extremely tight security.

Yes, there was an article where she went into detail about how she was in hospital the day the opening ceremony took place, but that is not my point. I'm just saying that the press is not going to treat her kindly if this is true and she comes to SA. That is just my opinion anyway.

Celine Dion has planned to throw parties for South African orphans ahead of the 2010 World Cup

 

The Canadian singer wants the orphans to feel like they're a part of the tournament and has planned to organise parties with the 2010 theme.

 

While touring the country in 2008, Dion visited the African Children's Feeding Scheme in Soweto and pledged to give them R300 000 a year for five years.

 

The scheme feeds an estimated 26 000 impoverished children daily.

 

Dion visited the orphanage with her husband, Rene Angelil, and their son, Rene-Charles (9), even took part in dishing up meals for the children.

 

The feeding scheme has so far hosted nine parties for a total of 9000 children.

 

The singer wants this year's nine events to be themed around the World Cup with soccer-themed snacks, soccer balls for the children and staff in Bafana Bafana kit.

Her aim is to show the children how important the event is to the country and make them feel included in the global sporting event.

Dion said in a statement: "I am so delighted that we have entertained over 9000 children in Soweto, South Africa. I feel a part of this celebration when I receive the beautiful photo albums that are sent to me."

well i think it might be possible that she will sing the official (original!!!) song from the fifa worldcup...

all the other Euro... Fifa world cup have always an official song... i remember now like ricky martin (fifa 1998 france), nelly furtado (euro 2004 portugal), anastacia ( fifa 2002 dont remember where lolol)... and lately tony braxton and il divo in germany 2006...

if we think that celine is the best selling international artist in SA... it wouldnt surprise me that they invited her to sing the official song...

as for the other artists theres always an official 'soundtrack' also for the event... normally with the recent biggest hits... original or remixes... in 2006 for example shakiras bamboo (my hips dont lie) was on the soundtrack... of germanys tournament...

 

LETS HOPE CELINE WILL BE THE OFFICIAL VOICE OF FIFA 2010!!! its a huge event... with millions watching allover the world... much more than the olympics (since someone mentioned it before)...
