Yes, I agree. It totally depends on the market. But in general I don't think that she is not profitable. Also, sad to hear that she's not that famous in Spain. I am actually surprised. I was also surprised when in Greece someone at a record store told me that she is not that popular in Greece. I live in Romania and her, Madonna and Kylie Minogue were like huge stars over here. Celine is still respected and mentioned on TV and radio shows. I am curious about other countries if other members wanna debate on that subject. We tend to live in our bubble, where she is often mentioned and played, but what about outside? But, anyways, she is up there on top.

 

Céline has done very little promotion outside of Switzerland, the US, Germany, and France. It’s true that she’s highly respected and still at the top, but not many people in Spain are aware of that. In my country, there isn’t much of a following for Céline’s or Kylie’s music—practically none, in fact. Here, artists like Bad Bunny, Lola Indigo, Aitana, Mariah Carey (because of her Christmas song), and Ariana Grande are very well known. Unfortunately, our diva is not.

 

I’m not saying she’s lost her status, but here in Spain, she basically doesn’t exist for most people. Most of the popular artists in Spain today come from a TV show called Operación Triunfo, which is where at least 90% of our current singers got their start—Pablo López, Manuel Carrasco, Lola Índigo, Aitana Ocaña, Chenoa, and so on.

From what I’ve read, it’s the same in many other countries—people who aren’t die-hard fans like us, unfortunately, aren’t interested in a demo album. They want new music instead.

 

In Spain, people generally don’t listen to music from other countries; they mostly listen to Spanish music. Music from abroad holds very little importance here unless you’re a true fan.

This also affects CD sales. I live in a city that’s the capital of an autonomous community (similar to a state in the US), and there isn’t a single record store. You might find something by Céline if you’re extremely lucky, but your chances drop to zero when there isn’t even a place to buy music.

 

But the problem isn’t Céline herself—the problem is that her team has always promoted her in very few places, and not in Spain, which has severely limited her exposure here. In Spain, she only performed once, singing two or three songs at the 1992 Seville Expo.

Let me tell you something that’s very relevant, even though it’s not about Céline. I’m a big fan of the music group Fangoria, whose record label is Warner Music (the same as artists like Dua Lipa), and I have a friend who is the president of their fan club. Warner has allowed him to create an official fan club with the artists' own consent. I believe Céline doesn’t have an official fan club in that way.

The fact that my friend knows the group personally and is friends with them allows him access to a lot of rare archival material, like recordings (bootlegs)—but not poor-quality bootlegs, rather ones that are professionally recorded. The official fan club even releases CD versions of these rare or lesser-known tracks.

Why isn’t something like that done in this forum, for example? There are over thirty thousand of us—I think that’s more than enough to support such a project. Who knows? Maybe Sony would let us access the vault if we proposed something like this.

Just imagine, we could release physical editions of bootlegs, concerts that Sony has recorded of Céline but never released… But of course, the key is that we—the forum—would cover the cost of producing the physical DVDs or CDs. And naturally, we forum members would then buy those CDs or DVDs...

 

An entrepreneur takes the risk with their money and the uncertainty of whether the product or service will sell or not. But in this case, it’s not the company taking the risk with the money and reliability—it’s us. A company won’t take a risk unless it’s very confident that an idea will work. For them, profit is the priority, as is expected. In order for something like this to be profitable for them, they would need to sell a large number of CDs or DVDs with that rare material, because production costs are very high.

But for us, the costs wouldn’t be so high. They produce in mass quantities, while we would produce in smaller amounts, even on demand—something that doesn’t work for Sony, but it could work for us. In fact, we could even generate a profit that could go toward improving the forum’s services—like expanding storage space to make more Celine content available for download.

 

The most suitable option would be to call Sony Music rather than write to them. On their Spanish website, they themselves mention that they receive a huge number of messages and that some of them go unnoticed. Calling is a good way to explain the idea and see what they think.

 

I think Céline would be very happy with this idea. She herself said when she was younger that she loved seeing people imitate her gestures, and she also used to collect material about herself.

 

Just imagine if this worked—maybe we’d be enjoying a collector’s edition of the D’Eux album, designed by us, with everything we want, with the material we choose. And maybe Sony would only take a small percentage from each sale.

Are you sure about that? Because I've read it and I think that they are talking only about the new M6 program schedule for the next 2025-2026 season, not that Celine Dion's documentary is going to be released in September.

Here in France, the announcement of this documentary has been talked about a lot but they said that no specific date had been given yet. It can be anytime between next september and june 2026 (but obviously it will be before the end of the year)

SISDA is often quoted as second best selling French album after D'eux.

According to chartmasters the album has sold 4 Mio. copies worldwide.

There are 2 other albums: Samedi Soir Sur La Terre/F. Cabrel (also 4 Mio copies) and the Notre Dame De Paris Musical album.

I don't think there are unreleased songs from D'Eux, SISDA or D'Elles. But there is a song they showed during the recording of 1F4T that wasn't released. I hope one day they will! I wonder if there are any unreleased songs from DCP!

For example, I post by logging in several times. As a computer enthusiast, I can tell you that what is called “fixing” can’t really be done unless you have advanced permissions—meaning users with administrator rank. In that case, you can modify configuration options. I would venture to say that what could be behind all this might be some forum extension that isn’t working properly because it needs to be updated (something that hasn’t been done for a long time due to a lack of administrators). As I mentioned, I’m a computer enthusiast—I don’t know everything, but I manage quite well—so I would be willing to spend a day updating the entire forum to fix the technical problems happening now. But we’re in a closed loop, because without administrators here, I very much doubt they would give me that access, since I imagine moderators don’t have it either.

 

It’s a shame that this wonderful forum is in this state. These days, the forum takes a long time to load when you access it from Google. But it’s not just that—for example, it shows that the website is not secure, which puts us at risk of having photo downloads intercepted… etc., when we download something from here, and malware or ransomware could be introduced that infects our devices, causing data loss or unauthorized access to our banking systems. A long time ago, I wrote to the forum administration email, which I believe is managed by Koolan, and I never received a response. I hope the administrators show up, because for now we can access it more or less, but one day we might arrive and not be able to access it at all, losing so many threads and precious memories from so many years.

Right now, I have free time to do it—I’m on university vacation. If you gave me access, I could take a look and see if I can fix it.

 

The error of the session logging out automatically when you post is usually due to cookie consistency issues. Although it could also be some kind of extension.
