PuraVida Posted March 16, 2021 at 07:00 PM Posted March 16, 2021 at 07:00 PM Celine always looked good in men's clothes in the mid 90s. Dunno if we wanna extend that to late 90s, after all there was her backwards suit 1 Quote

Cause I wonder why they chose this one and what it's supposed to represent. Why did they make her look like a guy? This is a mens world? Lol) That’s the image Céline was going for in the mid 90s. I really like it as she looks beautiful, mature and it helps her escape that “diva” category which she’s so often wrongly put in. It also matched her personality on stage. That being said, when she kind of went back to this in 2003 it was a disaster. It just wasn’t as refined and classy as it had been in 1995. 2 Quote The best is yet to come...

Lol) Well, short hair on women has always been popular, moreso in 90s. On the album cover you can’t even tell she is wearing a suit Quote

PuraVida Posted March 17, 2021 at 01:23 PM Posted March 17, 2021 at 01:23 PM The short hair I guess I think the rest of the image matters to create a "persona" In 1993-94, she wore a worse short haircut and wore all these ruffled sleeves and lace and stuff.....and it just looked very bad. 1 Quote

Yes, that "new romantic" look was horrible. They had a sexy and elegant photoshoot for the TCOML album and for the Tour/DVD this bad outfit 😒. Edited March 17, 2021 at 02:17 PM by comingback 1 Quote

I meant the style of her apperiance in a way Quote

I think it fits. The wrong thing is that people associate it with the "negative" connotation of demanding b****, but since Celine is in music it takes on a completely different meaning. I think some magazines were calling her a pop diva even during the short hair days. Quote
smw Posted March 17, 2021 at 08:22 PM Posted March 17, 2021 at 08:22 PM (edited) I love that photo of her in the suit! She looks iconic. She was so iconic in late 1994 through 1995.Like when she was on the Sonia Benezra show in 1995... or at the World Music Awards. She just looked next level, untouchable. She had graduated to a Whitney Houston / Michael Jackson level pop star. By 1996, she catered her image to please the masses in the USA.Which worked beautifully in a marketing sense... it's just interesting to see how it all unfolded. Chantemoi Posted November 9, 2022 at 03:48 AM Posted November 9, 2022 at 03:48 AM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZq4-KdwgKk I was researching some lyrics from « Destin » when I stumbled on this cute video of kids singing the song. Imagine if Céline sang it with this kind of modern arrangement - do you love it or hate it? Anyway, the lyrics I'm having trouble understanding are from the bridge: Je prends le blues aux signaux des répondeursJe prends la peine aux aéroportsJe vis l'amour à kilomètres ailleursEt le bonheur à mon téléphone I'm understanding it as: I feel blue when I reach answering machines/voicemailI feel sad in airportsI feel love from miles/kilometers awayAnd happiness on my phone My trouble is the preposition à in last line about happiness to, on, in, from, or through the phone - and how it relates to love on the road. Is it like "feeling happiness through my phone" - as meant like the feeling of happiness is traveling through the phone line from someone else? Can anyone offer a different interpretation? 2 Quote

Celine said that she talked to her mum/family every day when she was on a World Tour in the 90s. So she and family were happy to hear from each other. That's my interpretation. happiness on my phone Quote

That's my interpretation. happiness on my phone Yeah, that’s what I assumed the meaning behind the lyric was, but it’s hard to translate that without going way off the map and rewriting it as something like, I feel loved from miles awayAnd [i feel] happiness when my phone rings That might be the closest I’ll get to an English translation 😅 Thanks for your feedback! P.S. if you have any insight about the first verse (voiles au volets de mes frères…opales autour de mes doigts), I’d be happy to hear it! Edited November 10, 2022 at 04:10 AM by Chantemoi Quote

But one thing to know about Jean-Jacques Goldman is that he likes to twist grammar rules, no matter the sense of the sentence is ! 1 Quote

MTJ Posted November 13, 2022 at 06:25 AM Posted November 13, 2022 at 06:25 AM I finally found the Special Ed of this, been looking for almost 3 yrs and finally found it The anniversary release? I really enjoyed all the demos it included. I wish they would do that for LTAL, though I guess CDs are dead now. Glad they're investing in better digitization, anyway! Quote
LukeD Posted January 8, 2023 at 06:52 PM Posted January 8, 2023 at 06:52 PM The album is such a Monster on Spotify - over 220m streams! I just got to appreciate how easy-listening it is. Very diverse both musically and lyrically, which I think adds to its replay value - a masterpiece! 2 Quote
LukeD Posted March 25, 2023 at 05:05 AM Posted March 25, 2023 at 05:05 AM I read on Wikipedia that PQTME has sold an estimated 2.1m copies in Canada and another 2.1m copies in France. Guinness World Record is cited as a source. Can someone confirm whether this is true? Quote

comingback Posted December 22, 2024 at 10:16 AM Posted December 22, 2024 at 10:16 AM The D'eux album photoshoot is amazing. But I prefer the black/white version, it fits the album.I really hope that Sony will do something for the 30th anniversary next year. A special CD/Vinyl Version + remastered LAP concert DVD would be cool. 2 Quote
