loonybox Posted August 15, 2009 at 09:05 AM Posted August 15, 2009 at 09:05 AM That letter from Lara Fabian is weird. I've never liked her. She is a pale copy of Celine Dion, she shouts and not sing. She changes her story all the time. When she first came out as a singr she said she was from Quebec, just like Celine. Then the newspaper realised she was actually Belgium. She is a stalker, tried to copy Celine and steal her image. I think Celine's entourage has always tried to avoid her because of her fanatism. I doubt a duet will ever be made with Lara fabian. 1 Quote
Dion1st Posted August 15, 2009 at 03:06 PM Posted August 15, 2009 at 03:06 PM I read many years ago in Cosmopolitan, that Sony tries to repeat its success they had with Celine by signing a contract with Lara. I've always thought about their duet- hope one day! This is so true. In 1999 I received an email from SONY Music strongly promoting Lara Fabian because of Celine's upcoming 2 year break. Wish I still had that email but it was worded something like, "if you are not sure which singer to follow now that Celine Dion is taking an extended break, we would like to introduce you to Lara Fabian." This was followed by a mini biography/album info and remarks on how close her singing style matched up to Celine. After watching a video and listening to several short audio clips, it felt to me that SONY was backstabbing and kissing off Celine since they made their millions or billions off her, and were now trying to find her replacement. I agree with so many other Celine fans that Laura seemed to not only try to imitate vocal style but also Celine's physical movements on stage from facial expressions to arm movements to body stances. It was like watching a very very bad impersonator! I sent an extremely angry response to the SONY contact expressing how disgusted I felt about their promotion of Lara at Celine's expense. To their credit, I did receive an apology and explanation of their intentions and a cute remark; Something to the effect of, "not messing around with Celine & her fans!" I'm not sure what to make of Lara's letter to Celine. Sometimes it sounds sincere, other times a bit uncomfortably wierd..... But I do know I wouldn't care to watch Celine sing a duet with her. Because of Lara's penchant to imitate Celine on stage, maybe it would be more suitable to have one of Celine's wax statues do a duet with Celine than Lara! Modesty Blaze Posted August 16, 2009 at 01:13 AM Posted August 16, 2009 at 01:13 AM I agree Lara is to much obsessed with Celine. She wants to live Celines life, to be Celine in every way. Lara constantly copied Celine, and to much , as if she cant live, if she doesnt steal at least one piece of Celine you know the way on wich Celine walks, talks, performing and dancing on a stage and it looks stupid, because Lara doesn't know how to dance and she everything sings in the same way.Lara also copied the way Celine is dressed on tv shows, concerts and in private, Celines funny faces and goofy faces, jokes, hair styles, music videos, producers ,songwriters, composers for English albums, her french albums from the early 90 has a style of Celines songs from "Celine Dion" album and " The color of my love"album, then she copied guitar music from Celines French albums "Celine chante Plamondon","D'eux". Songs from"Sil suffisait daimer" , or "1 fille& 4 types" pop, rock with Canadian country style Lara also used for some songs on album"9" like for L'homme n'avait pas de maison etc...With new album "Toutes Les fammes En Moi"(Lara interprets songs of famous female french singers including Celine), also takes her chance to copied Celine again .She used gospel choir like Celine used in "S'il Suffisait Daimer" album and try to sing L'hymne a L'amour as Celine sings Call The Man, and it seems Lara can't sing gospel .Arrangement for Noit Magique sound like Celine Berceuse., but this doesnt help her, because creatics definde "TLFM" album "like a massacre, caraoke singinig, with cheap autdated synth arrangments".Her man (not husband ,but she has daughter wit him) is Gerard Pullicino who worked with Celine on her concert tours during the 90. Here are the pictures to prove something of this. Quote

You can call Céline a copy cat too, cos more than 30% of her songs are covers! these posts are just bullshit!! It's quite common for one artist to cover different songs of other artists.... It's quite another thing to mimic their physical actions while performing on stage. I posted earlier, in 1999 SONY sent me video links as part of the promotion of LF in the English speaking countries. I had never heard of her before that and certainly never saw any performances of hers. My very first and quick reaction was that this woman was mimicking Celine's physical gestures for sure. There wasn't one English speaking Celine fan I knew back then that did not have the very same reaction. Modesty Blaze did a very nice job of posting the photos to back up comments of so many others here of how much LF was mimicking Celine even on album covers, stage performances and photo shoots. I am not out to bash LF whatsoever. But, if these pics are genuine, then it is more than very curious as to how many poses and outfits mirror Celine's outfits. Seems like a very fair comparison to be making. If you choose to not agree with what looks like the obvious, that's certainly your choice. This subject is nothing to argue about. But calling these posts "bullshit", is unnecessarily rude. And I know she wore a pale pink ballgown similar to Celine's from the LTAL 10 years ago but I can't find a pic. Edit: it's above, d'oh! Edited August 29, 2009 at 12:08 AM by Thomas Quote

elsietang Posted August 29, 2009 at 12:22 AM Posted August 29, 2009 at 12:22 AM Looks like this Lara Fabian has no sense of style AT all!! I know we all love and are obsessed with Celine but this is really beyond obsession and is totally weird!! I'd say, Celine run as far away as you can from her!! Quote
Acacia Posted August 29, 2009 at 12:30 AM Posted August 29, 2009 at 12:30 AM The problem I have is that she goes to such extremes to copy Celine, with the clothes and picture poses. As a fan, I have picked up some of Celine's physical actions. I don't mean to, but I become so accustom to seeing/hearing the behavior that I gradually pick up on things without knowing it. Such as "If I may" becoming a part of my vocabulary. I'll say it without realizing it! I don't want to be the girl that everyone knows as completely Celine obsessed. So, I don't go out of my way to match Celine. Wearing the same clothes and doing the same picture poses, I feel that's going out of your way to do it. A few would be okay, but to have a collection that's going too far. Plus, her being in the spotlight, it's worse to match this much. I've never heard Lara sing, so all I know is that she's the "obsessed Celine Dion fan". Even after hearing her sing, it would be hard to take her seriously. She should make a name for herself and not copy Celine. Quote http://oi52.tinypic.com/2aaavxd.jpg ♥ Thank you, Céline for giving me the greatest birthday I could ask for! ♥
ZoraSourit Posted August 29, 2009 at 12:34 AM Posted August 29, 2009 at 12:34 AM the niciest lara related topic in this forum has become another bashing topic. hahahahah I should have seen it coming. Anyway... I admit that some of the outfits are way to similar and maybe it was a bit to much for Lara to go there... but c'mon, being honest, she's a Céline fan for what we can see in her letter, she's a lot like us, she admires her like we do. You never ever copied Céline style? The only difference between we and her is that she has the money to do that better than us and she's in the public's eye... which probably isn't that good for her reputation, as we can see in this topic. I refuse to go on bashing her. Quote http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y179/zorasourit/2.jpgAntwerp ~ Paris ~ Dublin ~ Amsterdam ~ Berlim ~ Milan ~ ArrasSome people need no slogans or presentations. Bcause its to easy to wear chothes of the same style without noticing it. I mean the colors, angles of shooting, postures, and layout of the picture. Someone must be copying someone for sure. It wuld be more clear if it has time marked on each pic.But some pictures are totally too over exaggerate, come on, they are not even close.I remember Celine copied some of Elvis' postures as well, and she still uses them often. Belle Céline Posted September 19, 2009 at 06:39 AM Posted September 19, 2009 at 06:39 AM (edited) Okay I'm sorry but I'm going to have to agree with some of the people who said Lara is totally copying Celine. After seeing those photo's of the same outfits, gestures while singing its just to obvious. She's a total copycat of Celine. Imitation people always say is the biggest form of flattery but this woman is down right trying to be Celine. Its creepy if you ask me. I mean yeah sure you could say oh well the outfits could just be coincidence but really? Come on, why would they just "happen" to be wearing the exact same outfit? They wouldn't. Lara is copying Celine because the outfits she wears are after Celine wears them, at least I'm guessing she see's Celine in it and then copies the outfit and stage gestures and singing style. I just don't like that she copies here and there is to much photographic proof to say she doesn't copy Celine. Belle Céline Posted September 19, 2009 at 06:42 PM Posted September 19, 2009 at 06:42 PM (edited) Just because Celine covers songs doesn't mean she totally copies the singer that sang it before she, she doesn't wear the same clothes, she doesn't mimic their gestures or singing style like Lara does. She may a bit but not nealy the extent that Lara is copying Celine. Noid Enilec Posted October 6, 2009 at 01:14 PM Posted October 6, 2009 at 01:14 PM These photos just go to show how internet information can be skewed and people will draw conclusions with inaccurate information. The images used above to show that Lara is copying Celine aren't even dated... for instance, Lara's "La Difference" (1999) came out before the book "My Story My Dream" (2001) was even released... so are we going to say Celine was copying Lara there? I doubt it. While you can't deny that the photos are creepily similar and Lara got many ideas from Celine, in a lot of the pictures used to show Lara is copying Celine, Lara took the photo first! I like Celine and Lara a lot, and I think Celine is 10x's better, is more unique, and just a superior performer... but whoever put these images together wasn't really looking at when the photos were taken...
