I will do some research.. I saw a really nice Jimmy Choo bag in a story last Saturday, I didn't notice the name of the model.. my bad, cause now it will take me ages before I've looked it up. haha. ^_^ But I don't think I'm going for that bag.. I'll wait one more week till I'm in America.. let's see what they have to offer me.

I'm a.. how do you call it.. uhm.. doubter, I always doubt. When I was in Los Angeles last year I saw a BEAUTIFUL Oilily bag (I have one standard Olily travelbag but I am actually not so fond of them.) This one was lovely.

It should have cost me a lot of money so I decided to not buy it, and now I'm still sorry I didn't get that bag.. and Oilily doesn't even exist anymore now haha.

Oilily? I have to admit, I've never heard of it before.. got any pics?

WHAT.. YOU'RE KIDDING ME. Really?

Yeah, wait I'll search a photo..

Look.. The orange one is my Oilily bag, still not familiar? Well, mabye it is not that famous in Sweden?

Yeah, I teach Frida something new about brands  . haha. Sorry, just kidding.

haha, that's what I said.. I'm not fond of it either.. but the bag I saw in LA was just too beautiful.. it was not like Oilily at all.. It was white and peacefull.. haha. But I like my orange Oilily bag.. got it from my grandma so I'll wear it every once in a while.. It looks good on me and the quality is superb, but it's not exactly my style... poor Grandma.

Like you all, I've found a lot of good brands in the States for particular items. I don't know if you have Gap Inc in Sweden, Frida, but Banana Republic is my place for jeans (Gap Inc owns Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic). I've tried everywhere else here, and BR jeans are the only ones that don't loose their shape and don't fall apart. They also look more luxurious than many others. They're all $80 USD. BR is also the best place for suit jackets and pants. The hand stitching detail on the lapel is marvelous. Their suits are around $350, but the pieces go on sale. Macy's is where I get my cashmere. The company is called Club Room and they're great, and inexpensive... around $100. For a long time I shopped at JCrew because their clothes are all very classic English preppy... but they're over-priced for the quality, and I can find similar clothes at Target from time to time. You may have Ikea, but we have Target!

As for shoes... I think Cole Haan (with Nike Air) is the way to go. The shoes look great and are comfortable all day (without looking like you work in a restaurant). I'm also a big fan of Diesel for sneakers (as long as the logo isn't too ostentatious).

And recently I've discovered the marvel of silk boxer shorts. They run $20 a piece, so not too bad, and they more comfortable than anything else. I'm only worried about how they will hold up in the wash. We'll just have to wait and see...

Neither GAP not BR habe their own stores in Sweden, but I have a vague memory that I've seen GAP from time to time.. might be at outlets though.. so yeah, people will have to resort to online shopping for those brands.. $80 for a good pair of jeans is fantastic!

I've often looked at JCrew on ebay and loved their stuff, never thought anything so far, sorry to hear that the quality is not up to par

And as far as I remember CH had excellent soles!

I wish we have Macy's here.

I loved Macy's in Vegas, much thanks to the wonderful SA Tawnya who helped me at the shoe department

There is nothing more beautiful than the Macy's in NYC. It's sooo big, and they have almost everything  .

wow I just found this topic and read through the entire thing and its fascinating! I absolutely love designer stuff but I'm gonna have to wait until I'm a bit older to afford it... but I did just get an Ed Hardy tee as a gift 2 days ago and I love it. I have really expensive taste BUt I usually get my clothes from Rue 21, Forever 21, Kohls, Charlotte Russe, and Wet Seal anywhere that I can get a good deal for what I can afford. I'm really good at making really inexpensive pieces look expensive. I didn't really have a style icon until Céline and ever since I've been getting compliments so I'm sticking with it. My closet contains everything from funky to classy. I think I'll post some pics later :P one of my latest accomplishments was getting the 9yr old that I babysit into shoes. She even introduced her parents to the wonderful worlds of Christian Louboutin and Jimmy Choo and they're about ready to kill me haha but I'm determined to own a pair. I can picture the day right now... it will be like walking on red-soled heaven :innocent:

haha, exactly the same here with me. Right now I don't have the money to buy designer stuff, my parents have... but they are not gonna buy it for me.

Besides why should I wear designer stuff at this age.. I think it looks quite silly when I go to school with my perfect LV bag and my louboutin shoes. Some do already have the impression that I'm a snob from a rich family, both I'm not. My dad does work hard for his money, but I'm not a spoiled child nor a snob..

I do like hockey.. and golf.. but so does Céline haha.

It's a good gift to be able to make inexpensive clothes look expensive..

Just because of my manners and style people always think I wear really expensive clothes.. Okee, to be honest, I do wear a lot of brands as TH, Abercrombie etc, but when I go shopping I do always look in cheaper stores.

Last christmas I found a satin-look-a-like purple blouse, it was really pretty and looked quite chic and classy on me, so I bought it, it was only 15 euros and no expensive brand. When I wore it i got compliments from the whole school.. They asked where I bought it and said 'it must be really expensive' haha. Now I still have it, and it still looks like new.. Well this made clair to me that I didn't always have to wear brands to look good...

Unfortunatly it hasn't changed my expensive taste...

Well, I think I'm going to study a bit harder then after the summer holiday. (A)

Age really doesn't matter as long as you're mature, it's all about how you carry yourself.. you can ooze class, but also complete trash, like this:

(Alma, a collaboration with Azzedine Alaïa in 1996 I believe)

But there is NOTHING silly with style :no2:

Haha. Mabye you're right...

I always look this tv programm, it's called 'bij ons in de PC, and it's about the PC hoofdstraat, the shopping street in Amsterdam with all the designer stuff etc. The old and niveau-rich are shopping here. It's a tv programm about the 'rich-life'..

Sometimes when I see those people I think gosh, I have more style and class then you in your Marc Jacobs dress... :giggle:

I would love to buy tons of designer stuff, and I think I would if there weren't other things I love to spend my money at. I love making trips and going on holidays.. This year I've been to Antibes with a friend, we flew to Nice and lived on a campus for a week, we learned french and tanned by the pool, went to the beach, visited Monaco and Cannes. It was really nice but expensive..

You see, I have many other guilty pleasurs.. haha. :blushing1: :innocent:

Back to the clothing..

I agree with you. It's about class, manners and behavior most of all.

And, I am proud of myself as I can say I do have class and manners, and I know my 'etiquette'. :-D

J.CREW has some Lanvin-ish jewelry in their webshop at pretty good prices

Yes, JCrew and BR are competitors.

Both take inspiration from Lanvin:

You don't have to spend a lot of money to get style, but most often for quality.. it's not about the label..

Jimmy Choo will design some pairs of shoes for H&M in store in november!! I can't wait! I would have prefered going to a Jimmy Choo's store and buy a real pair but I can't right now! I really need cash!!lol

Yup, I really hope that they go for quality as well, just not the design.. Not a collaboration for me though, H&M don't carry my size anyway.. can't wait to see the pics though! :D

Just remember that you bought them for a reason, the fact that they are inspired by something else is not a reason not to love them anymore! I have a few Nine West shoes that are obviously inspired by Prada, Louboutin and Lanvin, and they all look very cheap in comparison, but I love them just as much anyway ;)
