SensationalCeline Posted July 25, 2009 at 10:16 PM Posted July 25, 2009 at 10:16 PM (edited) Um.. question. I'm cleaning out my closet/ dresser drawers today. Exactly how many are too many t-shirts? LIke, sleepy time t-shirts or big comfy ones. My nicer t-shirts are in my closet hanging. I have a drawer of sleep/casual t-shirts. I cut that down from 3..... some of them were from 1990...when I was like...7. (They still fit haha). I also have 2 drawers full of pajama/workout/lounge around pants. Is that too much? lol. I'm a clothes hoarder! But when I move I don't want to take all that across the country. Just wondering in comparison with everyone else lol. back to culling... Well, I have two drawers total for the comfy/sleepy shirts and the pajama clothes but I also have to share a room with my sister so that's why I had to get rid of some of my shirts. But then we have a seperate drawer for socks and another one for panties/camies. edit: Like you, my good t-shirts that I wear off are hanging in my closet. SensationalCeline Posted July 25, 2009 at 10:20 PM Posted July 25, 2009 at 10:20 PM I have clothes from everywhere, usually if it's cute and I can afford it i don't care what brand it is My favorite store (that I can actually afford) is Express. Probably half of my wardrobe is from there and I used to work there for the discount haha. If I need something new and cute and only have $20 to spend, I hit up Forever 21. I subscribe to Elle magazine, I love it! I don't really have an IT bag. It would be an LV if I could have one though! I'm pretty much like you. I get my clothes from everywhere as long as they are cute and I can afford it and it looks good. I like to go ot Rue 21 and Ross if I'm short on money. Frida Posted July 26, 2009 at 08:10 PM Author Posted July 26, 2009 at 08:10 PM Frida, I need your help...I love Céline's clothing style, she's my style icon. As I cannot afford myself a closet with a 100 pair of Louboutin shoes, which I adoooore!, and 50 diffferent Balmain/Lanvin/... shirts/skirts/dresses/trousers etc., I was wondering if you could give me some advise. What can I do to look a bit like Céline, and not have to spend thousands...? I guess i'm not the only one having this problem, I see so many beautiful stuff around here... If I could I would buy them all haha. O and where do you buy your clothes, except from the Zara ? What's your favorite store? Do you have many designer stuff yourself? And I'm curious to know.. what do you wear yourself, how would you describe your clothing style? ps. Thanks Frida for doing this, I absolutely love this topic... Almost 100 pages And I have to read the last uhm, 20 one since I have been abroad for a while and didn't have internet. Hmm, I don't know where you should turn to for a specific designers look, but places like forever21.com, asos.com, bebe.com, mango, H&M and zara etc all have designer inspired clothes at low costs. Check those out! Until 3-4 years ago I used to get most of my clothes at H&M, zara, vila, vero moda etc, but eventually got fed up with the lack of quality in fabric and fit. It was clear that the items I had spent more on fit me much better, looked better longer and the style was much more "me". Since the price tags are substantially larger I tend to wait til the sale seasons begins.. I tend to think like this when I plan my budget: Underwear: spend at least $50 on a really good fitted bra, you reaaally need that basic to be top notch or you won't feel completely comfortable -> hence nothing else will look good on you. Cotton blend undies from H&M will do, they need to be replaced soon enough anyways. A couple of seamless ones from a good lingerie boutique, usually $20 each. Nude is a good colour. Tee's and tops: A place to save. For plain, thin strapped tops I go for H&M's L.O.G.G collection, the cotton is a whole lot greater than their regular. Mine were about $7-8 each.. I have them in black, white, dark blue, baby pink.. planning on getting more.. Jeans: A place to spend. I can take forever to find a good pair, and they might cost you, but the fit here is important.. I've finally found a (swedish) brand called NewHouse that has the perfect model for my bodytype (that's called "Frida" funnily enough). They retail for $160, I got mine at an outlet for $30-35. I think I have three of them so far. Pants/trousers: The cut here is really important, so I would spend up to $250-300 on a really, really good pair. My best (wool) pairs are from BOSS Hugo Boss that I got on sale for $150/each. Danish SAND and Bruuns Bazaar tend to fit me well too. For cotton blends I've found some really good ones at a place called InWear. Veeery afforable, around $80 I think. Cardigans/sweaters: Polyester blends are usually a no no, cotton is good, cashmere or cashmere/wool is great. I usually find good ones for $60-250 Jackets/coats: This is really the place to spend your money! I've gotten so many "H&M preiced" jackets that have been awful looking after a year, while my $550 wool jacket (that I got on sale for $200) is going on it's 5th year this fall and STILL looks brand new. I got a classic trenchcoat from SAND this spring for $440 (paid retail for once, it honestly was the only one that fit well), and a dove grey coat from MaxMara's sisterline SportMax at 50% off for $535. A LOT of money, but divided over all the seasons you'll wear them (given that you've chosen classic styles) they'll end up saving you a fortune. Shoes: Having problems with my feet it's extra important to have good soles, Tory Burch have excellent flats (circa $200), and Coach has got excellent soles as well. I have a good pair of boots from Nine West, so they don't have to cost a fortune. Bags: I want style, I want quality, and I want something that I can still sell and get my money back for when I've stepped outside the store. Therefore I'd rather have one bag that I love, rather than 10 that I won't get more than $3 for at a fleemarket. (I'm a Vuitton person) So yeah.. everything from H&M tee's and undies and up Oh, yes, these are some of the links in my favourites, excellent for inspiration or sale-shopping http://www.theoutnet.com/http://www.net-a-porter.comhttp://www.mytheresa.comhttp://www.luisaviaroma.comhttp://www.dvf.comhttp://www.matchesfashion.com/http://www.brownsfashion.com/http://www.saksfifthavenue.com Quote http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p234/celinedion_56/tcc2copy3_zps08f18352.pnghttp://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p234/celinedion_56/tccgallery-1.png

xl.dodo Posted July 27, 2009 at 04:03 PM Posted July 27, 2009 at 04:03 PM (edited) What do we have to do on a rainy boring afternoon... A few keywords to my style would be: Uhm, I always look well-groomed. Classic and quite girly A character/celeb whose style I love is: Céline, Kate MossIn my closet you can find: skinny/bootcut/flaired/marine-blue-colored/grey colored jeans, lots of blouses and polo's, long/short cardigans, sweaters and other vests, 2 summer dresses, skirt, wool bermuda, hotpants, a black jacket, trenchcoat, a kinda poncho, a looooooooooot of bags and scarves. My favourite items come from: Uhm, America Today, Zara, the Sting, Forecast and TH. Abercrombie and American Eagle, as for my American stuff. Any 'guilty pleasures'?: My beautiful white 'side look-a-like' tote, my 20 pair original havaianas from Brazil (hand-made, you can recognize them by a little Diamond on the strapp), my real-big-beautiful-cashmere Burberry scarf (nomatter what you do, it won't catch fire.. believe me, i tried.. to see if it was real haha. ), my cashmere scarves from India (they're huge!), my wool winter-coat (saw it in a little boutique and instantely fell in love.. I had to have it, although I had already a very beautiful coat.. Cost my a lot of money, also for the dry-cleaning, but it was worth it! -I have to say the picture doesn't do the coat any good..- Pictures:Voila, my closet, hope you like it haha. The last picture is how my closet normaly looks like.. ghehe. O and Frida, can you tell me the name and prise of the LV bag you bought (on page 9 or so..)? I love it! xl.dodo Posted July 27, 2009 at 05:03 PM Posted July 27, 2009 at 05:03 PM I know.. I love the Burberry scarves. It's only a pity that everyone wears fake ones... Nobody believed me when I said it was a real one, because they are very hard to get in Holland haha, I was like HELLO you can see it from 3 miles away if it's a fake.. haha. I don't think I would ever wear a 'fake product',I mean, if I can't affort a 'real' one, I'll search for something else but I DON'T WEAR FAKES! Besides, the fake ones are often just too ugly, especially the pink ones.. ieuw! (I'm sorry if I upset anyone by saying this, i don't mean to, it's only my opinion). But I don't think I'm going for that bag.. I'll wait one more week till I'm in America.. let's see what they have to offer me. I'm a.. how do you call it.. uhm.. doubter, I always doubt. When I was in Los Angeles last year I saw a BEAUTIFUL Oilily bag (I have one standard Olily travelbag but I am actually not so fond of them.) This one was lovely. It should have cost me a lot of money so I decided to not buy it, and now I'm still sorry I didn't get that bag.. and Oilily doesn't even exist anymore now haha.
