Ok so 10 am sounds good I think we have to consider the people who went to the concert on the 12th like Tam said ...

 

So count us in for chipping in on the car rent (it's me plus my sister Andrea). We're also both all in for the whole day experience. I was in Charlemagne back in 2001 and there was a carved stone sign "Bienvenue Ville de Charlemagne" also we took the tour inside Celine's old house. The store owner was super nice to us. I even did a little webiste about it back then. Now it's not working this is the link but it all the images are gone

Heure de rendez-vous: 10h du matin

 

Où: pas encore établit, mais ce sera au centre ville

 

Transportation:Nous avons besoin de savoir si vous venez et aussi si vous avez un véhicule ou si vous êtes partant pour en louer un. J'aurai un véhicule (certainement celui de ma mère) et veut bien participer à la location d'un véhicule (mini-van). Je sais que les Italiens (ils sont 11) m'ont dit qu'il en loueraient... Shea aussi devrait participer... et Andray serait d'acoord pour prendre un véhicule aussi.

 

ça prendra environ 1/2hr à 45 mins pour y arriver.

Le Tour de Charlemagne sera fait par Veronique (si elle veut bien être notre guide ), ou sinon nous ferons une petite ballade simple dans la petite ville. C'est assez petit aussi ça ne devrait pas être trop long pour voir les sites. Les sites sont: Le Monument Céline (le Globe), la maison familiale de Céline, son ancienne école, la mairie, l'église, et pour ceux qui le veulent nous pourrons faire une photo du boulevard Céline Dion.

 

Départ de Charlemagne: 11:45 & retour vers Montréal. Et direction le Restaurant Nickel's pour le lunch.

 

 

Après midi: Déjeuner (Diner pour les québécois ) au Nickel's

 

Pourquoi là: Céline & René furent partenaires de cette chaîne de restauration (maintenant sous franchises) lorsqu'ils ont ouvert. Céline a aussi aider à la création des uniformes et Maman Dion auraient apparemment cousu les premiers d'entres eux je crois. Il y a des memorabilias de Céline sur certains murs et il y a aussi un délicieux gâteau Céline au chocolat. Céline a aussi été interviewée dans l"un d'eux.

 

Où: Place Dupuis

 

Quand: à midi et demi

 

Transportation: La plupart arriveront de Charlemagne; pour ceux qui ne seront pas avec nous le matin il y'a une station de métro pas trop loin: BERRI/ UQAM. Andray, peut me corriger si je me trompe.

 

Durée: Aussi longtemps qu'on veut rester sur place!.

 

 

Fin d'après midi: Visite du vieux Montréal

 

Pour ceux qui veulent voir la Basilique Notre Dame où Céline & René se sont marriés et où RC fut baptisé. Si le temps le permet, nous pouvons nous ballader dans la vieille ville.

 

 

Soirée: Le dîner (souper pour les québécois) est optionnel mais si ça vous dit de continuer je suis partante, lol. Nous pourrions ainsi manger dans la vielle ville ou au centre ville.

 

 

fin de soirée: C'est parti pour Montréal by night!

 

Que vous soyiez avecv nous depuis le matin, le midi ou la soirée, on peut conitnuer mais vous pouvez aussi nous rejoindre àn'importe quand. Même juste pour un verre dans un des clubs de Montréal. Je ne connais pas trop les coins sympa mais je suis sûre qu'il y aura des experts de la vie nocturne de Montréal avec nous Sinon, j'appellerai mon frère qui s'y connait pas trop mal et sui pourra nous orienter vers des clubs sympas. Et ne vous inquiétez pas nous nous occuperons de vous même si vous avez trop bu Tant que nous sommes tous respectueux les uns des autres et que tout se passe dans une atmosphère sympatique.

 

 

LA FIN.... mon dieu, c'est vrai toute bonne chose a une fin n'est-ce pas?! Après tout ça nous aurons passés une bonne journée, soirée, nuit!!

Jimena, Thank you; I am glad that everyone is being so cooperative about the renting of vehicles. And about the house; unfortunately the store has been closed so you can no longer go inside for a tour. However, that is good news as well because the rumour is that Celine and Rene purchased it so one day it can be turned into a Celine Dion museum. Oh yes, baby! I will be the first in line when it opens!!!

Ok, well...maybe Vero will be; she lives there after all!

Ok, a quick update for you!

 

 

So, between this thread, PMs, and Facebook, I so far have approximately 36 people for lunch at Nickel's. Some have already told me that they won't be coming to Charlemagne, but it is still really important that I get more responses as to who wants to come to Charlemagne. We need to figure out how to get everyone there. We've got about 4 cars offered so far from me (my mom's car, hee), Tam, Andray, and Karola. There seems to be approx 11 seats available between all of them not including those 4 drivers. I have a volunteer driver now for one of the rentals and will need 2 more drivers because we will probably have to rent 3 minivans (21 seats). You can drive one if you are 21 or over; US citizens or Intl. drivers are ok too as long as you have your license with you, and any other necessary credentials. So please speak up. We will also need people willing to put their credit cards down to secure them ASAP. I will find out if I can secure them all with one card, but anyone else willing would put my mind more at ease.

 

Now, I did my research yesterday and found Enterprise at 1005, rue Guy in downtown Montreal for mini-van/car rentals; it is very easy to find so most likely this will also be our meeting place. Extra note: for the rental drivers you need to be willing to meet earlier (9:30 am), so all paperwork can get done and ready for our 10am Start. For a 7-passenger mini-van the cost would be either $69.98 or $81.27 (extra $10 charged b/f taxes if driver between 21 to 25). It breaks down to $10. or $11.61 each for the rentals; very reasonable! The tank usually comes full and that should take us to Charlemagne and back no problem. If you want to keep a rental longer, you would have to do this on your own and then just let us know how many people you can bring with you to Charlemagne.

If really needed, I can also drive, I have my license for more than 8 years now and I'm certified to drive from the smallest car to the biggest truck and trailer. Only with a passenger bus (+9 persons) I'm not certified to drive with. With the credit card I can not help you unfortunately since I don't use credit cards, only debit cards (actually I do use them also only to get money out of an ATM ) and a lot of cash

 

So if you can't find a driver count me in...

 

Edit: Just saw this isn't possible since the driver has to have a credit card with him. Sorry...

Thank you for the offer just the same Stijn; very sweet of you.

 

So, I was able to book the 3 mini-vans without a credit card, however we still need 2 more drivers who will have major credit cards with them in Montreal. Please speak up soon! I got a quote with Insurance included and so now the price is $112.14 for each van (that's still only $16.02 for each of the 7 passengers). We can keep the vans until the next day, so therefore still use them to get everyone around to the other outings that day. It is very likely that it will be quite cold in Montreal in February, so having a warm vehicle to get around in will be nice.

 

Ok, our numbers are growing. This is AWESOME!
