Black Kitten Posted April 19, 2010 at 09:05 AM Posted April 19, 2010 at 09:05 AM ^ hate the hair too. it made her look old. but i gotta agree the dress looks awesome on her. here's her Change performance. TAYLOR SWIFT- CHANGE HD (ACMS LIVE) i think she has totally redeemed herself after the infamous Grammy performance. i couldn't believe she can actually hit some high notes and held it for like 10 seconds! well not on Celine's level vocally, but pretty impressive. whineupemily Posted April 19, 2010 at 07:54 PM Posted April 19, 2010 at 07:54 PM Haha obviously not on Celine's level! But that last note, was impressive! Especially against some of her other live performances. Quote
AllCeline Posted April 19, 2010 at 09:06 PM Posted April 19, 2010 at 09:06 PM (edited) I guess she's getting "better" with her notes but it just doesn't feel like Taylor anymore. It sounds like the she's trying to pollish her voice but I really liked the cracks and whatnot once in a while. Does that sound bad? Not to sound crass, but her "imperfections" are what separated her ACTUAL voice, from the polished studio voice we hear on the albums. I am definitely glad she's working on her vocals. That way, I can kind of appreciate her songs on the studio albums, knowing more of it is her hitting the actual notes!! And also, as an artist, she should be able to hit any kind of note anyway!! Does that sound bad? point taken. but as a "singer", she really needs to improve her vocals. i'm glad her improvement is more obvious now more than ever. you can tell she did that long note on purpose. at least she's fearless (excuse the pun) enough to showcase her vocal flaws and didn't opt to lip-sync her songs. you gotta give her credits for that. she writes her own song, she produces her own material, AND she never relied on high profile artists. she just does her own thing and that makes up for her vocal shortcomings. not to mention she remains very sincere and nice. Edited May 6, 2010 at 07:12 AM by celineangel7 Quote * December 18, 2008. 1st time ever in front row for a concert and it was with my idol Celine! Dream #1 accomplished. While singing a ballad the only time Celine looked at me was the time I had my sign up luckily! She stretched out her arm palm faced up while singing with even more emotion in her eyes when she saw it, so it seemed like it was just for me at that moment.Dream #2 accomplished with the extra bonus! She came and left on my side. I went out 1 row, held up my sign and she stopped, held it herself, and just looked at it with an awe expression on her face, stunned and amazed when she saw all the glitter! She looked me in the eyes with those beautiful brown eyes of hers she was tuned into me at that moment and didn't look away, again her looking so emotional as I said with a sincere look on my face to her "It took me 5 hours to make this." (could have been more not sure)She looked down and away very touched like maybe she wanted to cry then she HUGGED me!!!She held me for more than just a moment She really took her time! I said to her while about to cry from the hug, "I love you so much!" Then that was it I don't think she said a word to me. I was crying and saying omg all night with my heart racing and my mind in SHOCK from the unexpected hug and my eyes so sore from crying. I was ready to drop when I got home, but was so emotional I stayed up until 6:30 a.m.! Cried a little for a few days after. Sign and front row seat saved the day!Dream #3 accomplished... Black Kitten Posted May 9, 2010 at 12:16 AM Posted May 9, 2010 at 12:16 AM some amazing concert reviews from her most recent shows: 10-yr-old chemo patient sees Taylor Swift from the front row http://www.kare11.com/assetpool/images/100128020205_taylorswiftgrammy2newwidget.jpg ST. PAUL, Minn. -- By Janel Klein Taylor Swift's songs of chasing boys and chasing dreams could also include a song about chasing tickets to her shows. "Her voice is amazing and everything!" said 10-year-old Hailey Bellflower of Inver Grove Heights. Thousands of Swift's fans jammed websites and phone lines, buying every one of the tickets for Friday's sold out St. Paul concert. So when Hailey and her 9-year-old sister McKenzie asked their mom, Lisa, for seats to tonight's show, Lisa knew it was a chase that could be tough. "When I saw the line I thought I stood no chance of getting tickets," said Lisa, who came to the XCel Energy Center ticket window last October. But Swift held back some seats for a special ticket lottery, and when Lisa drew her number, she was fourth in line. "I couldn't believe it!" Lisa said. "I said, 'I think this is karma!'" said ticket agent Shellae Mueller, who was at Lisa's window. "I said, 'It's the front row!'" Seats in the first row to celebrate the last day of Hailey's two years of chemotherapy. "It's fate," Lisa said. "It's fate." "Mom said she was going to get tickets," Hailey said, "But I didn't know they'd be in the front row!" Hailey is in remission and says she feels better than ever. Lisa says she can't believe their luck, and in addition to buying concert tickets, she's now buying lottery tickets as well. ============================================ Country music megastar Taylor Swift pulls off a prank-free rerun with pizzazz in St. Paul Since Taylor Swift closed the first leg of her Fearless Tour in October at Target Center, she has won five Country Music Association Awards (including entertainer of the year), turned 20, grabbed four Grammys (including album of the year), made her dramatic film debut, toured Europe, Australia and Japan, wrote enough songs for her forthcoming third album, signed on as a Covergirl cosmetics model and found her name this week on Time magazine's 100 most influential people in the world. Click for video:http://www.startribune.com/entertainment/m...UnOiP3UiacyKUUr No wonder she didn't have time to rework her Fearless Tour show. Click for photos:http://www.startribune.com/entertainment/m...UnOiP3UiacyKUUr On Friday at the sold-out Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Swift gave pretty much the same hair-tossing, outfit-changing, smile-inducing spectacular as last fall -- with a few exceptions. There were no end-of-the-tour pranks with her opening acts (Gloriana and Kellie Pickler), but there was one new song ("Today Was a Fairytale") and more scrutiny of her singing. When she performed on the Grammys in January (and won best female country vocal performance), there were many unflattering comments about her singing: "strikingly bad" (Los Angeles Times), "incredibly wretched" (Washington Post) and "off key ... vocally challenged" (me). On Friday, the country pop superstar erased the questions raised by the Grammys and other dubious awards-show performances. While she may not be the most soulful, subtle or nuanced singer in Nashville, she was more controlled and less shrill than in the past -- and more in the mellifluous range of her recordings. Most important, she connected with her crowd of tween girls and teen and 20-something women (and their boyfriends). In fact, Swift connects with her fans more effectively than any country star since Garth Brooks. She did it Friday with her everygirl songs about teenage dreams and frustrations; her electric smile that matched the gleefulness of her eyes; her reaching out and touching her fans with hugs, kisses and handshakes (she twice walked through the crowd and even slipped her bracelets onto the arms of girls). In a word, it's her relate-ability. Even though she's uttering the same patter as she did in October, Swift seems so sincere. (Part Pink and part Brad Paisley, she is a good actress, whether playing the flirty vamp, the geeky-and-glam Nash-Vegas rock star or the aw-shucks Grand Ole Opry girl next door.) And she works hard. In two hours, Swift played 16 songs with the help of six dancers, seven musicians, eight outfit changes and endless big-screen closeups of her big red lips and big, blue, glitter-covered eyes. She is very self-aware (sometimes too much so, such as when she basked extra, extra long in the adulation of 16,000 fans -- at least three times) but undeniably empowering. No wonder she has received so much recognition from the Country Music Association, the Grammys and Time magazine -- as well as her fans. Jon Bream • 612-673-1719 ============================================ Taylor Swift still fresh in performance Friday at Xcel When Britney Spears was at the point in her career that country queen Taylor Swift finds herself at now, Spears was moaning "I'm a Slave 4 U" and, quite possibly, dating sleazeball Fred Durst. Christina Aguilera was slathering her body in motor oil for "Dirrty," a video described at the time as "a post-apocalyptic unicorns." Meanwhile, Swift's current peer, 17-year-old Miley Cyrus, is in such a hurry to escape from her Disney-sponsored roots she's taken to dressing like a switchblade-wielding hooker. CLICK FOR PHOTOS Swift, who performed for a sold-out crowd of 16,000 Friday night at the Xcel Energy Center, just donated a cool half-million to help flood victims in her adopted hometown of Nashville. She also revealed the inspiration for her third album, due out at the end of the year. As she told MTV: "What do you think? Boys and love." Boys and love. How refreshing that a 21st century pop-culture icon can tackle such universal teenage topics without resorting to vulgarity or condescension. Not to suggest she's a prude because she's not. Swift doesn't preach and she doesn't judge. Her youthful, largely female audience can relate to her because Swift is one of their own. Well, now that she's 20, Swift isn't quite a teen anymore, but her two multiplatinum albums are filled with songs she wrote when she still was. Songs about boys and love and, most importantly, not letting the boys she might love walk all over her. She sang 16 of them Friday night, from her now-classic "You Belong With Me" to her very first hit, 2006's "Tim McGraw," a song she wrote in math class while wondering what would happen when her boyfriend of the time moved away to college. Beyond some minor tweaking near the end of the show, Friday's performance was essentially the same one Swift delivered seven months ago when she filled the Target Center. Still, she showed little of the fatigue that can come with such repetition and maintained the same wide-eyed sense of wonder that could easily feel fake in a less caring performer. If anything, all that time on the road has given Swift even greater confidence and poise. She's still not the strongest vocalist, but she seems to have figured out how to work with the voice she's been given, knowledge one hopes she remembers the next time she sings live on an awards show. Of course, Swift can't croon about boys in the lunchroom forever, but for now, it's just fine. Perfect, even. Quote

Black Kitten Posted May 16, 2010 at 12:31 AM Posted May 16, 2010 at 12:31 AM Concert Review: Friday, May 14 at Nassau Coliseum, NYC On Friday, May 14, 2010, country music sensation Taylor Swift performed at Nassau Coliseum, Long Island, as part of her headlining Fearless tour. Other acts associated with this concert, included country music band Gloriana and former American Idol finalist, country singer Kellie Pickler. Country band Gloriana, the top-selling new artist of 2009, opened Taylor Swift's Fearless tour. They performed "How Far Do You Wanna Go," "You Said," "Wild At Heart," as well as their current single "The World Is Ours Tonight." The only cover song in their setlist was a rendition of the Fleetwood Mac classic "Go Your Own Way." After Gloriana, country singer Kellie Pickler took the Nassau Coliseum stage. Pickler opened her setlist with her uptempo "Best Days of Your Life," and immediately went into "Things That Never Cross a Mans Mind," while thanking the Long Island audience "so much for coming tonight." She got the crowd to throw their hands up in the air on "Rocks Instead of Rice," and stated how proud she is of the song "Dont You Know You're Beautiful," where the screens were used to display a slideshow depicting scenes of the songs powerful message, and ended with photos of Ms. Pickler paying homage to our troops overseas. Pickler then introduced her current single "Making Me Fall in Love Again," and showcased her vocal range on "Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You." Pickler went on to sing yet another fun, uptempo song "Dont You Know Youre Beautiful," which was perhaps the most "feel good" song of the night. Prior to finishing her set, she performed an emotional and stirring rendition of "I Wonder," Kellie Picklers autobiographical song, which tugged at the audiences heartstrings, moving many of them to tears, and the audiences warm response to the song almost got Pickler teary-eyed as well. Pickler concluded her set list with her sassy debut single "Red High Heels." Taylor Swift's Set List: After the performances of opening acts Kellie Pickler and Gloriana, Taylor Swift went on to perform, whose two hour setlist stole the show. Swift opened up the show with her biggest hit "You Belong With Me," in a production that featured a school background setting, backup dancers and several outfit changes from Swift. Swift immediately went on to perform "Our Song," which is Swift's most successful single to date, spending a remarkable six weeks on the top of the country charts, a milestone she shares with Faith Hills "Breathe" and country music queen Kitty Wells "It Wasnt God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels." Following "Our Song," Swift addressed the Long Island audience and stated that "she was happy to see her friends in New York again," and feels very blessed and grateful for selling out a major arena in New York. Swift added that she "loves New York as much as she loves sparkly dresses," and further jokes "as much as burning the pictures of my ex-boyfriends." On "Teardrops on my Guitar," Swift tells the story of Drew, a boy in her class whom she had a crush on, however, she remarks that "he didnt even know she existed," and when he would talk to her, he would discuss his girlfriend with Swift. Swift performed this radio friendly, crossover pop hit as a skit, which featured a classroom setting and a bookcase background. Prior to singing "Forever and Always," a humorous skit introduced the song where Swift was being interviewed by a reporter, and was asked "if are naming the guys youve dated in your songs, why do you think any guys going to want to date you?" Swift was bold in her answer and responded that "if guys dont want me to write bad songs about them, they shouldnt do bad things." When she introduced the title track to her latest album "Fearless," she remarked that "it's a song about love, which may be a complicated thing, but every once in a while two people get it right, while others daydream about it." On "Fifteen," Swift discussed that it is a crucial age since its an age where people can get their hearts broken, and an age of self discovery. Swift shared that at that age, she was able to prove a guitar instructor wrong since he informed her that "she would not be able to play a twelve string guitar," since it has twice as many strings as a six string, and her hands are not large enough. Moments like such, were able to help define Swift and mold her into the star she is today. She delivered a tender, acoustic version of "Fifteen" with a minimal drum accompaniment. Other songs that had a similar message to "Teardrops on my Guitar," included her performances of "Hey Stephen" and "Tim McGraw" respectively. On "Hey Stephen," Swift was performing this tune at a different part of the arena, in the midst of the crowd and was gracious enough to hug as many fans in the audience as she could. At the point in the show, she introduced her multi-talented band members. On her acoustic performance of "Tim McGraw," she encouraged the audience to throw their glowsticks, hands and cell phones in the air. She remarked that this song is special to her since "it was the first song that you guys ever heard from me." The audiences response to this tune was loud and overwhelming, bringing Swift to tears after a five minute long standing ovation, which left Swift in total awe. After "Tim McGraw," Swift performed an acoustic version of her Grammy-award winning song "White Horse." As a child, Swift remarked that she "used to like fairytales" and felt that "all love is a fairytale." Presently, however, she feels that there are two categories in life: "fairytales" and "just another lesson in life." The message behind "White Horse" would fall in the latter category. The highlight performance of Swift's setlist was her mellifluous rendition of "Love Story," which featured a castle background, violinists, dancers in elegant clothing, which was reminiscent of scenes from Jane Austen's novel "Pride and Prejudice". Particularly impressive about this powerhouse performance was her ability to change outfits rapidly, after the songs bridge, where she transforms into a modern day Beauty –in a stunning white dress- ready to find her Prince Charming. Noteworthy about her performance of "The Way I Loved You" was her New York skyline background setting, and accompanying herself on piano, she performed a medley of the songs "Youre Not Sorry," and a cover of the Justin Timberlake pop hit "What Goes Around Comes Around." Her closing song was her fiery rendition of "Picture to Burn." For her encore performances, of her close-to-two hour setlist, Swift returned for an acoustic rendition of "Today Was A Fairytale," the theme song of the film Valentines Day. She concluded with the uptempo "Should've Said No," which was clearly a crowd favorite of the night. In summation, Taylor Swift is a star who was truly born to entertain. She is a multi-talented artist who is a skilled vocalist, songwriter, guitar player and pianist. Her superb ability to connect with the fans in the audience, as well as the stunning theatrical presentation of her major headlining tour, Fearless, is proof that she was the rightful recipient of the coveted Country Music Association (CMA) Award for Entertainer of the Year. Particularly impressive about all the graphics, sets, visuals and backgrounds of tonights production was that they were designed by Swift herself. In addition to her talent, her humble, grateful and bubbly personality made the Long Island audience inevitably love her in return. Lixin "Cindy" Zhang, a concert goer and fan of Taylor Swift, remarked that "Taylor put on a really great show at Nassau Coliseum, the way she moved around was great, and she sends out a message that she really cares about her fans, and appreciates everybody who came to see her tonight." Black Kitten Posted May 31, 2010 at 11:06 AM Posted May 31, 2010 at 11:06 AM Taylor Swift performs her first-ever headlining stadiumconcert at LSU May 29, 2010 As unlikely as it seems, Taylor Swift had never headlined a concert at a football stadium until tonight, when she performed a LSU’s Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The twenty year old country pop singer has been a sales chart phenomenon over the past couple of years but had previously been limited to arenas. Tiger Stadium has an official football game capacity of 92,400 people; that number could be higher could be higher or lower for a concert depending on field capacity and the number of obstructed view seats not made available. For her part, Swift remarked that before the show, she and her bandmates “could be found taking pictures on the stage like tourists.” She went on to sum it up with “It was just.. Wow.” Taylor Swift is in the midst of an extended U.S. tour which will next see her in Washington, DC on June 1st and 2nd for a pair shows at the Verizon Center (perhaps ironic, as Swift herself is known to be an iPhone user and therefore AT&T customer), ahead of another stadium show in Foxboro, Massachusetts at Gilette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots. She’s also doing a charity gig in her hometown Nashville, Tennessee, on June 22nd in aid of flooding victims, a cause to which she’s already donated half a million dollars. About 60 girls and young women gathered at a metal barrier near the backstage area in the parking lot, bonding with each other and hoping for a glimpse of a star. “We saw Taylor come out,” gushed Tess Greenberg, 15, of Beverly. “She kind of waved to us.” Jonathan Carey - a Swift dancer who’s worked with Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry - came out from behind the barrier and posed for photos with some of the girls. “This is like nothing I’ve ever seen before,” he said. “It’s nice to have someone to relate to,” said Jennifer Blagg, 20, of Lenox. “She’s the same age as I am and writes about things I can relate to. When people aren’t there for you, you always have her music.” “Taylor is very happy all the time and very real to her fans,” said Ali Carreiro, 14, of Swampscott. “She’s like an idol.” The crowd of 55,000 was roughly 80 percent female. Out in the parking lots, nearly every girl claimed to be Swift’s “biggest fan.” “All the songs relate to my life,” said Candace Cross, 18, of Beverly. “She makes you feel like she’s a normal person just like us. This is the best day of my life, and it hasn’t even started. Today is a fairy tale.” Bieber had his fans, too. “I want my future boyfriend to have the same hair as him,” said Meghan Christensen, 22, of Danbury, Conn. “I’m here for Taylor, but I love Justin,” added her sister, Amanda, 19. “He’s cute,” said Gabrielle Fluet, 12, of Leominster. “I like his music, but he’s got a big ego,” said Carreiro. John Maguire, 47, is a dad from Needham who brought 10 girls and two boys down in two vans. He’s been doing this for 10 years and previously brought the kids to see Cyrus, Hilary Duff and Ashlee Simpson. He was hosting a nonalcoholic preshow tailgate party. “It’s a blast,” Maguire said. “It’s more fun than playing golf with the guys. Taylor’s talented, plays her own instrument, writes great lyrics and never crosses the line. She’s the all-American girl.” “She’s flawless, and she sends a good message,” added his daughter, Kelley, who was celebrating her 13th birthday. Rylan McAdam, 18, had come down from Maine on a bus with 40 other Swift fans. He was one of the few young males in the lot. “Her songs are pretty inspirational,” he said. “How her success has happened, almost overnight, it feels good to be part of it. It’s nice to see someone not going to rehab all the time. She’s no Lindsay Lohan.” Said his 19-year-old friend, Ashley Grant: “Her songs are wicked relatable.” http://multimedia.heraldinteractive.com/images/20100605/b85a54_Fans_06062010.jpgPhoto by Faith Ninivaggi BIG DAY AT GILLETTE: Taylor Swift fans celebrating a birthday party at the stadium concert include, left to right, Kailey Wasserman, Claire Anderson, Leah Maguire, Kelley Maguire and Cassie Wade, all of Needham. =========== REVIEW By Jim SullivanSunday, June 6, 2010 If you were a lucky ticket-holding teen or tween girl, a big slice of heaven descended upon you last night at Gillette Stadium. (The threatened tornado, fortunately, did not.) Justin Bieber, the hot new pop sensation making tween girls swoon, opened for country/pop darling Taylor Swift, who dazzled the crowd for two hours. This was the final show of Swift’s 15-month, 110-date tour. A sold-out audience of 56,858 roared like a jetliner on takeoff when Swift, dressed in white as a drum majorette, hit the stage at 8:45 and launched into her big hit “You Belong With Me" Before the song was over, she was in a short silver dress and running around with a matching acoustic guitar, one of at least eight costume changes. “I have fallen completely in love with you after only two songs,” she said, after “Our Song.” “I love you like I love sparkly dresses.” “I love you like I love burning my ex-boyfriend’s pictures.” Later, there was a “Crimes of Passion” video segment, depicting “victims” of Swift’s songs. Teen heartbreak and subsequent revenge are favorite themes. She closed the regular set with “Picture to Burn,” with flames on the giant video screens. Swift, 20, is, nominally, a country artist. There were a fiddle and banjo here and there and she did a four-song midset acoustic segment (she started from a ministage in the mezzanine and hugged numerous fans upon exiting) - but, really, this is all about arena pop. A Madonna-like spectacle, just not quite as racy. Swift is a superstar, but projected a between-song awe, expressing amazement at the overwhelming applause. She acted out skits, danced with a partner during “Teardrops on My Guitar,” tossed a chair during the kiss-off rocker “Forever and Always,” and used six formally dressed dancers for the wistful, but soaring, “Love Story.” Over the top? At times. But Swift has sizzle and substance. Her songs sport a boatload of hooks, and she’s got panache. During the encore, “Jump Then Fall,” heart-shaped confetti was shot from the stage. A lovefest. Then she closed with “Should Have Said No,” about a guy who cheated on her. PHOTO GALLERY: http://www.bostonherald.com/galleries/inde...gallery_id=3909 Bieber, like the young Justin Timberlake, offered himself as an approachable tween dream, mixing pop, hip-hop and r & b. He spent most of his half-hour on the catwalk in front of the stage, and brought one joy-stunned girl up for “One Less Lonely Girl.” The apple-cheeked Bieber, 16, co-writes most of his music, and it’s both formulaic and catchy. The closer was the soaring “Baby.” Bieber did a medley of Michael Jackson’s “Gotta Be Starting Something” and Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way.” He took a break from the mic to close it with a big walloping turn at the drums. A very lucky fan took one of those sticks home. Gloriana and Kellie Pickler opened with sunshine-y people-pleasing sets of hard rock-country pop. =========== Bieber serenades but Swift earned the adulation Swift gets emotionally charged at Gillette. http://cache.boston.com/bonzai-fba/Third_Party_Photo/2010/06/06/07Swift__1275845580_0062.jpgBoston Globe) Country and pop singer/songwriter Taylor Swift performed before 55,000 fans at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., Saturday, June 6, 2010 as part of her Fearless 2010 Tour. By James Reed Globe Staff / June 7, 2010 FOXBOROUGH — On at least three occasions Taylor Swift looked like she might start crying. With her mouth agape and her eyes misty, Swift stood stock-still to survey the sight and sound of more than 56,000 people roaring her name at Gillette Stadium Saturday night. Boy wonder Justin Bieber, one of three opening acts, got a similar reaction, but Swift earned the adulation during her two-hour set that dragged only when its star mingled among the masses in the far reaches of Gillette. Taylor in the wings dancing to Bieber song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbDuN7gp958...layer_embedded#! For someone who has already picked up every award a 20-year-old performer could imagine, Swift remains in awe of her fame. That’s strange considering her seasoned and confident performance Saturday, starting with a marching-band theme for the opener, “You Belong With Me.’’ Gillette was the final stop on the juggernaut Fearless tour, which Swift said had included 15 months and 110 performances on three continents. If Swift was ready to retire the show, you wouldn’t have guessed it from how hard she worked to put across the songs, which skewed more Top 40 pop than commercial country. Swift has had some pitch problems in the past, but she was mostly in fine voice, particularly on “Love Story,’’ her take on a Romeo-and-Juliet romance complete with castles. She lost her way momentarily on “Forever and Always,’’ receding into the song more than commandeering it. When she wasn’t acting out the songs with skits, Swift could really burrow into them. For “Fifteen,’’ a tender paean to adolescent heartache, she performed with just an acoustic guitar on a makeshift stage in the middle of the Gillette field. The effect was magical: It was as simple and direct as the song’s heroine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUICeEsOy80 Swift has built a sturdy career on that brand of heart-on-sleeve emotion, and it’s kept her fans in thrall. The mutual was mutual, too. “I love you like I love burning my ex-boyfriend’s pictures,’’ Swift said just before “Tell Me Why.’’ And she also knew how to play to a hometown crowd, emerging in a Patriots jersey during “Today Was a Fairytale.’’ Bieber, the 16-year-old pop star said to inflict a fever on his fans, also had the crowd in his pocket. Yet it was harder to foresee a long and fruitful career for him on par with Swift’s trajectory. At 16, he’s got the hooks and the hair, but without studio sorcery his voice was thin and small, sometimes inaudible over teen screams. His seven-song set was as short and sweet as he was, ticking off his hits (“Baby,’’ “Somebody to Love’’) and future ones (“U Smile’’). He did score some points for momentarily taking over the drum kit for some primitive pounding, and his medley of Michael Jackson’s “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ ’’ and Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way’’ was a fitting tribute to Boston. For “One Less Lonely Girl,’’ Bieber serenaded onstage a starstruck fan wearing a T-shirt with his likeness. The scene was a bit of foreshadowing: Another young woman on the verge of tears. =========== Swift's sincerity, enthusiasm strike a chord with her fansSunday, June 6, 2010By Craig S. Semon FOXBORO — Fairy tales do come true and they consist of eight costume changes, an enchanted castle, a manmade rainstorm, a hit catalog and a cavalcade of screaming, mostly preteen fans. If there was any lingering doubt, 20-year-old Taylor Swift rules all she surveys and we are her willing playthings, as evident from her sold-out performance last night at Gillette Stadium. At “the very last show of the Fearless Tour,” a tour that has run for 15 months, consisted of 110 shows and played on three continents, Swift, the youngest artist to win the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year Award, took 55,000 people on a two-hour, whirlwind excursion of her daydreams and diary entries-turned-hit parade. The human embodiment of Alfred Lord Tennyson sentiment “'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all,” Swift sings lovelorn tales of first kisses, secret crushes, romantic breakups and unrequited advances with so much sincerity and enthusiasm that it's hard for those who are young and young at heart not to connect with her. Despite her lousy track record with men (as chronicled in her songs and later made fun of in a video shown at the concert called “Crimes of Passion”), Swift is an idealistic, doe-eyed, curly-haired blonde who believes in Prince Charming and happily ever after. Dressed like a high school majorette, the multi-platinum, country-pop phenom embarked onto a virtual high school musical, complete with gym lockers, dancing cheerleaders and high school clicks on the opening number/massive sing-along, “You Belong to Me.” Swift, who has confidence in her material and an infectious stage presence (and rightfully so), started the evening with arguably her biggest hit when most seasoned (and insecure) pop stars would make the crowd unmercifully wait for the encore. Her rip-away marching band get-up revealed a sparkling, silver dress (the first of many sparkly dresses) and knee-high leather black boots and the fact that she in no longer a high school geek anymore.A hip-swiveling Swift donned a sparkly silver guitar that matched her sparkly silver outfit for “Our Song,” which became another massive sing-along. At the end of “Our Song,” Swift took a moment that added up to minutes to bask in the show of admiration from the crowd. Looking overwhelmed, she mouthed, “Oh my God” and later in the evening, looked as though she were on the verge of tears.“ I have never in my life seen anything like this,” Swift said. “I have completely fallen in love with you after only two songs.” She also told the crowd she loves them as much as she loves “sparkly dresses” and burning her ex-boyfriend's picture, which made the crowd scream even louder. The stage was transformed into a virtual high school study hall complete with one of her adolescent crushes sitting at a desk for “Teardrops on My Guitar.” She pondered how love seems to be “this huge complicated thing” and daydreamed about finding “that one great love” as a preamble to “Fearless,” which had her spinning around like a top while she cathartically strummed her acoustic guitar. Donning a sexy red dress and showing her drama queen tendency, Swift had a hissy fit (which including throwing furniture around during a mock interview) in her tell-all kiss-off to heartbreaker Joe Jonas on “Forever & Always.” Swift popped up in the upper first balcony at the 50-yard line (in a skimpy, shiny blue dress) and sang the not-so-secret secret crush serenade “Hey Stephen,” which ended in a massive hug fest (and a security guard's nightmare) as she walked down the aisle. Always scaling new heights as a performer, Swift made her way to the roof of the sound stage to confess her biggest high school fear and dream (not fitting in, being asked to the prom by a senior, respectively) and to pour her heart out on “Fifteen.” Back on the main stage, Swift, wearing a red Victorian dress, proved she is the champion of happy endings, changing the outcome of Shakespeare's tale of star-crossed lovers “Romeo and Juliet” with a happy ending no less on “Love Story.”Now wearing a purple sparkly dress, Swift sang about having a wild (but not too wild) side and a secret attraction to bad (but not too bad) boys on “The Way I Loved You” and flailed back and forth while pounding the keys of a baby grand piano on “You're Not Sorry,” which included a snippet of Justin Timberlake's “What Goes Around Comes Around.” With the help of virtual fire, Swift scorched the stage with the set closer, “Picture to Burn.” With a tailored-made Patriots shirt with the Number 13 (Swift's lucky number and the number of Top 40 hits spawned off her sophomore release “Fearless”), Swift performed a three-song encore, which included “Today Was a Fairy Tale” (accented with Swift-teen wolf Taylor Lautner clips from “Valentine's Day” and cannons shooting heart-shaped red and white confetti) and “Jump and Fall” (in which she wore a skimpy black party dress and matching electric guitar). There was a threat of rain all night and it finally came in the form of showstopper, “Should've Said No.” She belted out the tune and got drenched in a waterfall, which scrolled the word “No” in the drops. Ah, the wonders of modern science. Forget about the Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync and 98 Degrees, 16-year-old, teen-dream sensation (and the show's last minute add-on) Justin Bieber is a one-man boy band equipped with the hippest pop grooves and hippest dance moves around. And forget it if you're over 15, you won't understand Bieber's appeal. With his Peter Noone-meets-Adam Rich hairdo and toothy grin that rivals the Cheshire Cat, Bieber delivered his innocuous bubblegum pop, which was answered with high-decibel screams from the mostly underage crowd. Wearing a black cargo vest with a white T-shirt, white trousers and white sneakers, the squeaky-clean Bieber, who looks like he doesn't know which end of a razor to hold, effortlessly worked the preteen crowd into a lather. For “One Less Lonely Girl,” one lucky fan was plucked out of the audience and given the experience of a lifetime, having Bieber sing to her while all the envious young girls in the crowd wanted to be her. =========== Swift Razor Sharp & Bieber FeverSunday, June 6, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkqUGsKA8fU videos here REVIEW: Swift Razor sharp BY SUSAN McDONALD FOR THE SUN CHRONICLE FOXBORO - Swift and Bieber. Bieber and Swift. Although it was questionable who would win the popularity contest in Gillette Stadium Saturday night, country a nd pop's sweethearts paired for an electric show. The sold-out concert was a continuation of Swift's amazing year of "firsts." "Fearless" is her first headlining tour and the stop in Foxboro, the last on the 15-month tour, marked her first stadium concert as a headliner. In addition, she was the first female headliner ever at Gillette. Even with pop sensation Justin Bieber on board, the tenor of the evening was country, and Swift brought along country B-listers Gloriana and former "American Idol" finalist Kelly Pickler to warm up the crowd. This is the new generation, however, and one thing was evident: it ain't your momma's country music. Cowboy hats mixed with sequins as Swift demonstrated why she is not only country's new queen, but also one of the smoothest crossover artists on today's charts. "Fearless" - the name of Swift's sophomore album which topped the Billboard 200 for 11 weeks earlier this year, something not achieved in years - seems the perfect adjective for this young girl-next-door type who appeals to all ages with her own stories of heartbreak and pain. She opened her two-hour set Saturday night clad in a drum major's uniform and surrounded by dancers in cheerleader costumes, with the ultimate in teen confessionals - "You Belong To Me" - which sent a ripple of energy through the audience. Mid-song, she peeled down to a silver sequined dress, grabbing a glittery guitar to further energize the fans. When the song ended, Swift allowed herself a few moments to gaze around the stadium, mouthing "Wow," seemingly in awe of the 56,858 fans spread out at her feet before launching into "Our Song," her first No. 1 hit. This sweetness endeared her to the crowd throughout the night, including one moment when she was moved to tears by the audience's adoration. With a multi-level stage and bank of multi-media screens that worked like a theatrical set, Swift moved effortlessly through numbers like "Teardrops" and "Forever and Always" to get to the most magical part of the night - her acoustic set. These were her most vulnerable and real moments as she sang "Fifteen" and "Tim McGraw," just the storyteller and her guitar. Because she is so talented, some moments were simply overkill. For example, the show used a series of hokey videos during costume changes, and while Swift moved to spots higher up in the stadium. Later, as the stage readied for "Love Story," dancers in Victorian costumes danced about the stage. More powerful were the simple moments with her singing at the piano, or backed by video screens of flames as she sang "Picture to Burn." After a 14-song show, Swift came back on clad in a New England Patriots jersey for a lively three-song encore that included "Today Was a Fairytale," complete with confetti machines pulsing around the floor of the stadium. Bieber Fever Before Swift, however, came Bieber Fever. The 16-year-old Canadian, who was discovered on YouTube last year and catapulted to teen-heartthrob status, hit the stage to the shrieks of legions of Biebettes, and was backed by a dance crew. Bieber was total eye and ear candy. Even though his sound was mostly tinny and screeching, the crowd didn't seem to notice. His smile and charisma captivated them, and moves like inviting a girl up on stage during "One Less Lonely Girl" made them roar. He spent 30 minutes rolling through his meager repertoire, giving lively, if strained, versions of "Somebody to Love," "One Time" and "Baby." When he slowed down with songs such as "U Smile," his voice seemed richer. A dance number featuring the moves of his crew and songs from Michael Jackson was fun. Gloriana blended classic rock sounds from Fleetwood Mac and others into their country tracks "The World is Ours Tonight" and their debut hit "Wild at Heart." Pickler, an "American Idol," was spunky and energetic, belting out her hits, from her debut song "Red High Heels" to "The Best Years of My Life" and to her newest release, "Making Me Fall in Love with You." and the Fearless era is officially over... Black Kitten Posted July 30, 2010 at 06:55 AM Posted July 30, 2010 at 06:55 AM KILT Gets Sneak Peek at New Taylor's Song! KILT is one of the first radio stations that got to hear Taylor's new single "Mine". According to the radio station, it's a catchy uptempo song and it shows Taylor's growth and maturity over the 2 years since she released Fearless. They also included a lyric of the new song which sounds very intriguing! Be sure to read the full article below. Reps for Taylor Swift are swarming the country to play the new Taylor Swift song, “Mine,” to radio stations. KILT was one of the first stations on the list and got to hear the song just moments ago. Radio won’t get a copy of the song until early August, but you can read our exclusive review after the jump. Taylor Swift’s new song, “Mine,” will be the first release from her upcoming new CD, Speak Now, which hits stores on 10/25. “Mine” is an uptempo song that’s unmistakably Taylor. It’s a boy/girl song, sort of like “Love Story,” but a much more realistic look at a relationship. It shows Taylor’s growth and maturity over the 2 years since she released Fearless, but still maintains Taylor’s ability to tell a story with an instantly memorable hook. In the song, Taylor is a girl who always avoided love and then finds herself in a great relationship. Here’s a line from the chorus: "You made a rebel of a careless man’s careful daughter / You are the best thing that’s ever been mine" “Mine” has a big chorus, and is very singable – like all great Taylor Swift songs. Keep it on KILT to hear it first and get all the details of the new CD and Taylor’s upcoming tour. Source: KILT Quote
