Black Kitten Posted October 24, 2008 at 12:51 AM Posted October 24, 2008 at 12:51 AM something for Luis: i was wrong when i said Janet Jackson is the only artist in history to score a #1 hit in 3 decades, but here's another fact. she is the only artist to score a #1 ALBUM in 3 decades. madonna never had a #1 album in the 90's, so it's JJ holding the record. 80's:ControlJanet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 90's:janet.The Velvet Rope 2000's:All For YouDiscipline about the topic, it's surprising that she only has 2 #1 song under her belt. her album sells, but most of her songs didn't even crack the top 10. SuperLove4Celine Posted October 24, 2008 at 01:02 AM Posted October 24, 2008 at 01:02 AM "Womanizer" was the perfect song for Britney to release from her upcoming album, Circus. It doesn't have any deep-meaning lyrics, but not every song has to have one. Also, not every artist was created to make deep-meaning music. I can think of a few songs that are amazing that aren't deep, but are great. A few are Corona's, "Rhythm Of The Night," Aqua's, "Barbie Girl," (say what you will, but it's still a fun dance track), Right Said Fred's, "I'm Too Sexy," etc. As for the album cover I think it's good. It's definately up to interpretation. The way I see it is that she's getting ready to throw open her overcoat to expose whatever underneath. Could it be bare skin? Maybe. Could it be a skanky outfit? Again, maybe. Perhaps it's a beautiful outfit. But yet again not every album has to have an amazing cover with supreme skills. - Joe Quote
Love, Posted October 24, 2008 at 06:31 AM Posted October 24, 2008 at 06:31 AM (edited) First off, I just can't stand her voice. I mean, for every artist out there - there are unique voices that are just worth hearing, worth paying for, and worth listening to. She makes Madonna sound like Barbara Streisand... I don't give a damn about the freaking "Britney Spears Concert Experience..." and her shakalaka-hands-side-to-side dance moves. Her dancing is definitely not all that. If you want to see dance, watch MTV's America's Best Dance Crew. And then there's... her. I'd rather not go there. Edited October 24, 2008 at 06:32 AM by Love, Quote

I'm happy she did make her comeback, after a disastrous 2007. I love all those songs you're listing, and I'd include Real McCoy's "Another Night" and Vengaboys "We Like To Party!" and "Boom Boom Boom Boom!!" Aqua's, "Barbie Girl," (say what you will, but it's still a fun dance track), Right Said Fred's, "I'm Too Sexy," etc. you can brush my hair, undress me everywhere... Manuel Quote

LuisMa Posted October 24, 2008 at 01:27 PM Posted October 24, 2008 at 01:27 PM I think some of that data is not really accurate, Dhena, as Tiffany spent sometime at number one in 1987 with her self-titled debut. She had just turned 17 years old then. It also says that Janet earned 5 of her #1 albums consecutively, but which ones?Control, Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814, janet., The Velvet Rope, All For You, Discipline "Design Of A Decade" and "Damita Jo" fall between them, so they would definitely break the record the statement is claiming. Manuel is correct with Barbra Streisand not having three, but four decades with a number one album. She hit number one in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. "Mariah Carey's self-titled debut album holds the record for the most Hot 100 #1 singles from a #1 album by a female artist." Janet also had 4 number one singles from her #1 album "Rhythm Nation 1814" Quote
LuisMa Posted October 24, 2008 at 01:32 PM Posted October 24, 2008 at 01:32 PM Moreover, Whitney Houston had four number one songs from her #1 album "Whitney." "I Wanna Dance With Somebody""Didn't We Almost Have It All""So Emotional""Where Do Broken Hearts Go" Paula Abdul also had four number one songs from her #1 album "Forever Your Girl." "Straight Up""Forever Your Girl""Cold Hearted""Opposites Attract" Quote

We have to exclude Design of a Decade 1986/1996 because it's a Greatest Hits album. (i guess they were talking about proper/studio albums only) Quote

(i guess they were talking about proper/studio albums only) I was thinking the same, but still it wouldn't make any sense because the album did manage to reach the Billboard 200's Top 10. So the "consecutive" doesn't really apply. That's why I was wondering whether they had missed "Damita Jo" and were contemplating the first five or the latter five.
