i don't know what the heck is happening in music right now. what's with this song? it's uber annoying! and it sounds like a rip off from Ooh Ooh Baby from Blackout. i love her, but this isn't deserving even an airplay!

BREAK THE ICE is one of her bests, and one of her most underrated songs to date.

The legacy of the current decade will be trashy hip-hop and RNB.

I love it and am glad to see her healthy and happy.

I've always been a fan. And I'm glad she's back on track.

All the blah comments mean nothing, she's laughing all the way to the bank.

I have always been a fan as well, but i sort of let her go , she got her body and her self back and im so happy for her, if her mom hadnt come back into her life; who knows what would have become of Britney

But i still remain to not be a big fan of her music; i got through with that when i was 6 .. :in_love:

No, it's not in Celine's personality to be a skank.

On a side note: Celine does have a $.5 million Maybach, which was the car in the video.

I said PERSONALITY, not photo opportunity.

Lara Fabian's cover is ART, with good reasons.

I told you guys it would go to #1... and not only did it go to #1, it broke a record for making the biggest leap to #1.

Britney Spears' new single, "Womanizer," has made a record-breaking leap to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, after debuting at #96 last week, the magazine reports. Surprisingly, the track is Spears' first #1 on the chart since her debut single, 1999's "... Baby One More Time."

I've seen the uncensored version of the music video. I'm quite convinced that Brit's leading man showed his backside. :P

This is what chart expert Fred Bronson has to say about Britney this week:

A HIT, ONE MORE TIME: For the second week in a row, the record for the biggest leap to No. 1 on The Billboard Hot 100 has been broken. Just seven days ago, I was writing about T.I. and Rihanna racing 80-1 with "Live Your Life," besting the 71-1 move of T.I.'s "Whatever You Like" six weeks earlier.

That new record set by "Live Your Life" only lasted one week, as Britney Spears' "Womanizer" (Jive) blasts 96-1, almost - but not quite - the biggest jump to pole position possible.

There are only four other positions on the chart from which an artist could make a greater bound to the top. Once a single does take the inevitable 100-1 ride, we can all be assured the record will never be broken again.

Looking at this week's Hot 100 might make you wonder if that 100-1 jump is going to happen next week. Debuting in the anchor slot is a new Beyonce single, "If I Were a Boy" (Music World/Columbia). But don't look for a new record to be set when you read the next edition of Chart Beat. "If I Were a Boy" is charting based on early airplay - that's the same way Spears' "Womanizer" entered at No. 96 last week. The difference is that a digital single of "If I Were a Boy" wasn't released this week, so there isn't going to be an injection of sales to fuel a big "Boy" move. Additional airplay will allow the Beyonce track to move up, and an eventual digital release could result in an impressive jump to first place, but not a record-setting move.

Since we have a new record-holder, here is an update of the list published last week, summarizing the dozen songs that have leapt to No. 1 from No. 31 or below:

96-1: "Womanizer," Britney Spears (Oct. 25, 2008)

80-1: "Live Your Life," T.I. featuring Rihanna (Oct. 18, 2008)

71-1: "Whatever You Like," T.I. (Sept. 6, 2008)

64-1: "Makes Me Wonder," Maroon 5 (Sept. 12, 2007)

53-1: "Take a Bow," Rihanna (May 24, 2008)

52-1: "A Moment Like This," Kelly Clarkson (Oct. 5, 2002)

51-1: "Love in This Club," Usher featuring Young Jeezy (March 15, 2008)

42-1: "Give It to Me," Timbaland featuring Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado (April 21, 2007)

41-1: "Umbrella," Rihanna featuring Jay-Z (June 9, 2007)

34-1: "SOS," Rihanna (May 13, 2006)

32-1: "This Is Why I'm Hot," Mims (March 10, 2007)

31-1: "SexyBack," Justin Timberlake (Sept. 9, 2006)

"Womanizer" puts Britney back in control of the Hot 100 for the first time in nine years and nine months, since her first chart entry, "...Baby One More Time" ruled the list. That's the longest gap between No. 1 songs since Cher's "Believe" moved into the penthouse 10 days shy of 25 years after "Dark Lady."

"Believe" began its reign in March 1999, just four weeks after "...Baby One More Time" ended its run at the top.

"Womanizer" is Spears' 18th chart entry and sixth top 10 hit. Two of her three biggest hits have occurred in the last 13 months. Here's how those half-dozen top 10 songs fared:

No. 1: "...Baby One More Time" (1999)

No. 1: "Womanizer" (2008)

No. 3: "Gimme More" (2007)

No. 9: "Ooops!...I Did It Again" (2000)

No. 9: "Toxic" (2004)

No. 10: "(You Drive Me) Crazy" (1999)

Finally, Spears is one of just a small group of artists who have spent time at No. 1 on the Hot 100 in the 20th and 21st centuries. The other members of this elite club are Janet Jackson, Christina Aguilera, Destiny's Child, Jennifer Lopez, P. Diddy, Jay-Z, Usher and Mariah Carey. Justin Timberlake and Krayzie Bone have No. 1s in this century as solo artists and in the last century as members of groups - 'N Sync and Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony, respectfully.

Dhena, I guess you are talking about decades, not centuries. :hmm:

Now, another person who you admire has also had number one hits in the 80s, 90s and 00s: Madonna, so Janet doesn't have the record all to herself:

1980s

Like A Virgin

Crazy For You

Live To Tell

Papa Don't Preach

Open Your Heart

Who's That Girl

Like A Prayer

1990s

Take A Bow

If Celine could have another #1 hit later, it would be even longer than Britney's. Hope it won't come as late as Cher's. :lmao:

bahahaha what's happening to me! when i first read ur post, i didn't notice that it's CENTURY u're talking about, not decades. i didnt realize that. my fault, sorry.

and about madonna, thanks for elaborating. i once saw Janet's article in Wikipedia, and it stated that she holds the record for having #1 songs in 3 decades. i counted Madonna's, and i forgot Music became a #1 hit in 2000.

so the only record Janet is still holding are having 7 Top 10 hits from 1 album, 4 of them became #1. and the only artist to have #1 in 3 separate calendar years (1989, 1990, 1991)

That's indeed very right! And as a Janet fan, you can brag about something even more impressive about the record you are mentioning! Those 7 top 10 hits not only reached the Top 10, but all of them went Top 5!! That's very impressive.

Too bad the 8th radio single, "State Of The World" never saw the light as a commercial single. Otherwise, the record would have been even more exciting.

The thing that baffles me is that the Guinness record for brother and sister to have reached number one in the UK belongs to Daniel and Natasha Bedingfield. Janet has yet to achieve a UK number one.

Ooooops we're going off topic. :lmao:

"Womanizer" will be released in the UK on Nov. 24.
