As much as 'we' the fans can get sick of My heart will go on, its the biggest song in pop music history folks! Or at least one of the biggest! Deleting that from a title that boasts "The essential collection" would be insane. Plus the target audience for this album is the fans of course, but also the fans that may not be brave enough to buy a risky new album like "Taking Chances" (My father being a prime example),but love most of celine's "Hits" and those who liked her stuff from early on until now. Thus having MHWGO is a necessity.

 

On ITUNES the most popular Celine Dion tunes downloaded are listed as: "Taking Chances, I drove all night, Because you loved me and Alone"---maybe "Alone" could be a strong selling factor for this collection as many like it and it's performed on the tour as well?

I really think that this will be a massive seller, it is only us on the forum that care what is released and how it is released.

 

I believe all the people who liked and bought the old stuff, will swarm to get this. Thats why All the Way is selling well now.

An "Essential Collection" will surely include "My Heart Will Go On" and other hit singles massively played out on radio in the past. If not the album would be titled “The Collector’s Series Vol. 2”.

 

I just hope it will include all the real essencial songs of Celine's English career!

I agree - All The Way is still really popular in the UK - they still have loads of the cds in music shops and stuff - I saw a lady buy a copy of ATW last week - i was very excited!!

 

I think that it will do well in the UK certainly, I couldnt say for the rest of the world.

Miracle had some promo in USA (Oprah, Regis & Kelly...); we don't know if the Greatest Hits will have promo, but if not it will sell around 50k like the Live In Las Vegas CD.

while i am so positive that this compilation will perform well in the US and worldwide, i guess we should not expect too much from this album. it's just a greatest hits album after all. i'd be very glad if it will enter at anywhere inside the top 10. in japan, i don't know what's gonna happen since Complete Best had its moment in the charts few months back.

I wouldn't leave out John Legend, too.

 

A Top 10 debut in the US would be more than enough for this album and if it reaches GOLD there by the end of the tour, it would be good considering that even 'popular and hip' artists like Mariah and Madonna with huge singles are struggling. As always, Sony would only send the single 'My Love' to AC radios and I don't expect anything from it. A Top10 showing there will make Sony happy

If there are two editions of a compilation, I think it will be like ONCP with the 2-cd, 1-cd, 2-cd + dvd releases. If it is like that, I wouldn't mind getting all the editions as long as I'm happy with the tracklist as I was with ONCP (which is very unlikely with an anglophone compilation)
