I agree, but with all the new artists selling so well, who will put up with what Rene demands for an artist who, in many's eyes, peaked after MHWGO? Rene is going to sabotage any deal put his way b/c of his control issues!! C'mon Rene!! Give up the reins!!!

But back on topic- Rene needs slapped!!! She needs an injection of freshness, of a team that don't know her, that want to create her and push her. Nevertheless, this album will sit nicely in our Collections of Collections, no doubt.

 

Good tracklist Chris- then another disc of new material and amazing live renditions/ hard to find gems

Thanks to Ethu (journalist) from the spanish forum we get some info for the upcoming album:

 

- Instead a reedition of Taking chances Sony has decided to release the GH.

 

- 18 tracks, 2 new tracks:Let Me Be Your Soldier"(Kara DioGuardi & Dave Stewart, John Shancks produced) or Your True Love or Will Never Go Away, maybe more for Itunes or China.

 

- This it's gonna be the last album of the agreement with Sony!!! What's is going to happen??... Everybody in this forum is praying in my opinion that Céline leaves Sony BMG for once, will know next year!

He also said according to sony TC sold 3.500.000 worldwide, good sales for them, so it will be very difficult for them to lose Celine..it seems like they will offer her a very appetizing new contract

I knew the extra can't be for China. We never get extra. I think Japanese version would be the one I get.

I like the cover a lot. I think they chose a great photo and hopefully they will include a lot more new pictures from this photo session in the insert.

 

I don't like the title. I think My Love, Greatest Hits was a lot more appropriate. 'Essential Collection' just sounds like a box set or another version of The Collector's Series.

i have the brazilian one, the pre order at itunes with "the reason i go on" bonus, the wallmart one with recording sessions, the bonus cd one, bonus dvd teaser vegas one...

5 versions...

 

i think i never bought so many versions of a cd ....

I think she should stay with Sony. They gave us an un-needed release within a year of her last album. We should appreciate what we can get. Though, I'm a bit biased because I intern there and see all they hard work they put into everything but it sucks to see everyone bashing them. They asked our opinion...listened to it as much as they probably could and they're putting out an album that will have great sales for Celine. I don't think we can count on her leaving them because she stuck with them this long in her career...her very successful career...why change now? They know her history, she knows how they work...it would be a big risk to change labels so late in her career. I'm sure Darren and the sony uk team have been working their butts off on this iand t's sad that no one can every be happy with what they can get.

no way! are u kidding? ok, i admit i agree with most of ur posts here, but never this one! according to IFPI, the album shipped 3.1M copies worldwide by the end of 2007, making it the 19th best-selling album worldwide that year, which was quite an achievement considering the fact that it has no hit single in it, and it was released less than 2 months before the year ended. i am so sick and tired of explaining my point over and over, but seeing how some fans claim that this album is a flop is getting a little out of hand. sure it ain't her biggest seller, but looking at Mariah's and Madonna's album's sales, calling TC a flop is just plain stupid. and it doesn't matter how many editions SonyBMG released. the point is, it is TAKING CHANCES that people are buying.

 

about My Love: Essential Collection, i am very positive that it will sell well worldwide. last year Whitney Houston released The Ultimate Collection, and it did relatively well without promotion and new song. knowing that celine is, in any angle, more sellable than Whitney, i'm pretty sure we'll not be disappointed.

I agree with the above statement! TC was not a flop. It was number 3 on billboard up against some very talented artists. CDs just don't sell anymore, so numbers like that these days, are very impressive.
