I would love to hear these songs.
Posted

So, someone posted the songs on YouTube and I find the last song to be the best for me than the other songs especially the song “Is this what i get for loving you”. Yes, her voice was amazing with the 1995 and 1996 mix on that song

But when i heard “Tonight I’ll see the morning with him” song. It was amazing. It’s so relaxing to listen to. I like the soft breathy voice and the harmonies of her vocals in this song. Is this an original song or a cover?

I like this to be release. Like now! Remaster it.

Ah so it’s a cover. I like the song. Céline’s version :)

I'm glad these songs weren't included on the album or officially released. Is This What I Get For Loving You is ok but the tempo is unnecessarily slow and the lyrics sound incomplete in certain parts of the song. The other two songs are strange and I just can't put my finger on it. Something about them leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

You’re not a fan of that genre lol i like songs that are relaxing to listen as well because we have a moment that needs songs like that for us to be relaxed and be calmed. :)

I’ll pick “Tonight I’ll See The Morning With Him”. Listening to this kinda reminds me of the simple times, the beatles (even though I wasn’t born in that era)

But these songs doesn’t fit in the Falling Into You album. They could release it as a single but not in the album.

I've been listening to the songs for a week now and I really like them. Is This What I Get for Loving You is my favorite, but the other two are also very good. True that they might not fit FIY album as we know it (well actually I think What Am I to Do could fit better than Your Light), but maybe the album would have taken a totally different direction if Phil Spector had produced the whole project, who knows. They’re all covers. Wildly different, but covers just the same.

I only know the first song. It’s from the Ronettes?

Actually, not everyone has the right to do whatever they want with the recordings. There were agreements met within the group, and there are legal ramifications involved based on the deal made with the seller. So, the person who either sent them to someone or leaked the tracks themselves are 100% in the wrong.

If it is legal, why is it so secret then?

Didn't Celine want those recordings to be buried? We have links to forbidden bootlegs and all in this forum. The only reason why you are all acting like that is because some of you, including some moderators of the forum paid for it. And now you're acting all lawful about things that were probably obtained illegally.

So she recorded a lot of songs from Phil… and imagine the amount of takes each songs she sang in that studio with Phil that can really lead to vocal damage. Maybe it’s one of the reason of the changes of her vocals from 1995-1996 Edited by jpatdeleon09

PREACH!!!

One the reasons we don't want it to leak is because there are more songs in the vault. Like the final version of "is this what I get". If the songs are leaked, the chance to get the rest of the other media is lost forever.

Oh well. Celine and Rene never wanted these recordings out there. They were illegally obtained because they are illegal recordings. This forum really likes to pick and choose when illegal activity is okay.

What is clear is how talented the guy was as a creator. They are all covers but so different from the originals and really well adapted for Celine style. I think he was aiming for something like Adele's 21, more soulful or old school. While Sony was probably aiming for something more pop and commercial. Just guessing :)

How can there be legal ramifications for illegal recordings obtained illegally?

It’s like your pot dealer coming over to deliver your weed and your dog bites them. What are they going to do, sue you? No. Because they were doing something illegal when they got bit. It would come out in the investigation that they’re a pot dealer.

I don't think the recordings are illegal, Phil Spector and Sony must have the rights. But probably the person selling them had no right to do so, so that was probably illegal yes. Or maybe that person inherited the rights after he died.

But Sony is late as usual, knowing the recordings would leak eventually after Phil's dead they should have released an EP or something.

There was a legal agreement signed by one of the organizers and the seller of the tape. The entire group knew this and still, someone decided to share the recordings on a larger scale than just the people who participated in the campaign. It was very well known what the terms of this sale was, and people are just too damned disrespectful and selfish to follow through with an agreement. It has nothing to do with the money spent.

A legal agreement for illegally obtained items will not hold up in court. No one can sue the person in your group who shared the songs because whoever did so would admit to committing a crime. The only way this would not be a crime is if the person selling them is the Spector estate, as it's my understanding that the estate owns the rights to the songs now that Phil Spector passed away.

The recordings were not obtained illegally. The seller legally bought the tapes in auction, the owner of the tapes was then allowed to sell his newly owned property. We legally bought a tape from the seller with a written and signed agreement. Someone broke that agreement, and that’s where legal ramifications come to play.

If it was illegal for the tapes to be sold at auction, then the Spector estate would be at fault. Spector’s lawyers know what they are doing, and they would not have allowed these tapes to be put up for auction, if it was illegal to sell them.

I knew that the tapes had been sold but, my bad, I didn't realize that was who you bought them from. I thought it was the person who said they had access to the tapes but couldn't give details and were looking to sell them, not the original auctioneer winner. With everything being so hush-hush, I thought they must have come from the sketchy source.

Still...a lawsuit will cost you all even more money. Once one person had the songs, they were always going to leak to YouTube. Always. You all must have known this. You know how these things work. I don't get how you can be surprised that they leaked.

The buzz and expectation around the songs with Spector were so high.. but after listening to them, I found nothing special...

They don't belong to the Falling Into You album, and maybe if they were actually released, the album would be very different from what we have...

I liked the "Is this what I get...", but after the second chorus it gets too repetitive... The vocals in it are amazing though! The 1996 mix is my favorite...

To me, "What am I to do" is probably the most radio friendly of the three... It's a little catchy...

And finally "Tonight I'll see the morning..." has the most interesting melody to me... It's like nothing she had recorded before... After a few times listening to it, I'm starting to like it... But it's too long and repetitive also...

Why would one of the terms of the sale be not to share it? I'm curious...

Anyways, I'm listening to those songs and each of them and they're growing so much on me. They would be amazing after some good production. I kinda agree though that it would have been hard to place them on the FIY album. Is This What I Get For Loving You would probably have been a great last song to conclude it. What Am I To Do before Make You Happy, and Tonight I'll See The Morning With Him probably in the bin because FIY would be fine without it lol.

Because they are copyrighted and unreleased material and are not supposed to be shared on free media or file sharing websites. That was part of the agreement.

All of Celine's music - including the songs she sings in concert - are copyrighted material and unreleased material and are not supposed to be shared on free media or file sharing websites. That doesn't stop fans from posting entire concerts to YouTube and for that illegal material to be shared on this forum. Either it's always wrong or it's never wrong. You guys are really picking and choosing when to be outraged at copyright material being released. It's amusing.
