Jacqui Posted March 21, 2008 at 08:12 AM Posted March 21, 2008 at 08:12 AM My Mum said she just recieved an e-mail saying they're gonna be really strict about cameras at the Sydney shows Quote
corr_azy Posted March 21, 2008 at 01:29 PM Posted March 21, 2008 at 01:29 PM I received the email as well. It applies for Melbourne as well. I am travelling all the way from Singapore and I think it's ridiculous if I can't even take a picture or two! Quote
likeaflower Posted March 27, 2008 at 08:02 AM Posted March 27, 2008 at 08:02 AM (edited) They feel your bag and take a glance at the top but they don't thoroughly search it. I've gotten away with it everytime, I keep my camera in the middle zip-up compartment of my bag, when they feel it and ask "What's that?" I say my phone & wallet and they let me in. Sometimes with big open bags, I just cover it with a black plastic bag and they see nothing. Best to have a black bag interior. Celine AJ Posted March 27, 2008 at 11:37 AM Posted March 27, 2008 at 11:37 AM You can get them in... Barbara Streisand was the person that had extreamly strict security and I got the camera inside...what can they do....they are not going to take it off you....they don't have the facilities to store them all....they will just tell you not to take pics... I assure you people will be taking photos....Bette and Cher had the same security and although I resisted at first.....towards the end...what can they do.....hold it up...press the button and hope for the best............ Everyone.....just get the cameras inside and try and get a couple of pics....if everyone does this and uploads them we all can have a nice photo documentary of her trip around the world.... So excited........only 24 hours to go for me......YEAH....and I will try and get some photos..........but becasue I am down the front...it might be more difficult...but will try my hardest! Quote

dirrtydavid Posted April 3, 2008 at 12:48 AM Posted April 3, 2008 at 12:48 AM I bought my tix in the fan-presale, so i don't have tickets, i have to collect them on the day, anyone know if a warning was on screen when i was ordering? i wasn't really paying attention cuz it was for dublin and the official on sale time was messed up and out back a few times...cuz if i not, and they don't let me take pics i will make them regret the day they were born. or at least that they came into work that day.... At Dolly Parton they didn't take cameras off you but the stewards would shine torches at you so your pic would be screwed up. £80 she cost me for no screens, no pictures and her f****** well lip-syncing. I wouldn't have minded if she was doin something that at her age would dislocate a hip or poledancing or something but no, she just stood/sat there with her microphone AND headset. In case you think i'm just being a bumhole, i wasn't the only one with problems with her, as proved with her last 1st date selling out completely in 20 mins, this time round it's been near 4 months and there's still the odd seat here and there *rant over* Quote
likeaflower Posted April 3, 2008 at 07:59 AM Posted April 3, 2008 at 07:59 AM Well, I thought about taking a normal digital camera with me, actually a little bit too big camera, just take a look, it's something near like that: http://www.takegreatpictures.com/content/images/Canon_EOS_Digital_Rebel_XTi.jpg Would that be ok??????? I smuggled in a camera about that size but I had a handbag. I kept it covered in a black plastic bag inside my handbag and softend it with my gloves so if they patted it down they wouldn't feel anything hard. Then I put my umbrella at the top of my bag so when I unzipped it they just see the umbrella, they don't go through your bag because it's an invasion of privacy. Quote likeaflower :: diva icons
dirrtydavid Posted April 3, 2008 at 01:24 PM Posted April 3, 2008 at 01:24 PM (edited) I emailed teamceline asking what they knew about camera's being allowed into venues and about taking pics etc explaining i'd be very pissed about paying near $400 for 2 tickets to see what will be the most expensive concert i've attended and not being able to take momento's home. And they replied saying to check the official artist website or fansite for the most upto date info as being a fansite they are not involved in organising the tour dates. So apart from answering some other question, they're told me to email the fansite/artist site for the latest info and i'm like "I THOUGHT I FRICKING WELL WAS!!!!" Belgium is rather strict with the no camera rule but all the concerts I went in Antwerp is saw dozens of camera's... From regular pocket size camera's to full DSLR cam's and even HD video cams... We'll give it a try, if it works it's fine, when it doesn't work, no problem either, as long as they store my equipment safely until after the show Then i will use my backup pocket cam, a sony W90 wich makes great movies Since i'm also a press photographer i've requested accreditation but I don't think they will approve it because they will have probably a lot of questions like mine.. We'l see, it's another month until the show starts in Antwerp. Quote ...
Dionesque Posted April 17, 2008 at 08:10 PM Posted April 17, 2008 at 08:10 PM Nice to read your message, Bralo! I've never been to any show in Belgium so far so good to know how is it like there when it comes to the cameras etc. I was about to see my fave Dutch singer in Antwerp the same venue Céline is going to perform but finally I haven't made it... Have you ever been to Sportpalais? Can you give hints how is it like when you enter it? Are there those metal detectors (kinda like on the airport - I know they have them in some venues) or are they just looking into your bag? Or only ask if you have any camera? Bralo20 Posted April 17, 2008 at 08:53 PM Posted April 17, 2008 at 08:53 PM Nice to read your message, Bralo! Have you ever been to Sportpalais? Can you give hints how is it like when you enter it? Are there those metal detectors (kinda like on the airport - I know they have them in some venues) or are they just looking into your bag? Or only ask if you have any camera? Dutch Singer? Sportpaleis? Marco Borsato? I'm visiting the Antwerp Sportpaleis several times a year for some concerts, so I know my way arround over there The best way to get a camera in is to enter it when it's crowded at the entrance. Normally the best time is about one hour in front. The Sportpaleis does not have any metaldetectors on the doors so that's not a big problem. At each door there are about 2 persons to check (and scan?) the ticket. When it's really crowded and people are pushing a bit they don't perform a check. They even don't ask about a camera... But then you have to go to your seats, a steward will guide you to your seat when you enter the block you are seated. Just wait to the beginning of the concert to get the camera. Just wait until the light are out and the concerts are starting... You should be able to take some pictures without to many interest from the security. If you bring a DSLR be sure NOT to bring an external flash with you... The use of a flash is mostly strictly prohibited at the most (serious) concerts, even for the press! Be aware of that, otherwise the security could visit you soon and ask you politely not to take picture or to use a flash. Certainly for the front rows... I don't know if you are coming by car? If you do so and you would like a nice parking spot you should park on Antwerp "Linkeroever" (the left site on the river "Schelde"). There is a huge parking at the highway exit with a subway stop which wil go to the Sportpaleis. The use of the subway (tram) is free when you have a concert ticket. The tram stops beneed the concerthall so you have to walk only a few meters. When going back you will see that the trams are really crowded. Just wait a little, there are plenty of trams comming. Just wait a bit and you have a nice place to sit Bringing own drinks is also not allowed but just like with the camera's they don't check it. The drinks and the food are rather expensive but not to much, it's just the regular rates for concerts in Belgium. If you would like to know something else, just give a yell Quote ...
Dionesque Posted April 17, 2008 at 09:13 PM Posted April 17, 2008 at 09:13 PM (edited) Haha, bingo! Yeah, I was going to see Marco Borsato but finally I haven't made it there... Hope to see his show an another time... Yepp, we (me and my hubby) will be coming by car as it's about 3 hours drive from the city we live in in Germany. We will stay 3 nights in a hostel "Op Sinjoorke" at Eric Sasselaan 2 and actually we planned to leave our car there and buy a 3-day ticket (if they have them in Antwerp) and use trams, buses etc. Do you have an idea whether this hostel is far from Sportpalais or not and if it's good connected with Sportpalais with a bus or tram line?? We'll be staying for 3 nights because we also have tickets for the show on 16th. Yeah, I understand the flash rule and actually I think (from my experience so far) that using flash at concerts doesn't make much sense, esp. when you are quite close to the stage. The lights on the stage are so strong that there's no real need and difference when taking photos with or without flash, am I right? And I only have simple Canon A510 so no fancy cameras here, hehe... jonny823 Posted August 1, 2008 at 02:31 AM Posted August 1, 2008 at 02:31 AM I'm not too worried about it! I have managed to sneak cameras and recorders into several different concerts I've been to at venues across the country. They always make it sound so strict but it's not as hard to get past the metal detectors as people think; especially if you are creative with how you smuggle things in.So definitely expect presents from me after I see Celine on August 12 and 13 in Boston.
