In a new interview today in a Quebec radio, Aldo Nova spoke about the true meaning behind the title track (A New Day Has Come).

He wrote the song at the end of 2000, and he wrote has a point of view of her with her pregnancy with René-Charles and he work just for Céline. She wasn't sure of this song in the first listen, but René told to Céline to this was so good and insist to keep this for her. So This song was very personal for Céline.

Honestly, that’s strange. The female singer Aldo Nova and Stephan Moccio hired said that Céline loved it instantly when she heard it, if I’m not mistaken. I found out about this a long time ago. What’s more, I heard the original demo that reached Céline and René, and part of that demo is the backing vocals that appear in the piano version. It makes no sense that Vito would have composed that song when it was actually two songwriters who were trying to compete to make it the lead single for an artist, but by joining forces, they achieved it.

It's Aldo Nova interview, no Vito Luprano at all. This was Aldo Nova spoke about the writing of this song.

It's one of her best songs, imo. I particularly like the slower studio version and the Live version from the 2007 Vegas DVD

Is new for me too.

I've been a Céline fan since I was 14, and now I'm 42. It's rewarding to discover new (and old) things even after all this time. smile.png

It’s a stunning rendition of the song. I remember being at a house party the night this aired and INSISTED everyone shut up so I could watch Celine on Parkinson. 24 years ago but I remember it like it was yesterday. Time flies.

I love the performance, but did they pitch it down on YouTube? It sounds off from what I can recall.

I just watched the version they uploaded on YouTube, and it's 100% pitched down. That's such a bummer, why did they do this?

I think on Instagram it’s normal. Has anyone seen the performance on other video platforms?

Do they not check comments after they make a post?

The performance on Apple Music is also pitched down, they really need to fix that:

Do you think they will upload the performances from the 2002 A New Day Has Come TV special? I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

'A New Day Has Come' will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year, so everything is possible.

The live performance of "At Last (Live @ Parkinson, BBC 2002)" was uploaded here in 2020:

https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1QC4y1b7VP/

The quality isn't very good but as you can hear it's not pitched down unlike the version on YouTube/Apple Music. Makes me wonder what they're waiting to fix the sound.

Something still sounds slightly funny about the audio. Is it just me? Sounds like they edited the audio still, even if the pitch is closer to the original broadcast?

You're right, it sounds slightly different than this:

https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1QC4y1b7VP/

Edit: I'm not sure as the pitch seems identical in both videos. Maybe it's just the fact that the bilibili clip is in bad quality... 🤔

I'm glad they paid attention to the comments on social media... or maybe they just played the video and realized the pitch of the audio was off so they corrected it lol.

If you are interested in the story of I Surrender, here is an interview with Edyta Gorniak, a big Polish superstar, who talks how this song was “taken away from her in 2002 and given to Celine”, even though she sang the demo for it. She also says that Celine even adapted the way she sang on the demo. There was a bidding war for this song and Celine won. A few years later, she then released the Polish version of the song.

I always thought the demo version was sang by Mary Griffin... she's credited on Celine's album as background singer...

she even released her own version on her album in 2001 (in Japan), andd then 2002 (rest of the world)
