"Taking Chances" album - Official Topic

some news i found on Japan's Celine fan site
Japan's MTV channel has Bordcast Celine's new video the making of the album on 1st Oct!
they will play it again on 3rd / 7th and 8th of oct!
it just says new footage of Celine!

since the news is from Japan i found a never seen before video of Celine singing TLYM with taro hakase on youtube

i believe it was originally boardcast on 13th april 1997 in japan..and it looks like they recorded it in a studio just like OYOH dvd's HYEBIL and MHWGO!

This is my 1st time to know that Japanese guy's name - 葉加瀬太郎(Taro Hakase).
And I found TLYM in his 10th Anniversary Live (Tokyo 2006...violin concert).

German release date is Nov. 9th!
We release CDs on friday, not on monday like the rest of europe

I think we shouldn't hold on to her being number one or not. It's just silly, really. Even if she's not number one, she'll still sell more records over all. I mean Britney, Alicia or the Spice Girls can maybe sell a million records in one week, but after that, they're dead. By this time next year, Celine would have sold many, many millions of Taking Chances. She won't be number one, because she's not selling all her records at once, but, over all, she's selling more.
Besides, her album is definetly the best. I'm sure Alicia has a great album too, I love her. But the rest... let's be real... And there's no way she can out do Britney in promotion. Bad publicity is better than no publicity and what's worse, bad publicity seems to be better than good publicity these days. It's sick. I mean, Alicia had a wonderful performance at the VMAs, but who cared? All the media cared about was Britney's being a mess on stage. Real talent and value are of no interest these days. So, even if Sony did everything right in terms of promotion, it would make no difference. In the sick world of today, people want to read about drama, drugs and so on, they don't seem to care about people like Celine and Alicia, with real talent and a good head on their shoulders.
So let's not get stuck in "will she be number one". It's not worth it. That would be important if the world still had their values in the correct order.

I totally agree with you...the people out there want scandals....and Britney is the best example...Maybe her album is quite good but it gets more attention than it deserves....... :ermm: I hope the world will change in this case!!!

Why is the link for a CD edition of the album linked to the DVD - Audio edition?? I thought they were releasing the regular CD, and now it seems this is the audio DVD?? (quote from amazon.com: "Please Note: This is a DVD-Audio disc which is playable on most DVD players as well as all DVD-Audio players. Click here for additional information regarding compatibility."). I for one want a regular plain old-fashioned CD to put in my regular big CD player that just plays CDs and not mp3, dvd or whatever!

I'm not buying this then. I only buy regular normal CDs, and believe it is a trouble for me to get them from here (Serbia), as in our stores the CD will probably appear sometime after New Year, and I can't wait that long, so the Internet is the place to go, but not for the DVD edition.

DVD audio, really?! That would be great. Björk for example has re-released her studio albums on DVD audio, unfortunately on those horrible dual discs where one side has the album in DVD audio (you can choose between DTS Surround or Dolby 5.1.) - the sound is amazing - would be great to get Taking Chances as DVD audio. It's great to see Sony is putting Celine on newer formats, first they released SACD, now we'll get Blu Ray and DVD audio. :w00t:

There's no way SONY would release DVD-Audio. SACD is the format they support. It's just a mistake on amazon.

Stupid format wars. Just release the DVD-A on Rhino.

Is anyone familiar with those label codes on Amazon?

For the DVD version it says Label: PRE (8002) and for the regular version Label: "AR-EXPRESS @ 162 (8002)" - the only thing I found googling was that AR-Express is or belongs to SonyBMG. Confusing.

France: Johnny Hallyday...

but remember that Falling into you and even Let's talk about love didn't debut at number one in the US!

I think Switzerland and Belgium are big candidates for her to be on the top.

Maybe Germany,Netherlands..(Altough I doubt that)
