"Taking Chances" album - Official Topic

Wow, I don't even know where to begin because I'm lost for words right now... Like, the only thing I can say is wow. Really, I was watching the chinese video and I was like wow. Wow. Wow. Wow... all the freaking time. Because words really fail.

Maybe I'm just a lame fan but I never expected much from this album. Afterall, Celine was doing modern things and 90% of the modern songs I've heard in the past few years were RUBISH. And then comes madame Dion and she makes this album. And my only word is WOW. I never ever ever ever expected this to be THIS AMAZING. Wow, Celine. Wow. WOOOOOOOOOOW.

That's just the woman in me - FREAKING AMAZING VOICE. I just adored how POWERFUL it sounded. It was beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Raw Celine that is. Amazing. Wow.

Alone- AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (This is me screaming at the top of my lungs) LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. Love the instrumental, loved the arrangments, loved loved loved her voice. I already loved this song and she breathed new life into it.

Eyes on me - Definately the kind of song I always despised because this is something Shakira would do and I hate Shakira's voice with a very deep passin, I think it's so awful, it damaged my ears for good. Now I just tell myself, the problem was not the kind of song, the problem was Shakira was ruining them. This is how this kind of song should sound. And I agree with someone (I think it was Davey) who said she sounds like Alanis. So yeah, this song is WOOOOOOW too because Celine saved a whole kind of song for me and it's amazing what I've been missing because others were ruining it!

A Song For You- OH. MY. GOD. That piano was not playing, it was crying. If ever a musical instrument could cry, it was that piano. It gave me goosebumps. And Celine's voice was perfect, controlled and most of all, so deeply emotional. For me that's what counts. I didn't even listen to it all but it's already one of her best songs ever. Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooow.

Surprise Surprise - Someone tell Kara to STFU, she is so deeply annoying, she sounds like my teaching supervisor who scares the hell out of me and tries to point out every single thing. The song is quite good, I loved the melody and Celine's voice, it sounded very good so another WOW for Celine.

A World to Believe In - It's just good old Celine that I loved my whole life and it sounded better than ever. Another woooooooooow for her for being such a WONDERFUL BEAUTIFUL SINGER that I love from the bottom of my heart.

Wow, this might be the biggest post ever but... oh well. Celine made my day. Celine made my week. Celine made what is very close to become her best english album IMHO. And this is why I am her fan.

"Surprise Surprise": sounds nice, but I really think Kara was making Celine record a billion takes just to make herself look important. Celine's got a perfect pitch, it's impossible for her not to notice the changes in a sound, a song. But she does have 100% trust in the people she works with so she would never question anything. Not to be mean, but Celine is right: Kara writes, produces, she can sing really well, she's good looking. And she tried to get a singing career and didn't succeed... Maybe I'm just crazy, and you may not agree with me, but I definitely sensed a little envy from Kara's part when she was making Celine sing the same part a billion times, for no reason. Not to mention, from all those producers with much more background and hits and experience behind them, Kara was the only one to comment on Celine's singing and make her feel like she's not hearing right and not performing right. But the song is good, and that's the most important thing. Again, I have nothing against the woman, it's just the feeling I get from watching her interacting with Celine on this video, that she had some frustrations she had to let out on Celine. And when she said "You'll thank me later" at the end, well, that just pissed me off. I mean most producers tell Celine to sing like that, or sing the other way etc... but I thought Kara did it in a disrespectful way, like she was better than Celine or something.

I thought that too. I don't know about being envy .... but she was definitely so annoying! lol *shame on her* LOL

Vic, you're my hero!!! LOL bless you!!!! hehe :yahoo:

Oh god i agree, i can't stand her on this videoI I mean if i f i was working with her it would be two in the head and one in the chest just to make sure. In my head during the part of the video when Celine is rubbing her neck im imagining that celine is actually strangling her, that girl needs to learn some RESPECT

I loved Kara and Surprise, Surprise. That girl had a great ear and I wish more people that work with Celine in the studio would be more exacting about the way she sings. I didn't get the vibe that she was being envious and mean, but just that she knew what the song required, and wanted Celine to do it justice. This girl is a professional, and think she was right to stop and ask for more takes. This might be a song where we don't get any throaty or nasal tones. Sometimes, the more correcting artists will bring out the best in Celine!! I'm looking forward to this song. Perhaps WE will thank her later!!

I just can't stand that Kara girl. Hehe, like when Céline says "I'm loving to hate her". Kara is too frech in the buisness and her success has gotten to her head, and yea I think that people should bring the best out of Céline, but at times Kara was just silly. It got embarrasing to watch, even the guys next to Kara got ashamed.

Can't wait for the album though!

Personally I don't mind Kara's behaviour. I like the song, she gave Céline kudos for what she is and everything is just fine. She was of course VERY David Foster like and perfectionist but I don't mind that and I certainly don't think this has anything to do with her nasal or goaty notes of which btw there were none here especially judging by the crystal notes in "World To Believe In".

Of course, to be fair, we don't know just how long Kara and Celine were in that studio, and how many times she did the same phrases over and over again!! I think in the end though, as annoyed as they might have gotten, Celine respected this woman's fierceness and perfection. Then again, maybe Celine has found a new Diane Warren! LOL

Anyway, as far as the other songs go, I'm not impressed by these clips. She seemed a little off pitch with some screams in TJTWIM...and boy are those screams. I'm not much for that and at the moment it seems a little over done, but hearing the entire song when the album comes out may be very different. Eyes On Me...simple and nothing mind-blowing for me. I actually preferred her martian sounds in the session! And as for ASFY, I'm not liking her singing there (or her interpretation). At the moment, it sounds like she missed the mark on the emotion of the song and is again over-emoting, but like I said, I won't hold on to any of these opinions so don't hold me to them! I look forward to hearing the entire album, how the songs are from start to finish, how the songs play off each other, and most importantly, how they sound in good quality right next to my ears.

It's pretty evident it was her CelineDion-like style of singing a la "Show Some Emotion".

I'm hearing "throaty" in some songs. You don't hear any "throaties"? Mind you, it's nothing like TTWII, but I hear it. Ah well, perhaps it's just me. Luckily, it's not enough to turn me off.

No, no I don't hear anything throty - rather more nasality but that has been her natural singing style ever since 1984 so that's a crucial part of her voice. I will not over analyze her voice here since after 25 years of singing it still sounds good especially considering she has been recording in Vegas again. And of course we're judging some of her takes, not final versions.

Alone is amazing!

I was expecting it to be like the original but Celine totally has her own take - the orchestral first verse and chorus really make the song cos when it kick in it really kicks in

WOW

I never even knew the song the orchestra was playing........

The R.Kelly tape of recording sessions will be aded as bonus to the outside of the american market pressings of the album. Cuzz of its explicitness and showing very evident situations happening with minor Thai hos.

Exactly, so we can't really even tell what the album will be even with this video, which is interesting, and why I won't analyze her voice too much either! I will say though, that I'm liking the new "womanly" maturity and depth her voice is showing with these songs, also evident on D'Elles. Some older songs sounded slightly passive and 'sweet', but she's rocking with confidence now, straight from her gut. Lovin' it.

What a ride. It's great to see her having so much fun. Hopefully that freedom and joy will come out in the overall vibe of the album.

Celine blew her away. :mdr:

Thanx. There's a video of SS on youtube too. I found that... Anyway, I didn't like it at all. I was waiting for something completly different. I just don't care about that. To be true, Kara could be very, very far from this album that I woudn't miss her at all.

"Surprise, Surprise: Great guitar! Sounded a bit cheesy at first, and she sings prett low during the first part, but it ends great and the chorus is great! I liked this one a lot!"

Yeah, it sounds cheesy, BUT! I have to say that I'm VERY, VERY suprise about ALONE. I wasn't waiting for something so powerful, so beautiful. It makes me remember about "TOP GUN". LMAO. Loved it!
