amelie Posted September 10, 2007 at 09:14 PM Posted September 10, 2007 at 09:14 PM question. These sales through pre order add up to the 1st week sales? that would be good Quote
CSCfan Posted September 10, 2007 at 09:22 PM Posted September 10, 2007 at 09:22 PM This is a GREAT strategy.. Kudos to Céline's management/Sony/Amazon! Having this preview on Amazon and thus directly make it available for pre-order (for a low price) is just very clever! And it definately works.. we're still 2 months away and it's getting more exposure by the day! mebe Posted September 10, 2007 at 10:29 PM Posted September 10, 2007 at 10:29 PM I just read that about Britney Spears on Canoe Jam music web site: "...Some comeback. Breathlessly hyped by MTV as the evening's most anticipated performance, it became the most shockingly bad of the night. Jive Records might want to push back that Nov. 13 album release date..." Also, apparently in the "Journal de Montreal" of today, they said Celine's album will be out on November 6th... (??) So maybe their albums are not going to be released on the same day after all. JamesMorrison Posted September 10, 2007 at 10:32 PM Posted September 10, 2007 at 10:32 PM Well, there are SO many artists releasing the album on that date. I wouldn't be surprised to see the date pushed up. Quote
Say What? Posted September 10, 2007 at 11:41 PM Posted September 10, 2007 at 11:41 PM I'd rather see the release date being pushed back and not up. :/ Quote

That's pretty cool that she's up that far and it's not even released for 2 months! She may get a good jump on Ms Keyes then - Go Celine!!! Quote ~J O E Y~

kylest21 Posted September 11, 2007 at 03:17 AM Posted September 11, 2007 at 03:17 AM (edited) I honestly don’t care if Celine debuts at number one. I would love it if she did!!!!!!!!!!!! But I would rather hope she debuts at least Top 3 and continues to have strong sells for a long time, then have a big debut and fade away. I love Alicia Keys new song, but I’m undecided if I’ll be buying it the week of release, I might wait to hear it first. I know for sure I will wait to hear Britney’s new cd before I buy it. Here is Alicia Keys track record for her CDS:Songs in A Minor- debuted at number 1 in 2001 with 235,000 copies sold in the first week. The Diary of Alicia Keys debuted at number 1 in 2003 with 618,000 copies in the first week. Unplugged debuted at number 1 in 2005 with 196,000 sold in the first week. Here are Celine’s recent track record:A New Day Has Come debuted at number 1 in 2002 with 527,000 copies sold in the first weekOne Heart debuted at number 2 in 2003 with 432,000 copies sold in the first weekMiracle debuted at number 4 in 2004 with 107,000 copies sold in the fist week I think Celine has a real good shot of a big opening if the promotion is handled right, especially since Miracle has been her lowest opening since her two year break and it was a concept album. Amazon's prices will probably be lower than the boutique's and faster shipping. You can always cancel the preorder later if you change your mind. You won't be charged until the item ships.
