Meatloaf's New Single

Meatloaf knows exactly what he is doing. He is trying to make a big deal about the whole "Celine stole my song" thing, just to create some issue. If he can cause enough chaos, people will listen (and possibly buy) his song. This is all to sell his new album. I would say he was doing a pretty good job after reading all of the posts concerning this issue. He is getting most everybody to watch the video whether they like the song or not and it seems to be getting plenty of attention! We all know Celine's song is better, and that his version is just like hers and even the video resembles hers. He did it all on purpose for publicity! And it's working!!!

true as you are, i can't help but cont. to comment...

according to the "battle" interview, the only reason he's dissing Celine's version is because it wasn't a duet. Like it's not good enough on it's own.. Good gosh he's so bitter.

 

 

hopefully this will draw attention back to Celine's version (the better one!)

In Las Vegas...she is trying to cover as many bases as she can and sing some of her greatest hits. If she did a FULL out version of the song, live, every night then her voice would be so tired. I want her to keep her voice healthy for future projects. But yes...it would be AWESOME if she came out on some big TV show(like Oprah) and do the full length version of this song and BLOW him away!

I always referred to ICBTMN as the "Meatloaf" song, because, as others noticed, it sounds like a Meatloaf song.

 

I laughed when I heard Meatloaf's version (although, I will say that it is much better than the HORRIBLE American Idol performance). Since I've heard Celine Dion's version many times, I think his version sounds ridiculous.

 

Honestly, its not a bad version of the song. But, Celine already sang it, and she sang it much, much better. I seriously don't understand why anyone would choose to listen to Meatloaf's version instead of Celine Dion's version.

What the hell is Nikki Sixx doing writing the title track for a Bat Out Of Hell album? The Motley Crüe bassist's prominent role is the first clue that something is seriously wrong with Meat Loaf's latest, Bat Out Of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose. Thanks to a dispute over the Bat trademark, Jim Steinman, the songwriter behind the theatrical excess of the first two Bats, opted not to participate, and the results are disastrous. Undeterred by Steinman's decision, Meat Loaf includes seven old Steinman songs anyway, five of which had already been recorded by other artists. Just one song, "Bad For Good," is truly worthy of the Bat Out Of Hell moniker. Written by Steinman in 1981 for the original follow-up to Bat I that never was, the song is a welcome flashback to the old days, with jaunty piano and elaborate vocal arrangements that recall classics like "Paradise By The Dashboard Light." Brian May adds guitar and, for seven-and-a-half minutes, it feels like 1977 again.

 

The other Steinman tracks either aren't his best work or somehow feel out of place. "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" might be the least necessary remake of all-time. It worked great as a soaring, passionate ballad for Celine Dion in 1996, with Dion playing the role of the abandoned lover, but here Meat Loaf performs it with Marion Raven, whose only qualification seems to be that she's capable of looking good in a tight dress in the music video. The duet feels forced and unnecessary, Meat Loaf is left awkwardly singing falsetto in places, and—here's something I never thought I'd say—the song doesn't compare to the definitive Dion version. Then there's the horrifying "In The Land Of The Pig, The Butcher Is King," a metal-lite head-scratcher that actually closes with swine noises and which might be the worst song Steinman ever wrote.

 

The rest of the album is filled with second-rate material like the song written by Nikki Sixx (along with John5 of Marilyn Manson and producer Desmond Child), which only serve to diminish the series' legacy. The entire notion of a Bat III should have been canned as soon as someone uttered the name Diane Warren, yet here she is, contributing "Cry Over Me," a tearjerker every bit as sappy as anything she's written in the past 20 years. Even some of the strongest vocals of Meat Loaf's career can't save the song. Child co-wrote the rest of the non-Steinman tracks, most of which are mediocre power ballads trying to masquerade as hard-rock songs, "Blind As A Bat" and "If God Could Talk" being the worst offenders. This almost feels like a posthumous album, the way it was cobbled together with leftovers and scraps of questionable material. In a way, that's a fitting sentiment, because the Bat Out Of Hell series as we know it is officially dead.

I HATE Meat Loaf!!! In the Veronica Guide (dutch magazine) This week he says:

I just heard Meatloaf's version of IACBTMN and I have to agree that it's horrible. Even the vid sucks big time.

 

However, I love all of the songs in his album Bat out of Hell 2. One of the best albums. Have yet to hear part 3.

Pandora's Box

In 1989, Steinman gathered a group of female singers and formed the one-album band Pandora's Box. Band members were Ellen Foley (who had already played Wendy in 1977's Neverland workshop production and sung with Meat Loaf on Bat Out of Hell), Holly Sherwood (formerly of Fire Inc.), Elaine Caswell, Gina Taylor and Steinman.

 

The album was released along with a video, scripted by Steinman and directed by Ken Russell, for "It's All Coming Back to Me Now", but a planned tour was scrapped. The album was not released to the United States originally. Sales for the album were modest, though Steinman continues to be very proud of it. The track "Original Sin" was recycled several times: it is featured prominently in the musical show Tanz der Vampire, in 1994, singer Taylor Dayne covered a slightly reworked version of "Original Sin" (produced by Steinman) on the soundtrack of the movie version of The Shadow and Meat Loaf also covered it on his MeatLoaf 1996 album Welcome to the Neighborhood. The album's final track "The Future Ain't What It Used to Be" was re-recorded for the MTV movie of Wuthering Heights starring Erika Christensen.[10]. Celine Dion's take on "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" was a U.S. #2 Pop and #1 AC hit in 1996. Also Meat Loaf has recently recorded "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" and 'The Future Ain't What It Used To Be' on his new album Bat out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose.
