I really don't see how this could for for him. He sounded so strained when he sang this with Katharine on AI. I hope he doesn't rip this song a new one cause Celine made it one of the best songs she has done.

 

 

I don't think he will have a bigger hit with it than she did, because lets face it, Celine Dion is the originator and no one can out do her when it comes to singing a song.

Please, NO ONE should judge Meat Loaf's singing ability from his AI performance. Besides being extremely nervous, he had technical problems. In a recent interview, he said he couldn't even hear the music or himself singing for at least the first minute, so he didn't know when to come in. He even criticized himself. He hates doing TV in the first place, and the lack of hearing could only increase his anxiety. If you doubt his singing ability, pick up his Live With The Melbourne Symthony Orchestra DVD, it's magnificent, and was filmed two years ago.

 

Now, as for his IACBTMN, he sounds great, but Marion Raven sounds crap, IMO. It's also a stupid single edit, and a lot of the verses are cut out, so I won't feel right judging it until I hear the album version. I know this is a Celine Dion forum, and everyone will agree that her version is far superior, but at least give it a listen.

 

And for whoever said it sounded like it should be in a broadway musical, right you are, it's Meat Loaf and that's the point.

Celine had same trouble during the whole performance on Grammy 2004 and handled it like a trooper.

 

This version arrangement is quite similar to the Idol version, just Marion Raven sounds worse than Katherine Mcphee, and Meat Loaf is better this time.

 

Actually I heard some old Meat Loaf albums recently. I find almost all his songs are the same Jim Steinman epic style. It's very nice. But could be boring if the whole album or even all his albums in only one style.

well i have to say it's very different to celine's version..

so can't really compare .... Celine's version is really ballad.. and powerful..

Meatloaf's version is more of rock-ballad type and it's a duet...

 

in some part Meatloaf's version it seem to be like another song cause they change the key / melody a bit so... (you know what i mean?) especialy the hight long note part...

but over all it's not bad at all...

 

of course i would prefer Celine's better than Meatloaf's version...

I didn't like that performance either!

 

He also showed up at one of the Houston Astros games w/ the Mets in NY and sat in the booth with the sportscasters. I guess he'll do anything to promote his new album. He even led a chorus of "Two out of three ain't bad". Stick to acting, Meatloaf!

 

The sportscasters said "We know your a baseball fan, but what do you consider yourself - a singer, actor, baseball fan...?" He said "Actor - I've been in 41 films then baseball, baseball, baseball" He coaches and plays.

Well I'm very sorry...I guess everyone hears things differently..some will like it some won't.

 

I know for sure that when I want to listen to this song...I know who's version it will be...

 

If I rate Celine as 10/10

Then I rate the Meatloaf version 1/10

 

Even allowing for the different styles...it just does not cut the mustard for me...I've heard the clip posted and that is as much as I will ever want to listen...ever...

I hope we get the Chance to see A duet of It's all coming back to me now....as Jim Steinman is one of my favorite writter/Producer and that song is probably my favorite Celine Rendition even the video resembles the one for "I'd do anything for love (but I won't do that)"

I appreciate that this is not a full quality recording, but the vocals sound really "tinny" I think they could do with bit more bass to give it "oomph". I really don't think Marions vocals suit this song, she has a very young voice. I feel it needed someone with a more powerful and mature voice, a bit more rock and roll. I'm afraid she just sounds a bit too girly for me.

 

Celine would have been an excellent choice for this song as a duet. I'm not just saying that because I'm a fan, but I can't think of any other female vocalist who has a strong enough vocal and can add that rock edge. She would be able to match Meatloafs rock ballad style very well! Now that Meatloaf has recorded this song there is a chance they will pair up some time... maybe

Yet for all the unapologetically heavy tunes, the album also has more of the heart-wrenching ballads Meat Loaf is famous for. The most peculiar one is a cover of "It's All Coming Back to Me Now," the Steinman song first propelled up the charts by none other than Céline Dion. Meat Loaf's is a more strenuous version, sung as a duet with Marion Raven, a 22-year-old Norwegian rocker, and it's been handpicked as the album's first hopeful hit (the video premiered Monday).

 

For the album preview party, an old church turned nightclub had been done up with towering candelabras, while an animated trailer for the third Bat album, with a furry winged demon, a bikini-clad woman with angel's wings and a shirtless stud on a flaming motorcycle, played onscreen (the trailer can be seen on Meat Loaf's MySpace page).

 

The lack of air conditioning under the club's gothic arches on one of the hottest evenings of summer added to the feeling of hell. However, considering Meat Loaf's appearance on the American Idol finale last May, as well as this new Dion connection, one wonders if he takes his underworld image with a grain of salt.
