ks1981 Posted July 15, 2006 at 08:02 AM Posted July 15, 2006 at 08:02 AM yeh i believe there a big connection with Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf with past work people here in the uk instantly recognise that Celine's IACBTMN is very similar to some of Meat Loaf's work i think thats because its so easy to recognise Jim Steinman style. This is what Meatloaf said about Celine once on VH1 I like Bonnie Tyler a lot, but did she really understand "Total Eclipse Of The Heart?" I don't think so. When Celine did my song "It's All Coming Back To Me Now," she did a great vocal, but she didn't own it. the stupid fool - no-one can pull that song off better than celine! Quote
irishphil Posted July 15, 2006 at 11:06 AM Posted July 15, 2006 at 11:06 AM No one can really do the 'jim stienman style' like Meatloaf can. His 'bat out of hell' albums are some of the biggest selling albums in history. But Celine owns 'its all coming back to me now' and he is kinda past it vocally, even though I do love his music. Quote

fred Posted July 15, 2006 at 02:06 PM Posted July 15, 2006 at 02:06 PM I always thouht this song sounded more like a Meatloaf song than a Céline song, but she did it and she pulled it off, she carried it up like no one other can. She claimed it hers. I use to think Céline covered this song from Meatloaf, now it's the other way around, hehe. It has been exactly ten years since Céline did it and that touches my limit on when a cover is allowed to be done (what was Ronan Keating thinking covering Iris??? It has not long ago been a HUGE hit from the Go go dolls, and his version can't match theirs, bad move bad move) so I guess I have to accept another one covering Céline and trying to gain popularity while doing so (releasing single). I am kind of releaved it was Meatloaf and not someone like let's say Jessica Simpson who decided to cover this song. I just hope he doesn't make it a bigger hit than Céline and thereby her version will go forgotten... /fred Quote Peace and love to all.

firebird Posted July 15, 2006 at 03:19 PM Posted July 15, 2006 at 03:19 PM I use to think Céline covered this song from Meatloaf, now it's the other way around, hehe.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>She did cover the song, though not from Meatloaf. It was recorded by a group before. There was that story that the singer of the group fainted when she had to sing the high notes. It was posted a while ago.Meatloaf was very popular. I liked this one song he sang, it had a great video clip, where he was in that castle in the wood, it was something like a "Beauty and the Beast" story.Actually the way Céline dressed in her 1994 concerts, like TCOML DVD it reminded me a lot of Meatloaf, that glamour look, it was really similar. George Woodson Posted July 15, 2006 at 05:31 PM Posted July 15, 2006 at 05:31 PM My cousin likes Meatloaf, and the song is the style of song he sings, so im not suprised by his choice. However, I don't think that Meatloaf's version of the song will better than Celine's, it will be different, and Celine is so well-known for that song that he could not take it from her, its her song Besides him re-recording the song may lead to some positive publicity for Celine Quote

People aren't as tired of Meatloaf as they are with My Heart Will Go On, he has had his "hiatus" from the world for a long time. Bad luck for Céline fans and this song will be his come back. Celine=Love Posted July 15, 2006 at 08:12 PM Posted July 15, 2006 at 08:12 PM Meatloaf will MASSACRE this song, guaranteed. Altho I dont watch American Idol, I did have the opportunity (bad luck?) to see him on a cable music station recently and in two words: HE SUCKS! His voice is shot....and, as the many replies have shown, no one knows him anymore. This obviously must be the trend in music nowadays - if your career is basically over, the only way to continue it is to make bad covers of good songs. This kinda reflects poorly on Steinman too. What, the royalties have stopped rolling in so he's going to resurrect his old songs? Problem is, the music world stopped caring about those epic ballads he was writing YEARS ago. Nothing against him or his music, but its time to hang it up! Quote "When I hear no violins..You play my every string..."
