And on the topic of Celine writing songs didn't she write and produce a song for Marc Dupre while she was pregnant with the twins? Regardless though even if she does ever write a song for herself I imagine it would be a French song not an English song.

Celine says she writes better in English than in French because she hated school when she was a little girl and never paid attention whereas she was determined to have an international career and took very hard to learning English. She wrote "Tous pres du bonheur" as "I'm Gonna Love You Forever" in English and then it was later translated into French.

I know that removing the song would cause more talk, but if she finally keeps it on the album I wouldn't stand that he would be getting royalties after having accused her of "stealing" his song. He still needs to make a public apology. I'm waiting for it.

I somehow confused songwriting credits (his name in the CD sleeve notes) with songwriting royalties (money for his contribution to the album).

Please don't try and get Water And A Flame off of the album does anyone know what will happen if the song get's dropped. Celine and Rene will have to change the whole concept for the album again and have more meetings.

They will also have to go through more songs to choose a new single and title for the album. I really don't want that to happen. I hope everyone forgets about the whole drama with this song and just let it be.

I'm sure Celine and Rene have it under control. It sounds to me like things are already taken care of, from what Dave Plattel said. I can't wait anymore for this album. Please, Know more set backs.

I also find it odd that they might not have informed Celine!
I know she might not google herself to see what's going on but at the end of the day when it comes to something that is damaging to her good name and possibly damaging to her new album before its even released , she should be informed!
I know they are trying to protect her and she is busy with orher things , but how awkward if this pops up in an interview in the future...this makes me think that she has surely been informed of this?

True she does not read her own press, but given that this press has gone to another level... she now knows!
Lets face it, in future interviews this question/topic will come up especially during promo for the album, and things are different now a days than back in the day with twitter and fb with info/news going viral so quick and easy to alot more people... and to ignore the subject or not be aware when asked would be silly and embarassing.
But keep the song, just dont release it as a single...

I don't think they have to change the concept and push back the album only for one song, come on. They just need to pick another meaningful song as the title of the album, it's that easy and simple. Besides, the "Water and a Flame" concept was originally intended for the half Vegas/half originals album, a concept which has been rejected long ago, so actually this song lost its meaning since months ago already

just read his FB post...wow. I feel like he did not want anyone to cover the song but don't understand "did not give credit" part either...I would be the happiest kid in the block if Celine sang the song I wrote. chill, dude!!!    Performing/singing for 32 years is lots of life -experience and especially when we talk about Celine. I think the album title Must be changed at least.

Celine is always thankful to the writers of the songs she interprets. Daniel Merriweather has taken its conclusions too early and look what happened, even an article about angry Celine Dion fans... I think it is rather amusing and it also shows the enormous power of social media!
I just looked on Daniel's official facebookpage, and indeed many pro- Celine reactions. Many many reactions. Think before you act mr. Merriweather!
Celine always gives credit to the writers of the songs and she will never ever say the song is her own or that she wrote the song, because we all know, Celine does not write her songs ( exceptions to the rule ) and she is grateful for the many talented writers and composers that offer her songs that she can make her own.
But let's punish mr. Merriweather by taking Water and a Flame from the album. I did not like the song in its original form and I was not surprised by Celine's interpretation either.  By taking it from the album he cannot get royalties anymore
But let that not be a reason to delay the album until Christmas 2014!

Wow Merriweather is not looking good now, however, the comments on the article just posted are taking his side. I don't understand why they are taking his side when in a tv show it is never been a discussion or an asked question about the writers. No offence but they do not know what they are talking about at all. Also Eg White needs to show his   behind somewhere and clear up his mess. And look Samantha Ronson was the one that told him about it and what did she say? Stupid!

i think some of his fans don't understand what they see and hear. The comments about Katie asking to Celine : Why Water and flames..not realising that in fact she was asking why did they choose that title...And those who say that he may be  ashamed that someone like Celine wanted to sing the song.  He was afraid  to lose some hipsters fans ..He can return to his depression, me neither i don't Celine to sing the song.
