I belive celine could write songs BUT she would spend so much time on one song becuse she is a perfectionist she would spend so much time doing so.  I'm not sure how creative she would be though.  I think the fact we have rarely seen what she can do with her creativity we have no idea if she could or not.

I'm quite happy for her to have songwriters write for her as it gives her albums a variety of different songs, different topics and different feelings. Adeles album it a tad boring because it all one feeling...

YES!!! So it was Dave Platel who wrote the comment? Let's keep the ball rolling guys, we got the Vegas covers out of this album, we can get one more song out too!

I'm proud that all fans agree for once with this matter! Hopefully Céline and René realize about this and also see this song doesn't deserve to be anymore in her album. We don't like it and let alone with the things that happened!!!!!

not all.. not maybe such a fan... for me it is a pitty if she drops the song and you win... I loved that song when I heard it years ago when Merriweather released it with Adele and I think it is a pretty good genre for Celine... a really good song with quality lyrics... but well, if you prefer more Unfinished song and less of this because you think it is "boring"... I must be mistaken inmy tastes... because all of you thouth A Song For You was bored and for me it was one of the gems in TC because of the lyrics and the production quality with the instruments along her in the studio...  buut well.. whatever.. lets do more stupid EDM songs and weak pop music...
maybe you want At seventeen out too.. lets move for that too....

This song doesn't deserve to be in the album anymore. This guy doesn't deserve to have his song on a Celine album after what's happened, he doesn't even post an apology (but he keeps posting on his facebook).

It's not a battle, is a question of manners and respect. They can still release the song as a b-side in a single (like Map To My Heart) or as a bonustrack for Japan. But to have the honour of being the title of the album, or a single? No way!

And I can't deny I would like also At Seventeen to be out of the album. I respect your preference for covers, but this incident has proved that maybe Céline should just give covers a rest and go for originals in her album, at least for this one

  i think celine is a songwriter. she is just too modest to write more songs. didn't you read the poem she wrote to rene in the book for keeps? she gave me goosebumps

He wrote the melody and produced it. The song is 50% his and 50% Werriweather's.

I agree after all it is Celine's choice to have the song on the album not ours. We should be grateful she is releasing something. Would you rather she pick something original like Beautiful of Mariah Careys which is horrible or Cher's new song ? Nothing fantastic. I mean really he said what he said now a post was made with Celine's management response.... move on

Anyone who will care about the story will watch Katie Couric's interview with Celine to understand whats going on. and people will not only realized that Daniel Merriweather is a douche, but also that Celine Dion is working on a new album!!!

Dave Platel, who works at Dion's management company, said the singer does not read anything about herself. "Celine doesn't surf the net, or read the newspapers," Platel said. "(But) she would be very upset if she knew what Daniel's been saying."

Why not telling her about this? She deserves to know what kind of person Daniel is so she can decide if she still wants to keep the song and the album title.

Firstly because she let others run the business side of her life/career and secondly because she has other priorities and it makes her more grounded.
Sometimes it's good not to know or not wanting to know everything.......

But I'm sure they'll tell her sometime, because you'll never know when interviewers will ask her about this and it will make her look bad when she doesn't know anything about it. These situations are even harder for husband-managers...

I would think she's been told by now, who knows? That's why all this discussion is somewhat funny to me, because we are all going on and on here and she hasn't a clue!? It's kind of like, don't worry your pretty little head.
To be honest I hope she did know about it sooner and was pissed as hell!

I personally hope they keep the song, in my opinion it will cause more of a "scandal" if they completely remove it from the album. However, I do think it should no longer be the album title (I did like it though) and that should not be released as a single.

And on the topic of Celine writing songs didn't she write and produce a song for Marc Dupre while she was pregnant with the twins? Regardless though even if she does ever write a song for herself I imagine it would be a French song not an English song.
