I wish people would just stop this lip-synching thing... It is not like she lipped the whole show. She lipped 5 songs in the English shows and 2-3 songs in the French shows. She still sang 16-20 songs live in most shows.

I know this question will annoy people, but I just want to check something: :)

I know that in English shows Celine lips IDAN, TPOL, IACBTMN, TLYM, EOM & MHWGO, but when you say 2-3 songs in French shows do you you just mean IDAN, EOM and MHWGO? I didn't think she lipped any French songs...

Thanks :flowers:

I meant IDAN, TPOL and MHWGO. I'm not sure about EOM... But I guess then technically it was 5,5 in the English shows and 3,5 in the French shows... I was also not sure if she sang EOM and the TPOL in all the French shows, so I was just trying to get some kind of average... She didn't lip any French songs... And if I remember correctly she didn't sing IACBTM and TLYM in the French shows.

Yeah :)

I am a Celine fan but I really do think she should sing live at her show's and not mime. When you go to a concert you are paying to hear the artist sing live if you wante'd to save money you just buy the cd.Here is a couple of Kylie's X2008 video's and she sings live at every concert even when ill.Kylie only charged £49.00 for all tickets either at the front or back.People should give Kylie alot more respect for her voice in a live show as she really does sing live.

The fact is, most people who go to see Celine in concert (in the US at least) just sit in their seats like sticks in the mud and could barely give a damn.  It's really really sad.  When Celine was in New Jersey last fall it felt like I was sitting in a library going through archives of ancient newspaper articles.  If I dared to stand up all the evil eyes around me were ready to jolt out like I was committing heresy or some unforgivable sin.  Do you really think they deserve to hear the best of her?  And this is the reason I believe they continue to use the playback more and more.  Not because certain songs might take a toll on her night after night, but that it's just futile to sing every note live from start to finish if the crowds are unresponsive.  You mention that Celine uses very little playback during her French concerts.  Well that totally makes sense because the crowds in those shows are completely wild for her (and would definitely know what numbers she's miming).  Those are the types of crowds that Celine should give her best to, because they will uninhibitedly express their appreciation and admiration for her.  But to the rest of the patrons who show up to her shows and act completely embarrassed to be there, 'let them eat cake.'

I'm not saying this to refute the proposal for another Vegas run.  I completely support it (but would probably support it more if she came to the east coast :) ).  It's just become a routine around here to hear complaints about this and that song being lipped.  It will permanently be in effect just because the vast majority of the people that are there are not fans...and I for one stick behind that policy.  Now, however, if we propose a show just for forum members, I guarantee you it will sound very different.  :msn-wink:

I agree ! I did went to see her KylieX tour in Bangkok, Thailand. She did gave us an amazing show with 100% live singing even in songs that she had to dance her butt off lol What a great great concert!. In Asian countries leg she actually had to cut many songs out of the list but after she saw the audience was having so much fun with her performance that night. I saw it with my own eyes, I was in the fifth row of that night, Kylie walked back on stage and whisperd to her musician something and then sing a few more songs to thai audience like 4 or 5 songs and end the concert with " Better The Devil You Know" which didn't happen in European leg. Another thing that I like about seeing Kylie is she doesn't stick to the script so every show is different and more natural. That concert really gave me one of the best memory of the great concert!! What a warm and gennerous of her to all the thai fans that night!

Does Celine really need that much of shows for one tour? I don't mind if she will give less performance, lower the key or charge us more but sing it all live like the other divas in the history like Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston (in her glory days), Tina Turner, Elton John. Trust me the show will be much more alive and fun. Does great art need perfection? =NO!

I have turned a blind eye, and bitten my lip long enough....
But can we please stay on topic and leave out the friggin lipsyncing/miming comments for once, this topic is not about that!!

I'm all for fans having their say its a messageboard after all....
And if certain fans really feel the need to talk about this endlessly, please create a seperate topic regarding it, and post to you're hearts content on that topic, I have not go a problem with that...

I'm just fed up with it popping up in every topic recently on the forum, and I'm sure others feel the same.

Thank you,

Darren.

That's kinda harsh, basically saying "the money you paid for your ticket isn't a good as the money someone else paid", which is a little alarming to me.    But you'd probably go on to post on another thread that "Celine is such a wonderful human with a heart so warm and a soul so bright.. she's the best!" so it's even weirder to me now.  LOL.  A show is a show, and lipping is lipping, and singing is singing.  If Celine were truly in her dressing room, deciding it over with Rene before the show "oh the crowd doesn't sound too into it... let's lip everything tonight, they don't deserve to hear my golden voice", then I think we'd all have our heads spinning on our shoulders right about now.  LOL.  She's continually added lipped numbers to her shows over the years, adding a song here and there, kinda culminating in a lipping extravaganza in Vegas, lipping nearly all the big hits that people come to associate with a Celine show, and continued the trend to the world tour.  Maybe she does it out of the desire to give everyone the same song, so no one can say "I saw her live, and it was great but __________ [fill in your fav hit here] sounded horrible", when the very next night she could pull it off flawlessly.  That idea, coupled with her ever ongoing voice preservation, kinda makes sense, though I do not support the idea of lipping so much...c'mon, we're paying to see a live concert, and nothing else.  It wouldn't be so bad if there were newer tracks being used, or even better if we could hear what's coming out of her mouth during songs like TPOL, IDAN, MHWGO, etc etc...why aren't we permitted to hear her sing those songs anymore?!  LOL

But for every thread that talks about lipping, there's been a show that's had lipped songs.  LOL.  We're trying to keep a ratio going here.   :sofunny:   All kidding aside, there are tons of great live performances from Celine, but wouldn't you kinda almost maybe say lots of those are from years ago?  We've had a handful of standout performances from the tour, the few TV specials with live stuff and what else?  Didn't it used to be that almost every song was a performance like that?  Send me a youtube link, cuz I'm dying to see some chest thumping, jaw dropping performances from Celine in the past 6 or so years.  Just dying. There's a few that are my favs and I've been so excited about that I've shown my family and friends, but there have been a lot more that are "cooker cutter lipped songs" and it's kinda like blaaaaaah, really? Fact is, she's created this monster herself, using so many pre-recorded tracks... if we take out all the lipped numbers from the Taking Chances Tour, what kinda show would we be left with?  Obviously a show that Celine herself wouldn't be proud of and show Rene would never let happen, otherwise the songs wouldn't be there to begin with.  They're in the show and being lipped for a reason.

Oh my word, some people just never stop...   If you don't like what you see or hear why do you even bother to watch... The fact is TPOL, MHWGO, IACBTM, TLYM and IDAN draw pension, so I couldn't care less if she lips it or not. I would much rather hear her sing her new stuff, which she did on tour (and quite masterfully). So GET OVER IT!

Las Vegas here I come!

I know we moved on but I just have to say something else (don't worry it has nothing to do with lipping): roberry82, you talk about ''jaw dropping performances''. Define the phrase ''jaw dropping''. Because if you mean hitting huge notes and stuff I feel sorry for you... Singing is not always about hitting huge money notes. And I think even Celine started to realize that. Just hearing her voice and the emotion she brings to a song is enough for me...

If she goes back to Las Vegas, I'm getting tickets. If she returns with A New Day, she'll try to reach the crew, musicians, dancers, and more.

Yuck!  Anyone else enjoy the TC Tour era more?  I guess I'll expect fantastic non-promoted Franco-albums.

Here's what I hope the stage will be like, I hope you like my idea. :D

I've also included a rough sketch. The main stage should be a lot wider than how I've drawn it!

So they reckon the contract has definetely been signed and it will start in a years time?

I hope this isn't true - not because i don't want her to go back, but because returning in about a year doesn't indicate baby no. 2 does it? And i really wanted her to have a year off and then start planning the show for about 18 months from now. We'll just have to wait and see - i shan't take any of this info as gospel just yet! :shifty:

Well I'm not happy about vegas simply because she is in danger of pigeon holing herself but if it's a COMPLETELY different show then I deffo wanna see it. Better song choices may be made and if they make it mor stylish like the TC tour it will be so much better. I suppose they've learnt alot from the 1st 1 so hopefully will get this one bang on by way of not dressing celine up ridiculously like a clown. They need it to be less cheese and more innovative....and no power of friggin love!! Haha .

I'd like to see her have a whole new album if new material specifically for the show. Not like last time when it was scraps of a new day album and bits of other old songs

HA!  You're totally right man, those clown costume were borderline retarded! Chic and innovative would be nice. So would occasional concerts in Europe!

Look back at her wardrobe in March of 2003---some were stripped from a clown.
