Celine at the 66th Grammys, presenting album of the year award

Thought I'd share my thoughts about her appearance since I haven't done so yet flowers.gif

It was so amazing to see her! It felt like the occasion, entrance, and reaction she deserved as a certified legend in music who has been away from the industry. Seeing her reunite with Law whom she clearly adores, and accompanied by RC (who incidentally seems to have inherited his dad and grandad's hair genes giggle.gif) was so touching and made us believe, just for a moment, that it was like the old days. LOVE that they chose "The Power of Love" as the walkout song. And a part of me feels that when she said "I love you right back!" she was giving a small nod to all the fans who have been sending her love over social media the past 4 years.

Initially it looked like the right-side of her hair was out to the side, and I wasn't sure if she was wearing some kind of device connected to her ear for her condition. But she was radiant and glowing, and her little laugh when she first looked out into the audience made my heart melt. She was clearly so happy to be there. And her voice sounded incredible singing backstage, much better than I would have guessed all things considered. I thought it was a Stevie Wonder song, but now I'm guessing it was just Celine improvising and Sonyae following along lol. Even her speaking voice sounded more normal than we have heard it in the video messages she's shared. I assume for her public outings, she schedules her IVIG therapy as close as possible prior to the date so she can be at her best.

About the Taylor Swift thing, I noticed Taylor's snub immediately like I'm sure we all did. Sure enough the internet went ablaze and defended our diva. I didn't have any opinion on Taylor before, but now I dislike her. I was looking forward to see the eventual winner's reaction to Celine, but she ended up being so out-of-touch with the moment and rude in ignoring Celine. And all the excuses her fans came up with were bogus. It was unfortunate that Taylor's faux pas took some of the focus away from Celine's return in itself, but on the plus side it only made Celine go more viral on Twitter and thus reduced the number of ignorant people who believed Celine was on her deathbed.

p.s. now next on my radar is seeing her attend an Adele show at Caesar's.

p.p.s. i wonder if she crossed paths with any other music stars backstage, like Bey or Mariah

p.p.p.s. the colour of her coat is practically embedded in my mind now too, haha.

I highly doubt that she will visit Cesars after she is now signed with Resorts World.

She will be there!

Are you just guessing, or do you know FOR SURE? Because your reply sounds like you know "100% for sure", & there have been ALOT of false predictions from fans on both social media & on this forum that have not come true in the slighest! That is why I am a little bit sceptical with these "fan predictions" & these so-called "insiders info/connections" that some fans are claiming but has zero truth!

At some point we’ve got to reach a TS saturation point, no? I mean, she’s everywhere. Sooner or later people will start getting annoyed with the overexposure.

Some of my colleagues were in the room on Grammy Sunday and apparently her album announcement went over like a lead balloon. The audience was made up of industry folks, not her fans, so the sentiment was “girl, you’re everywhere and winning everything, you don’t need to hijack an award show for more promo”.

Yea trust me, I have reached that point with Taylor even BEFORE the Grammy Awards. Now even though I like some of her songs, & I do acknowledge her talent & success which she has rightfully earned...

I am also tired of hearing her name in the news for EVEEEERY THIIIING she does! At the end of the day, she is just a regular human being like the rest of us (who just happens to be filthy rich, same as Celine & all of the other rich & famous celebrities in the world, past & present!) Not every movement, every word, or every fart that comes out of her is gold. While yes she is talented for what she does as a singer, songwriter, live performer, etc... the media needs to stop acting like she is God, because SHE IS NOT!

Ok my 'Ted Talk' is now over, thanks & have a great day.

Taylor seems very performative. Like...she was singing along to "The Power of Love" immediately (when most were just in awe of Celine appearing), and then she completely ices Celine on stage. Like which is it??

She also didn’t know the words lol. It was very Oprah.

So a new song? I can't really imagine how that would sound, but of course it would be a treat for both fandoms.

As much as I would love a duet with Adele, I don’t see it happening. Celine would probably say yes in an instant but I don’t think Adele would. Adele is still riding high in the charts with every release. Her formula is working a treat - release high quality music every few years. I don’t think she’s very into collabs either (correct me if I’m wrong). Can’t see her polluting the water that is her strategy for a duet with anyone, even Celine.

But a duet of them two would surely do well, if not very well :)

gosh I would love that

I think for Celine, she would say yes if the song was right. She's a huge fan of her, remember her framed piece of gum? giggle.gif

Well, looks like Adele is postponing all of March so don’t expect Céline there any time soon -

Lol just wanted to post it. It does all sound very believable. It would be very thoughtful if Céline gave a heads up to her family. And it's very promising she sang to her family! And I love how Claudette incorporated CQMTA for the Maman Dion tribute.

Interesting that she considers RC an introvert. Must have taken a lot for him to speak at Rene’s funeral.

Also interesting that this time Claudette isn’t saying anything about what it all means for Céline’s future. Maybe she learned her lesson with her previous statements…

I read the following passage: Claudette trusts that doctors will find a drug that will help her sister fight the disease - "Céline deserves it, she has given more in life than she has taken," and I think other patients and their families are reading this. Of course, the sister has a right to feel that way, but the question is whether it's worth saying so publicly. Unfortunately, the real difference between Céline and the rest of the patients is not that none of them "gave more than they took" - probably many of them were as generous and hardworking as she was. The difference is fame and unlimited financial resources. If Céline gets more effective treatment than others, it's not because of her great character, but because of the money.

"Céline deserves it" (and others don't?) is a very unfortunate phrase.

I don't think Claudette means any harm in this comment. Of course you'd wish your sick sibling, parent, spouse etc to be cured above anyone else. BUT if (with Céline's money) the possibility of a treatment or cure is accelerated... then it's still a win/win for all patients suffering this decease.

It's unfair to want her and everyone around her to always consider the entire patient community in every sentence they utter.

Claudette wants the best for her sister. What anyone else thinks about that is irrelevant.

Note that I am neither talking about Claudette's intentions (on the contrary, I wrote that, as a sister, she has the right to think so privately), nor about the real - although, for now, only expected - good effects of Céline's therapy on the other patients (who will certainly benefit from greater awareness, but whether they will have access to the same treatments remains to be seen). I'm just talking about the very unfortunate wording.

I’m sure when they grew up in such a large musically driven family… the Dion clan considers many people “introverts” especially RC who (seemed) to live the bulk of his early years as not only the only child of Celine and Rene together… but probably surrounded by much older people, (his parents, siblings ( before the twins), god parents Linda And Alain and the house staff, and teachers and tutors.

I’m sure Claudette’s children grew up in Canada with dozens of cousins around their age, outside the spotlight of their mom’s fame. So basically I’d like to know Claudette’s definition of that term. :hmm:
