Here we go for the very first album I received as a Christmas gift back in 1999, "All The Way.. A Decade of Song"

 

Me too!! When I opened the gift I thought, “But I already have MHWGO on the two Titanic soundtracks — I don’t need the rest of her music”. :lmao: Later that night when I put the CD in my discman, I was absolutely blown away by the album —start to finish. From then on, I was hooked!!

The ATW album was clever. The new songs were for the older fans and the old songs/GH were for the newer fans, who know MHWGO and TTWII. I was also a newer fan in 1999 and this album made me a real fan of her English music.

This is the album that made me a fan as well. It was 2005 I believe. I think all songs range from very good to excellent, not a single track I'd skip.

Did you see videos from Madonna's latest Tour? It's so sad that a woman at her age behaves like a teen and her outfit looks cheap. Sorry, there is nothing sexy about it.

1) That's The Way It Is - such a staple song in her repertoire! Totally different sound than what she released prior

2) To Love You More - a very special song in her career. Mega hit in Japan. It was included on so many albums (depending which region), TCOML, FIY, LAP, LTAL. It was even played on the radio in Holland, despite not being a single.

3) If Walls Could Talk - still love this song to this day. IMO it should have been part of AND, it would have worked so well on that stage

4) Then You Look At Me - a shame it never got the recognition MHWGO had. I guess they should have used it for a better movie :P A live version would just be epic!!

ATW was also my very first Celine album, and I got it for Christmas. I remember playing it soooo many times on my portable CD player while in the car or in my bed... what a treat back then! I'm so thankful for this gift that introduced me to Celine's english repertoire.

 

Here are my votes (I'd put all 8 if I could) :

- Then You Look At Me well duhh no explanation needed.

 

- Live - I loved that she lipped it during the Millenium Concert, it was just a 1 time thing, I wonder why the added that song and after that completely ignored it

That said, my choices are as follows:

  • A New Day Has Come because it is one of the best songs of her entire career and perfectly represents the album and this particular era.
  • I'm Alive because it's quite possibly her most uplifting song and easily the biggest hit of the album.
  • I Surrender because it is an exemplary recording both in terms of vocals and production that should have been released as single.
  • Have You Ever Been In Love. Gorgeous ballad. ANDHC heritage. Enough said.
