[Game] Céline Dion's 'Eras' Tour

Hi everyone,

 

Taking inspiration from Taylor Swift's Tour 'Eras' in which she has dedicated specific sections of her concerts to celebrate each album release, I thought of starting this thread. So, how about we design the 'Celine Eras' tour?

 

This is just a fun activity aiming to distract us from what's going on at the moment and also commemorate milestones in Celine's career. I am also curious to see what an ideal setlist would be for us considering our long-standing debates on the matter.

 

The activity is as follows:

 

1. Each week we focus on 1 Celine album/era.

2. We all post a comment in which we choose 4 songs from that album that we would like Celine to perform.

3. At the end of each week I'll count the votes and summarise the results. The 4 songs that gathered most votes will make it to the setlist.

4. We will then proceed to the next album.

 

If you could also justify your votes that'd be great, as discussions are always welcome!

 

 

So, for the first Week we focus on UNISON.

 

The songs I would like Celine to include in her tour from that album are:

• Where Does My Heart Beat Now, because it is the best song of the album IMO, also the one that put Celine on the map.
  
• Unison, ideally the remix version.
  
• Have A Heart, because this is the song that helped raise the album budget.
  
• I Feel Too Much, because it is THE BOMB! I just love it and wish it had received more attention.

For Unison, I picked 2 singles and 2 album tracks:

 

1) Where Does My Heart Beat Now (full version!!) - this song is Céline's international break through. I love the vocals, the rock sound, the lyrics, the amazing bridge. To me this song is quintessential English Céline. The live version from the Wintergarden concert is just EPIC! That a cappella encore, sublime!*

2) Unison - Single Mix with Rap - I love this remix so much! And the rap makes it sooo 90's. Would love to hear this live.

3) If Love Is Out the Question - One of the other upbeat songs from the album. It never got much recognition, but it's a killer song. With sung a strong chorus! (But if love is out the question

There's no point to this affection, I gotta have more than ecstasy, Make me believe, I'm all you'll ever need).

4) If We Could Start Over - is this the big sister of Nothing Broken But My Heart? If we didn't have HAH, this would have been a perfect ending to album too.

Very interesting idea! Reminds me of the “Survivor” game we did about ten years ago 😍

Here are my choices for Unison:

 

(If There Was) Any Other Way - It would be incredible to hear this song with her current live vocals. I specially love the ad-libs she did at the Rick Dees show in 1990.

 

If Love Is Out The Question - This has always been my favorite mid tempo track from the album. I am convinced that she would totally get into the character if she performed the song today. I can already picture her faces while performing it haha

 

If We Could Start Over - It was a dream come true to see the live clip from 1990 a few weeks ago. I believe a live performance of this ballad with her current voice would give a whole new vibe to it.

 

Have a Heart - Unfortunately it’s been completely forgotten since late 1991. As somebody mentioned before, the song propelled the budget for the album, that’s a good reason to give it a second life!

1. If There Was Any Other Way - one of my fav uptempo songs, it deserves to get a second life.

2. Have a Heart - basically the same reason as the others, the performance of this song at the Junos helped to raise the budget for the album, and this one is also one of my favorite songs,

3. Unison (Remix) - Always love her performance of the remix version of Unison

4. If We Could Start Over - One of the best songs of the album.

As much as I love the idea of an Eras tour I don’t think Unison was a strong enough album to have its own era. If she were to perform 4 songs from each album it’d be a 18-hour concert!

 

I would probably combine it with Incognito and Celine Dion and call it the “breakthrough eraâ€.

We are looking at a setlist of 40 songs+. Beyonce included 40 in her last tour. It will be fine!

I disagreed, Unison is a very strong album, is one of my favourites,
