Céline has Stiff-Person Syndrome

Lmao Uh, FE isn't a personal hypothesis. French Canadians aren't considered one of the best gene pools to study by geneticists for no reason. This phenomenon is recognized by the research and medical communities, but sure, let's go with 'crazy s*** and cake' lol FE doesn't mean absolutely every FC has a rare disease, it just means significant risk than an avg person. What about it contradicts the current diagnosis her case is the rare SPS? It could even explain the bizarre probability. No need to get weird about it.

Dating back to the 1600’s lol. You made it sound like Celine was a current inbred from Alabama.

You're the one who likes to make it sound crass like that, not me. Science and documented genealogical mapping reflect she (as other FCs) has a higher risk for rare diseases, is the sound I have made.

Gotta admit, from the GenX-Millenial groups, I've met a flat earther once (it was... interesting) and I've met a married couple who don't believe dinosaurs have ever existed (strange, but that's religion for ya); I didn't realize I'd encounter someone who doesn't believe in genetics (and thinks the 1600s, approx just 7 generations away, is ancient history) lol I guess we'll agree to disagree because to have to defend the reality of genetics in the Year 2023 would be, well, absurd lol

A simple google of "French Canadians" "genetic research" can help you stop being weird about it, if you're really interested in the topic beyond casual snarking.

I went to school, and I’m aware. I bet most people can go 7-8 generations back into their genealogy and find SOMETHING amiss. I’m not ignorant, and I believe in both dinosaurs and the curvature of the earth.

Okay, you believe in genetics but keep insinuating founder effect, FC's unique gene pool, and passed down gene mutations and hereditary rare disorders are unbelievable in this case, and that this is a personal opinion I pulled out of my #ss despite all of the above being scientifically documented? yea, that makes sense lol

I don't even know what you're arguing against. That FCs don't have increased RD risk? It's a documented fact in 2023.

Who cares unfortunately it won’t change anything.

Maybe she got it because of her genes, her environment, ballet dancing, some people try to say it was her taking the covid vaccine, all those IVF inter muscular injections she had to do….or maybe it was her path, she has a 1-in a million voice and now 1-in a million syndrome.

Only god knows.

Earlier, Davey84 posted this. From her ear issue to SPS, it really wouldn't surprise me if genetic profiling is prioritized because of her FC background. I wouldn't expect less of her world-class doctors to not put it under significant consideration. It's just unfortunate that the genetic profile for SPS, if it is indeed a genetic disorder, hasn't been discovered yet, nor aligned hereditary mutations that may precondition you to SPS, if it is non-genetic.

I find that she has been able to gain good weight back and that her neither-improving-or-worsening pretty stable state as good signs that I hope she doesn't squander by rushing back to work.

Of course it matters (to her medical team and hers/public expectations). Her docs being allowed time to test out and determine if it's a disorder from lifestyle/workload or from genetics. The interventions would be different.

I'm only talking about it because @CelinesDIVO5 picked up on the specific topic. Who doesn't love a little science talk

Her health definitely has improved a lot over the past few months though. Back in May she missed the Love Again premiere, the premiere of the first film in which she has a main role, which she was expected to attend. An event where she knew she would be letting people down by not attending, especially if they did, as rumored, push the release date back just for her health to improve. These days she’s attending even things she really doesn’t have to attend and no one expects her to attend. Obvious significant improvement.

I guess I'd rather not assume impvt on the physical symptoms, I'm just going by Jacques' description of it neither improving nor worsening. Maybe the movie premiere just happened to hit the bad days? I agree, though, there seems to be an impvt at least mentally, there's positive adjustment—from the very somber message video, essential closing down shop of the entire Céline corp and reclusing away, to relaxed public outings that include concert dancing just about one year later! Def a tiny win.

(This forum is such a time-suck. I wanted to take a 15min break and logged on to read the Whitney and the Céline is Cool Again threads—90mins later I'm still here lol Back to the trenches!)

On the face of it that is quite a harsh comment but the same thing actually went through my mind too! Kind of a creepy conversation that was going on there.

I don't take offense because it's not harsh, it's genuinely amusing. Like someone trying to insult you for saying gravity is real—how do you even take that seriously lol

Instead of saying "That doesn't apply here because xyz," there's a subset of people who know they can't (because science) yet still feel compelled to flap their gums... that's life lol says more about them than me.

There's nothing creepy about it, I promise :) like there's nothing creepy about the Icelandic or Finnish ancestry, nothing creepy about the French Canadians lol it's just how relatively isolated societies develop. Just because a delightful superstar was born from there doesn't erase this historical reality lol

Yes I was thinking the exact same thing, classic Celine.

I guess I’m my head I picture her shriveled up in bed so this is fantastic!

I have had the time of my life following this woman! Much love.

I don’t know why so many people were buying that Celine was bedridden… I’m sure she had some days where she only rested. There’s people on the social media accounts saying this “can’t be possible we thought she was in a wheelchair and dying”

I think most people in her place probably would’ve continued working their regular 9-5 hustles for two reasons

1. They need to income ( Celine doesn’t )

2. Their jobs aren’t really physical (Celine’s is)

Well I never really believed that either but I get why people did. There was nothing from Celine or her team, no info how she was doing, if it's better or worse since her statement last November and the media going crazy and reporting the dumbest stories about her dying and being bedridden, close to death or that she's in a wheelchair over and over.

So I get when you only follow the reports and nothing else you got that picture of the situation. Now it's clear that all these reports were fake and just made up by someone. Celine herself showed this :)

I don’t know… all the SPS patients I follow on socials are on permanent disability. Of those I can think of off the top of my head, three had office jobs, one was a dentist, another a celebrity stylist (including for Mariah, of all people). I think it just really depends on the nature and severity of your particular symptoms. SPS seems to be so varied in how it manifests in different people.

Because of it being so rarely diagnosed, I wonder if Celine’s capability of paying for any treatment is helping her receive some more advanced/experimental treatments which could be why her symptoms ‘seem’ to be pretty minimal at least in comparison to the others you’ve mentioned above. Also, with this being a “progressive” syndrome I wonder how long ago their symptoms began in comparison to Celine, we do know that overall Celine was probably diagnosed much earlier from the onset of symptoms than the average person and even so with being CELINE DION it seemed to take some time for them to officially give her the diagnosis. So, I hope not, but it could just be the factor of Celine seems to doing a little better because it is in the earlier stages due to it being diagnosed pretty rapidly all things considered.

It was great to see her doing well!! She looks well! I like that she gained a bit of weight.

The fact that she attended Katy Perry’s concert, I don’t know if it means she is coming back…

I think with all the rumors circulating and radio silence from her team, maybe they just decided to show up when the rumors got too far??

From what I read, SPS is very unpredictable so even if she performs in a more relaxed way (like unplugged style for example) those spasms can occur at any moment on stage. I imagine they don’t want that to happen….

As for a new album or documentary, that would be nice.

If there will be any important announcement probably on a date that has 5 in it… so 15th, 25th… perhaps?

Honestly we have so many albums and so many materials from Celine over the years, I personally don’t “need” her to come back (luckily I have seen her live 4 times). I hope she will stay healthy and maintain the life she wants.

I know this is off topic but I’m desperately trying to find the full video of this performance. It comes up on my Facebook reels every so often. She looks and sounds so amazing here and I’d like to hear the full version of this song “Is love alive” (?) does anyone know where this is from, or the actual name of this song so that I can find the full video? Thanks so much!!
