That woman has done so much in her life, by 20 years old she had probably accomplished more projects than any body else in their their lifetime will ever accomplish. For sure she forgot some moments or details of moments in her career. What i assumed happened is that one day she was told that they took her demo for the official track (probably the soundtrack album). She was probably very impressed by that and forgot the rest. She's been sticking to that story ever since, and became her truth. But it also tells you that she doesn't listen to her own music much, cause you can clearly tell that there is a version for LTAL album and total different version for the Titanic soundtrack. .

it's not totally different. The musical arrangement differs slightly, but her vocals are the same, except for the long note at the very end.

Perfect Goodbye original version was more mid tempo and had a dubstep bridge. Wasn't kept as it was and it's now a beautiful ballad.

I really appreciate your inside info, however it would be cool to know how you know about that. Do you know someone from her team, or are you part of her team? If so, is there more stuff you herad about?

Yes I know someone that worked on some of her projects but I can't say too much.

I love her reaction in the interview for the 20th anniversary of Titanic, where she is honestly surprised to hear about all this, that she seems to have totally forgotten. Who can blame her ? In those years, she was here one day and there the next day. I don't even recall what I have been doing last week !

She didn't re-recorded it... They just edited for the LTAL.

 

I believe that she recorded the demo in one session only, maybe one single take, maybe not... But when she says she recorded it in one take, this is what I understand...

And the coffee explanation she gave is very believable, since her vibrato is totally different in this song, and that's is hard to replicate.

And hasn't she always said "the version they used in the film" was the (one take) demo? Which is true.

Anyway, Afanasieff himself claimed he had Celine re-recording some parts months after she recorded the demo that was used for the soundtrack version when it came to mix the pop version (that has a different tempo by the way)

yeah, it seems that this "one take" story was just created around the song to make it unique and maybe stress what a gifted singer Celine is, when in reality it was recorded like every other song in several takes.

 

Maybe just the very first demo was only sang once, but we never heared that. So basically, claiming that the demo became the official version is a lie, and the difference in the album and the soundtrack version is a profund proof for that. Funny that they think people are stupid and will believe everything. Particularily after Walter said that she recorded it in several takes it became kind of embarrassing, and Celine only commented with "It's been so long ago. I don't remember." LOL

They just speeded up the last chorus and edited the last note for the LTAL... You can hear kind of an echo in it...

It's the same vocals... In this video I speeded up the Soundtrack to match with the LTAL tempo (of course it's not perfect since I don't know the exact tempo change they made), and there's no difference in the vocals, just the last note that they made a sustained single note.

Even the last melisma before it is the same.. that's VERY hard to replicate EXACTLY the same... She never did it live...

 

I think they copied the sustained note from 2:50 (on my video) and pasted on the last "go ON..."

I can’t believe we’re here debating this MHWGO ending again! It’s clearly the same exact vocal, but they added effects in post-production for the LTAL/radio version.

 

Every breath of these two songs is the same except the last note, for which they added an echo effect. It’s the same effect used for the ANDHC version of “Sorry For Love”, recorded only 4-5 years later.

Walter have had problems with Whitney, Mariah, and from what I remember nothing too big with Celine... But he always has this "superior" and "I'm always right" vibe... I just don't believe him...

He just wanted to be part of the huge success the song had... Yes indeed he produced a whole new arrangement for the song, but the vocals are the same.

 

Don't you all think that if she REALLY had re-recorded it, we would have studio footage of it? Like, the LTAL has that behind the scenes of almost all of the songs... And they would miss her biggest hit? Just doesn't make sense.

I think she was never scheduled to record that song in Greek. As far as I know, she only met with the singer who covered it in Greek back in 1995.

Whether Celine went back into a studio again without James who knows but he said when he was present she recorded the song twice.

So that was what I imagined... one recording session... and the demo was made.

It was indeed a demo, because James Cameron didn't wanted any song for the credits, so it was secretly recorded...

And when Cameron heard the song and changed his mind, the demo became the official recording...

 

By saying "one take" Celine may be referring to this one recording session, or maybe she forgot she sang it twice...

But I hardly doubt she would forgot if she went on the recording studio in a different day to re-record it with Walter, since she hated the song at the beginning
