Also loved the USF arrangements of the "Je danse dans ma tête/Des mots qui sonnent/Incognito" medley and "Je crois toi".

 

Playing devil's advocate here: although I also believe Scott brought more life to most of the songs, Mego's influence was kinda really limited because of René. Scott was "lucky", René wasn't as hands-on when he came aboard, although IMO, he could've done more (after 2017).

To me, Change My Mind is exactly the type song where Celine shines. Modern enough but classic Celine too.

There was no Dion family medley during Une Seule Fois. I was there and the only guest she had was Jean-Marc Couture during J'Irais ou tu iras. Scott did do Céline sur les Plaines in 2008 which was for Quebec 400.

I find myself listening to this clip over and over...

I think I'm just eager for new Celine content!

It does have some similarities to Soul, but I think I'll like this new song more.

I can't believe we're still there with such basic and mediocre songs, after all those years. While critically aclaimed artists finally begin to show love and interest toward her. She's still there doing those bland and generic songs that destroy the already low credibility that she has in term of repertoire. She has no taste that's not possible.

It will always be her worst fail. Her english repertoire. René did fail to bring her any artistic credibility, recently everyone gave her a hand to collaborate with her and she's still there doing, choosing such a mediocrity, with zero ambition.

Who says she was trying to get an Oscar with Unfinished Song? Maybe it was more about creating a catchy upbeat song and not about a potential award.

Well, I know. I know also that by saying this I will get the answer that it is subjective, a matter of taste. Of course, this is an opinion. Anyway, I will also always respond that it is not that much about liking the song or not. I may enjoy this kind of song and still think that it is really, but really bad.

 

This is honestly the point in Céline's carreer that can really upset me or I would say, makes me sad, even unconfortable. A big part of her english repertoire. I can't with the fact that she chooses such generic songs. And know that I see the hypes she can generates, some artists out there looking at her.... And her making this particular choice, now ? Bringing such a generic, outdated, dull production ? That really makes me sad about her artistry.

A bit upset also cause she is just the biggest vocal instrument on earth. This is just what she is. Her musicality is out of this world. She should have been an object of experiments for so many different composers and so many styles. I'm more than OK to have her in a mainstream pop vocalist field.... But how can we not have even one EP, 2/3 songs in a whole 30 years carreer that really brings something else ? A particular collaboration for one song, an EP maybe, just one album ? With a jazz, Opera, metal, gipsy, acoustic, orchestral, avant garde, underground.....Put whatever you want. Something that would attract a new crowd or a new eye and reviews by new magazines, journalists. Aclaimed or not. We have absolutly nothing. I don't think I can think of any other popular world star like her with such a generic repertoire. They all lived, experienced at one point in their carreer, for one song, one project, collaboration, EP... This artistic collaboration that brought something else. Like, there is a failure somewhere in my mind.

Okay I get your point, I would also like Celine to experiment much more. Maybe not a full jazz album, but yeah why not en EP with 3 - 5 songs and let the world see what a great artist she is, someone who's not forced to be at one field in the music industry. Someone who is able to just do what one wants to do

It's interesting how she didn't take a stereotypical route.... doing a duets album, more Christmas albums, etc.

However, at this point in her career, I do think Celine should just do whatever she wants to do.

Like Cher doing the ABBA cover album. Or Barbra doing the Broadway album.

Celine should just record whatever music she feels passionate about and the fans will enjoy it if she enjoys it.
