After reading the first reactions here I was quite reluctant to watch the video but I am glad I did it.

Without any expectations I listened and....I like it 😊

To me it does not Sound like Anastacia but more Soul/Pop...Definitely current in a good way.

Yup, i guess no pretty voice for us this time. It's this raspy, Sia-ish voice she always uses nowadays where it's like she's eating her words... to sound soulful and current.

Yeah i hate that voice. It feels like she is thinking « ok lets record that song in 5 minutes » and why the hell the producers are so scared to tell her that not everything she sing sound like a masterpiece?!

I want Kara DioGuardi back! She was amazing in the Surprise Surprise recording!

To me this way of singing doesn’t sound soulful at all. It rather sounds awful lol. Recovering was sang cristal clearly and beautifully and was truly soulful. She thinks that this unchained style is somehow good or even cool, but dear lord, it’s really awful. Maybe she wants to sound like LP... And I thought the raspy bedroom voice in WAAF was bad. This is so much worse. It’s a shame that she is THE VOICE but is happy with an official recording like this. Edited by ryba

On Dutch videoland I saw a documentary about David Foster and Celine was also interviewed. She told that David is a perfectionist and let her sing over and over and over again until he is satisfied. I have the feeling that for the courage album and this song David would not let her sing this way and in many of those songs he would have corrected the pronunciation I am sure:)

I think the sooner we get used to her matured voice and her new style of singing the better we will cope with disappointments in this regard.

Maybe the Song was recorded in the Courage era and thus her way of singing is similar to some of the songs on the album.

But all in all, I think the older she gets the deeper and the raspier her voice will become ....something we have to get used to.

The last song she wrote to Celine was incredible pale and forgettable so I won't be surprise they went for something totally different.

How much the vocals smiliar to For the lover that I lost (C parts) or Lovers never die?

"Needed in the chaos and confusion, from the plains to City Hall

Needed where the proud who walk the wire are set to fall"

This must the reason they didn't record something in ages

I think there just hasn’t been the right moments. He has said he is not sure of the direction he would go with her... does David really work for anyone since he did that album for Charice?

For me, the gold standard of pronunciation for her is Power of Love (the soft parts) and All the Way with Frank Sinatra

the lyrics as I can make out over Diane talking are

Are you expecting some kind of perfect perfection.

Can you expect anything less.

Now you think that I can...from my hands...all I can do, is do my best.

I'm only human,

made out of flesh and blood

I bruise, I bleed, I'm not a Superwoman

Can't be your Superwoman

I'm strong, I'm weak, I'm not a Superwoman

Can't be your Superwoman

I'm just me

It almost feels like Diane wrote a sequel to Soul

The title just makes me think if the Dionne Warwick// Gladys Knight // Patti Labelle song

It definitely sounds like Celine Courage vocals. The days of Celine trying to sing perfectly are long over I'm afraid. It doesn't mean she sounds bad, but the older she gets the more pronounced it is. She could get away with it more years ago but since the voice naturally deteriorates with age, she really does need to try harder for better vocals because the natural nasal tone she has gets worse and worse the less she tries.

I’m just so upset to read some of the comments... why people are critical... we are all ageing and if Celine sounds differently, it’s just a natural way of life.

She doesn’t have to do anything differently just to satisfy a couple of unhappy people.

She sounds different because she chooses to. On Recovering she sounded crystal clear, and that song was recorded around the same time.

I’d love to hear her sing another song with “da flu” because she apparently had it when she song “naked” and that was an amazing vocal and I liked her tone

She sounds this way because she chooses to. On other songs recorded recently such as “Wicked Game” or songs from the Courage album like “Courage”, “The Chase”, FOMO and many more she sounds perfect and sings with her signature Céline tone. I think it’s due to her trying to sound soulful. What baffles me is how she can be satisfied with that.

Why would she "choose" to sound like a frog? I'm not sure I understand that.

Actually, i’m hearing a sia like voice on that song. Céline should go back to her own style of singing. The classic Céline. Not Sia version

because she chose to sound like a frog on various Courage songs too. She probably thinks it’s cool or special

I like what I hear so far, but have to listen to the whole thing to be able to give my opinion on this one :)

I had stopped to think how Celine should sound.

Since then...

Her team is a big team, they did an amazing job with courage.

We got 6 singles, 5 music videos, 3 tv special, and a Netflix documentary,

A tour named after the album, with 12 songs out of 21, from her most recent album.

They did an extraordinary job, why to complaint?

What is perhaps more frustrating than Céline’s tone on this song is the production of the vocals. It also seems to be the case with the first song heard in that video. So dry and scratchy. Why can’t they produce songs like they used to in the 90s? This applies to official footage of Céline’s performances too.

Because her voice isn't like it was in the '90's anymore? Because, like everyone else... evolves (whether one likes it or not is a different question)?

Voices of all singers change over time, probably more with female singers than male singers. It's here to stay, like someone said earlier... we have to get used it (of we're not already by now).

Maybe Celine is sending a message to her fans with these lyrics! She probably asked Diane to write about that...

I only entered few times to David's Facebook page but that was maybe like two years ago, I have no idea if he is still working but I wish he is. That man has a talent like no other. I care less for her pronunciation and actually love to hear her more in French, what I care the most is the delivery/colors of her voice. These elements can connect me to a song or to cause me to total ignore it.
