It's not "All By Myself"... it literally has an empowering and imploring message after that. Asking for Courage in the face of trying events which you described.

By your logic, when is the appropriate time to listen to the song Courage then? And why would Celine want to sing a song about death given that she lost her mother/brother/husband recently? Or why would anyone who has gone through loss want to even listen to that song? Obviously they do and the answer is that there is some use and value in these songs emotionally upon hearing them.

 

Yeah, again, I just think different people have different expectations. I see this event as a celebration! To some people, a song singing about a loved one dying and praying for courage to get through it is celebratory. To me, it's depressing and sad. Can't wait to find out what she actually sings!

That wasn’t my point.

 

A plea for Courage versus a plea (presumably to God) to keep loved ones safe? Both pleas, that’s first. But second, neither are celebratory which was my point.

 

The Prayer may not be as sad as Courage, but it’s by no means celebratory.

 

I would love to hear Courage at this event. I don’t think it would be inappropriate, and I think I’ve proved my point. If you don’t want to hear it, that’s perfectly fine. The song can help people get through, though.

They’ve also acknowledged it in the little quiz question “what were the three singles released on CWT opening night?”. Two out of the four answers featured “The Hard Way”.

 

Also, it’s got a choir and we know that there will be a choir of 50 nurses for the event. Then again, LCMM also has a choir...

 

It would be a dream come true to see Céline sing this and maybe release it as a single.

It’s high time to finally promote a new strong song from Courage! Let The Hard Way be the next single with a solid music video and proper promotion (they could use the Covid situation to promote the hell of that song and use it for a good cause)

I actually find it to be one of the less warbly songs on the album. Maybe because it just has fewer words per phrase-line.

 

What are the chances her performance on the benefit concert is a music video release of The Hard Way?

 

OR! What if she did an acapella (maybe slowed down version) of the song on the concert and then released the full music video!

Hope I’m wrong and she surprises us. I’d even be happy with “In some small way” or “A New Day Has Come “.

It’s so true!! I think she did that though because she was struggling to hit the high notes. Just like Flying On My Own.
