There are some small differences though. At 0:58, there's an extra "no" in the album version that isn't on the Spotify version. At 1:38, in the Spotify version, the "cause" has more time than in the album version. At 1:54, "fixing mine" sounds different as well.

The whole point of Spotify Singles is recording new material. To emphasize this the very name of the studio the recording was done is mentioned in the title of both tracks.

Every time I try to play the song on spotify it plays Barry Manilow....so frustrating!! And part of why I hate Spotify. Maybe one day...

First off, I feel like I spent good money to get the Courage album in the first place, between ending up paying even more to buy another version of the same thing from Japan just to get one extra song and now here are two more songs to download or buy or whatever. I don’t think you’re understanding the timeline of events. The album was released three months ago, whereas the invitation from Spotify was more recent. Also, the word “exclusive” means they wouldn’t have been allowed to include it on the album regardless of its release date.

Yep- so it’s not that she just recorded a random new song and released it and ignored the album. She was supposed to do a cover of another artist’s song and one of her own. Really, we should just be happy that we’ve had 22? new songs in the space of a short time.

Sorry to say that the whole industry has changed with streaming taking over. The concept of releasing an album and promoting it for 2-3 years until you release the next one doesn't work any more. Many artists release new songs soon after the album. Maroon 5, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift are examples that come to mind. I'm actually surprised Celine did this.

 

This cover is really really good, they should promote it somehow.

I loved these two songs.

Celine is going the right way, it’s good to see Spotify invite her to some things, it’s the first time I’ve seen a veteran artist participate in Spotify Single, I always see young artists participating.

Sure, but given Celine's reason for picking it, I don't mind it that much. I would've liked it if she chose another song instead though. Like Flying On My Own, The Chase or Look At Us Now.

 

I think it's such a shame that we never got a slow version of Flying On My Own as a remix. All the remixes are turned up instead of turned down, and it would probably be such a great song to sing acoustic.

Imperfections wasn't re-recorded to me ( it's a mix between the version we have and other takes IMO).

 

Even if it was re-recorded, for sure not the same day as WG unlike what they want us to believe, there's a world of difference between her voice in these 2 songs.

This is why her streaming numbers are so low! If fans want to help celine’s chart numbers and stats, stop downloading your tracks and stream them instead. I know we get set in our ways but it’s also the reason why older artists struggle.
